Personally I think they should make a police version of the new postal vehicle. It has both gas & electric versions available, is designed for heavy stop & go traffic, the cargo space could easily be refitted for equipment storage and secure passenger transport, really good visibility, has cameras built in, and the postal contracts means spare parts will be available for a long time. Basically everything a police vehicle needs.

I wouldn't be surprised if the police market was part of the reason. If not that, they might have to consider going foreign, and BMW would be the obvious choice there, they've already got a big foot in the door with their bikes and they're common enough as cop cars in Europe that BMW has police variants of their cars already in the catalog.
