I just discovered that in America being on a payment plan with a car loan is so normalized that people actually think it's weird if you buy a car outright and call that a cash car.Americans literally take out a car loan and then as soon as it's paid off they will trade the car in for a new car with another car loanAn Americans will shame and humiliate their coworkers and friends if they see them driving a second hand or used car that was paid for in cash. A "cash car" is an item of Shame, and shows you are broke. You just can't afford to make "car note" payments. What do you pay for your car note every month? What kind of car are you getting for that money? why is it called a car note instead of car loan? And do you have the stories about people with insane car repayments in your friend or family group?
Who the fuck cares what the mutts do? The only things they export is weapons and entertainment. Weapons that prove themselves useful only in filling the contractors pocket with tax payers money and entertainment that when its not woke trash is just plain old trash. And Teslas made in China I guess.OK ford exports some nice trucks now and then I'll give them that.
>>28105448idk every car ive ever bought came home on a rope or on a trailer.
Obsessed
shit nigga my loan has 1% interest i wish i have it for longer
>>28105448I remember hearing some co-workers talk about a dumb car a female friend of theirs bought on a loan. I don't remember what car it was, but it was an expensive performance car. Her monthly payments were so bad she'd always stay at home because she couldn't afford to do anything. From what I gathered, I think she had low self-esteem and was trying to use the car to boost her own value.
I feel like having car payments is completely the norm for most Western European countries maybes not if you live in the south and can get by with a 30 year old Fiat or if you live in the East and drive a stolen VW
>>28105448I'm a leaf, and no one gives a shit what car you drive, or at the very least i don't give a fuck. They might occasionally make jokes about "when are you changing your car?" but they don't care. However yes, consumerism is normalized here and a lot of people are drowning in debt. Everyone has the house, the boat, the side by side, the 80k luxury truck, etc... I genuinely don't know how they manage, they probably don't make much more then i do but they have the latest toys. It was funny when the Russian war broke out and everyone was bitching about not being able to afford the gas prices.
>>28105448it only makes sense if you have a low interest rate and have that money invested paying out more than the interest.but most people are poor living paycheck to paycheck with zero real investments
>>28105448>ayo! Who ain’t pay dey car note!?
>>28105448Nobody cares honestly, it makes sense if you are getting low rates like a lot of cars are even nowadays. The world runs on credit and being scared of fit will eat you fast.
>>28105448If you are a buying a new car you should always take out a loan because dealers will give you a better deal thinking they will make it back on interest. Then you immediately pay off the loan.
>>28105522obligatorybe sure there is no early pay off penalty
>>28105448I recently financed a 2017 F-150. Every other truck I've owned I paid cash for it, but I wanted at least one truck that I felt comfortable taking cross country. Its $350/mo for 48 months @ 4% interest. I have an index fund that returns like 8-10% a year, I net more putting the money I would put towards the truck in the index fund and paying the minimum monthly. I spend a little extra because the loan requires me to maintain full coverage insurance, but honestly it's nice enough and the drivers I encounter on a daily basis are dumb enough I'd probably want to have it covered anyways.
$903, bought the car 3 days agowhy the fuck does it matter thoonly complete retards think about car purchases in terms of monthly paymentwhat matters is APR, I got 5.89%

