hello /o/. my oil pressure sensor is leaking so im putting a new one in. the one originally in the car has an extention on it, do i need to put that in as well or can i just screw the new one straight into the block. pic is new one and old one. also the new one doesnt go all the way into the block with all of its thread. ive done it up inger tight and it looks about halfway in. i dont want to go any further if ill strip the thread in the block. any advice on this pls. is a ford 250 crossflow motor
this is the new sensor finger tight into the block
also i just noticed the hole in the bottom of the extension is much smaller than the one in the new sensor. will that be an issue?
>>28104556Is that a direct replacement or just a generic sensor from vatozone?
>>28104750just a generic sensor. i realise now that the retard sold me a switch not a sensor so my gauge wasnt actually showing oil pressure. put the old one back in, the extender was to move the sensor out a bit so there was space for it to fit
>>28104751Yeah, that has the electronics to tell the gauge or light what to read built into the sensor. That switch you got isn't going to do shit other than plug the hole in the block. Find the correct part number and order one.
>>28104529i'm not an expert but the bigger gauge probably gives full range feedback for 0 - 40 or whatever is on your dash for oil pressure and the tiny one is probably just a dummy switch that shows you have some minimum pressure and that's good enough. Compatible? Maybe. Will your dash be correct? No probably not.
>>28104529That extension may be a snubber to prevent violent gage fluctuations.
