Can anyone help Varg?
>>
You connect it to the ligma
>>
is that from his lada? so much for the simplicity of russian engineering
>>
probably just vacuum advance
>>
So if nothing is hooked up to that, what do you think the fuel line is routed to?
>>
>>28100986
if its got constant vaccum pressure yeah sure, plug it to shit
if it's ported and only works under throttle then port it to dizzy advance but you should also try straight manifold to advance and see whats better
you need a vac guage to tune btw retard

That diagram literally shows the arrow aim in at 56 which is the fuel screen that filters fuel before entering the carb
I have many Weber carbs, I know what that piece looks like lol
When you remove that big nut the fuel screen drops out for cleaning
>>
>>28101721
your a retard
the idle adjustment screw is visible in the OP

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HhIkBEdaow
>>
>>28101738
The idle adjustment screw is on the left side where the throttle cable hooks to the linkage
The black arrow in the OP is pointing directly at the fuel inlet of the carb, you can see the nut on the bottom of the inlet that holds the fuel screen in
Some people actually own carbs here and know what they’re talking about

It’s 56 in the first diagram you posted

Nobody said simplicity. It is just works. Two different things. AK47 mechanism IS more complex than AR 15 IF YOU LOOK UP TO IT
>>
>>28101033
That is simple, that’s basic ass carb on a basic ass engine, it doesn’t get more simple than that on any brand of car
>>
>>28101799
Those old Volga carbs actually are fairly complex when compared to proper bottom of the barrel SIMPLE soviet carbs, those things lacked even accelerator diaphragms of any sort for the sake of simplicity

>>
>>28102767
its more that they are obsolescent, from the 1980s to the 2000s (even almost to the present day) they were selling cars with mid 1950s to late 1970s era underpinnings.
however not to be entirely negative they are somewhat winterised and over built when compared with the cars they are based on
>>
>>28102777
Based is what they are
>I want a cheap rwd manual shitbox with carbs, no electronics whatsoever, no ac, no radio, no abs, absolutely nothing and based on 60s tech
And the Russians delivered.
>>
>>28102779
>Based is what they are
ye pretty much, most contemporary criticism of them is by way of comparing them to more modern and sophisticated cars.
they are much more like the average 1960s shitbox in ride quality and handling.
I think the main weak point is material selection and quality control, the fabrics and plastics being kind of crumbly (even the wiring insulation is a bit naff),
and spare parts for the engine / drive train / suspension not fitting properly, being just outside of spec so as to require turning and fitting.
to keep one going is more cobbling than what people call wrenching.
>>
>>28102789
>not fitting properly, being just outside of spec so as to require turning and fitting.
Unironically that's the best part in my opinion, the reason I like them.
In general I just find working on Soviet machinery fun.

>I always thought Soviet vehicles were retard proof
nah, they are the opposite of retard proof, don't misunderstand, you can repair them quite easy and cheap but you will do that often
So if you are a wrenchlet and unwilling to learn it, you will absolutely get raped by the repair costs

>>28102779
>I want a cheap rwd manual shitbox with carbs, no electronics whatsoever, no ac, no radio, no abs, absolutely nothing and based on 60s tech

That's not delivering, that's not having a choice to begin with
Same with mexicans building the beetle in the current century or iranians still producing the mazda 121 just a few years ago
If we're talking rwd manual shitbox, than the peugeot 504 is a solid contender, build in Nigeria almost as long as the zhiguli was in russia, and still going strong on whatever passes for a road down there
Still i cannot help but like the zhiguli because at their heart they were a fiat from the sixties even when made in 2010

>kek, I understand that perverse enjoyment of being an artisan bodger and puzzle solver
It's almost like the car throwing down the gauntlet, daring you to try
My dad had a wartburg for whatever reason when i was a kid (probably the result of a drunken trip to a used car lot) and that shitbox couldn't make 10km without braking down

That is fine when tinkering with the car is your hobby and you have another, more reliable one to actually get around when you need to. When the janky shitbox is your only vehicle, it become much less charming and fun.
