DCT is manual if it's in a car I like.

>2 parallel automated manuals
It's a really fucked up frankenstein not-manual that works breddy gud
>>
How the fuck do you use paddle shifters? Like I'm in the middle of a turn and I need to shift to second gear. How the fuck are you supposed to do it while turning the wheel? Also my paddles turn with my wheel so I never know where they are while turning.
>>
>>28104605
Also paddles basically make your gearbox sequential which pretty much negates any advantage of manually shifting, why do people even make these things?
>>
>>28104605
You use the actual stick and push it up or down
>>
>>28104607
>paddles basically make your gearbox sequential
Kek, ROoDLAMHAHA even
>>
>>28104605
on the street in a street car? leave it in automatic mode
on the track? you shouldn't be moving your hands around, leave them at 3 and 9 o'clock, if you can't leave your hands in those positions then you aren't sitting close enough to the wheel
>>
>>28104574
At best I would consider it sequential.
>>
>>28104676
>leave them at 3 and 9 o'clock
You can't drive
>>
>>28104574
I love my DSG car but I would feel like a gigantic faggot if I tried to claim it's a manual.

nani

>I'm in the middle of a turn and I need to shift
sounds like you just suck at driving
>>

From a technical standpoint it's much more a manual than it is an automatic (no torque converter, no planetary gears)
From a driving standpoint it's NOT a manual.

Honda made automated manual transmissions as far back as the 80's. DCTs are slop. The best auto box I have ever driven was in a 1986 Honda Accord and it shifts faster and is more responsive than any electronically controlled transmission, DCT or not.

Manual transmission: gearbox can't shift gears, gearbox can't select which gear to be in.

Semi-automatic transmission: gearbox can shift gears, gearbox can't select which gear to be in.

Automatic transmission: gearbox can shift gears, gearbox can select which gear to be in.

It's just that simple.

Kek weeblets are so fucking delusional goddamn
>>
>>28104605
be in the right gear before you enter the corner?
>>
>>28104605
Why not shift to second BEFORE entering the turn?
>>
>>28104605
Downshift before the corner. Jesus christ I got shit on for not doing this during my driver's lessons.
>>
>>28104574
>Automated
lol
you lost
>>
>>28104605
Wow what a woman
>>
>>28105204
It's not automatic either if you can manually shift them.
>>
>>28108231
>if you can manually shift them
You can't, though. The "manual" mode or using the paddles is still just an electronic signal. It's a mere request to shift, that the computer can refuse if you do it retardedly.
>>
manuel transmission
just a spic in the passenger seat shifting gears for you
>>
>>28108741
Arm movements are just an electronic signal from your brain to you muscle. The human body is DCT.

~100% of solid matter is just empty space on an atomic level btw
>>
>>28108895
The difference is if you want to put your hand in a wood chipper, you don't have another brain in your head overriding your decision. The risk/reward of driving a manual is part of the appeal to many people.

No one cares about your semantics