>>28105920I bought it used early this spring, 5.0 supercab, max tow, and 4x4 with the locking rear diff were my "must have" requirements. I found this one for $21k out the door with 118k miles on it, I put like $5k down. Its currently around 135k miles. Its not my daily, I actually find it really boring to drive and I dont really drive it anywhere unless I'm going 200+ miles from home. But I havent had to do anything besides a handful of oil changes and replace one turn signal lamp which is nice.
>>28105716>life long mortgageNot a factor in leafland. The bank will change the terms after at most 10 years on you, usually 5. Can't rely on inflation.
>>28105448>What do you pay for your car note every month?Minimum payment of $123 for 60 months at 6%, I pay well over double since I plan to pay it off in a 1.5ish years or less. I put 2/3 of the value down cash hence the payment being low.>What kind of car are you getting for that money?Late model compact executive luxury sedan with 50-75k miles, sport package, and all the driver assistance gizmos nobody needs.>why is it called a car note instead of car loan?Refers to a promissory note, technically a more formal title than just a "loan". In Burger accounting standards you may refer to a "notes payable" account when dealing with something similar to an accounts payable account.>And do you have the stories about people with insane car repayments in your friend or family group?I know a few people paying around $500 a month for their NPC-tier shitboxes (i.e. a literal Altima and a KIA crossover) when they obviously can't afford it, and in one case one person runs Doordash and even Uber with their same car just to try to cover the costs. At that point, you obviously couldn't afford the car (but some HAVE to have their car match the current year regardless of how financially feasible it is). In my case, I already had multiple reliable daily drivers but just wanted something new-ish, fun, and just a bit more efficient than my V8 shitboxes.>>28105555CheckedOf all anons here I'd imagine you would've been one of the least likely to finance a car since you've basically got a whole fleet of trucks already.
>>28105951>find it really boring to driveI'm not saying its a bad truck, its not. I have my gripes but I feel like I paid a fair price for it and I intend to keep it for a while. 20-23mpg on 87 empty is really nice 17-18ish highway with my 5k lb equipment trailer is very impressive. Its quiet and comfortable for long trips. I dont like how it tows. Its rated for something like 9k lbs and it can get that weight and more up to speed very easily, but it feels pretty unstable doing so, especially in wind across southern Idaho and eastern Washington and Montana. Probably a combination of the AT tires I have on and relatively short wheel base. If I tow anything more than 5k lbs I do it with my 7.3 dually especially if I have distance to cover.>>28105964>Of all anons here I'd imagine you would've been one of the least likely to finance a car since you've basically got a whole fleet of trucks already.I'd never done it before, I never really considered it, but it is nice to own something now that I don't have to fuck with on a frequent basis. Something I can just toss my tools in and go. Admittedly another part of it is that I have to look more professional in front of customers, my crew, and subs. Once they get to know me I'll start rolling in with my IDIs but its good to put my best foot forwards first. I'll probably finance an early 6.7 alumiduty once I have this one paid off honestly.
>>28105448>What do you pay for your car note every month?$0, I paid $5,000 cash 6 years ago>What kind of car are you getting for that money?2008 Crown Victoria - currently 180k miles>why is it called a car note instead of car loan?It makes people feel better. But it's also a low-class terminology. People who grew up middle class or above don't say "car note". They just say loan, or say they're financing it. Only poor people, or those who grew up poor, actually use the term "car note" in real life. >And do you have the stories about people with insane car repayments in your friend or family group?Yes, my best friend bought a brand new Lexus LS500 last year and his monthly payment is over $900. And that's really just because he traded in his previous car and got about 20k for it, plus he put some money down as well. But to be fair he does make $120,000 per year and he can afford it

>>28106624>pic relbrave man
I got 250 a month for 3 years (since yesterday) but I think I'll pay it off in a yearI didn't want to sell off my investments and I wouldn't want to save for 9 months or something so I think this was an okay decision even for a frugal fuck like me
>>28106757Very sensible I'm taking a $5000 loan to buy a $10,000 car next month.I need it now, but will pay it off within a year
About $460 a month, 36 month loan @ 0% APR with $16k down on $32k car. Could have paid outright but no point with 0%.

>>28107408My last truck I picked up from a tweaker 7 years ago who wrecked it and didn't have insurance. A Chevy avalanche with 150k miles. The interior was pretty trashed but the engine and trans were solid. Paid him $1000 and I swapped the bumper, drivers fender, grill, and headlights bent the hood corner back into place with heat and managed to save the paint replaced upper control arms because they were kinda fucked and new front shocks. Interior parts were dirt cheap used so I just replaced everything that was broken and had it detailed to remove the tweaker stench. All told I think I spent 4 grand on it to get it in top shape. It now has 240k miles and the only things that have gone bad are the battery, the water pump gaskets, evap purge valve, and drive shaft u joints. I don't think I could have gotten a better deal because truck prices were skyrocketing at the time
2025 Honda Civic Sport (I know)Pre-approved through my bank for 5.54% and $30,000. Monthly note is $498.90 for it. Yes, I know I got hosed. Europoor thread
>>28108646Looking at median Incomes and wealth, most Western European Nations as well as Australia and Great Britain are far wealthier than the United States.Taking a loan out to buy a car does not make you rich. The only time my father ever had to borrow money to buy a car is because he had a government job and they had a program where you could buy a car using your pre-tax income, and that money would not be taxed if you ordered through this government scheme. He used it to buy a big green Mitsubishi Magna. Every other family car has been bought in cash. I guess we aren't rich enough to need to borrow money to buy a vehicle
>>28108646I am a first year teacher. My takehome pay is 65k a year after taxes. I drive a 2rd Gen Honda Jazz I bought with 120,000 km for $12,000 3 years ago when I was working as a teachers assistant, and my 2001 ford laser failed a roadworthy. My coworker is also a first year teacher. He just got a BMW X4. He pays $470 a WEEK on this car. That's more than my rent. He's on a 7 year loan, but says he will trade it in after 5 years because old cars are too expensive to maintain anyway. So his takehome pay is $1250 a week, leaving him with $780 a week after his car payments. This doesn't include insurance or fuel on that big gas guzzling V6, something you really need in the city as a single person. This has obviously caused issues and a lot of stress with he continuously vents about. When I suggested he get rid of the car and get something he can actually afford he got very aggressive saying that he wants a luxury car not some povospec japbox girls car. And says I must spend a lot on maintaining it anyway. And his car is worth it because it gets him laid. To earn more money, he was coaching some school sports, but due to some "lost" money he is no longer allowed to. Average BMW owner.
>>28108702>Average BMW ownerYou could just say he is brown and doesn't speak the language very well. You didn't need 3 paragraphs for that. But that's the intellectual level of the average teacher I guess.
