The Jaws of Life have existed since the 1960s and were invented after someone witnessed people being burned alive inside a car that couldn't be rescued because the doors were stuck. So this has nothing to do with EVs.

it has everything to do with tesla EVs requiring electricity to open its doors

Wait, don't tell they don't even have a mechanical back up lever to open the doors, like Vipers do for example?

Isn't it interesting how they omit that the driver was doing over 120mph and they hit a concrete pillar?

They do, it doesn't matter though because they were already dead before the fire started because >>28105774

They where made for extracting occupants that may have a suspected spine injury. If the occupant is fine they just pry open the door with hydraulic speaders
>>
>>28105628
ICEVs require electricity to open their doors, too.
>>
>>28106312
Nu car trash sure, but not real cars. Keyed entry only.
>>
>>28106333
Every ICEV I've used has doors controlled electronically.

Which cars on sale today have mechanically actuated door locks?

To lock or unlock the doors, or to actually open the latch from the inside? Because that's the issue with Teslas. The latch requires power to open when you pull the primary interior door handle (there's a second hidden one that's mechanical, but you can forget it's even there and not all models have it in the rear doors).
This is because the windows have to retract a little when you open the door to be absolutely sure you don't break them, so there's a delay in between when you pull the handle and the latch opening. If there's no power, nothing happens when you pull the handle.

Are all the cars you've driven like that?
>>

>The latch requires power to open when you pull the primary interior door handle
There is only one door handle that can be pulled and it's mechanical, just like any other car.

Aren't those Fords?

>Wait, don't tell they don't even have a mechanical back up lever to open the doors, like Vipers do for example?

They have it, but it's hidden in a place where realistically it's impossible to find if you're under any distress. In some Tesla models you have to disassemble the door speakers to find it.
>>
>>28106660
That is simply not true you lying faglord.
>>
>>28105605

It has everything to do with EVs because EVs are deathtraps that will catch fire for no reason and cannot be put out by conventional means. Especially Teslas, the deadliest cars ever built who will kill both the people driving it and people just walking near it (full self driving).
>>
>>28107310
Why do you come to an automotive board if you don't know anything about cars? Every char has mechanical door handles. Now go back to >>>/n/ you election tourist.

>>28107316
You're describing ICEVs. Hundreds of thousands catch fire every year for no reason, too, and kill thousands people. In just the USA. They had to invent the jaws of life because people kept burning alive in cars before they could be freed.

Dude just stop. This is how you're supposed to open Telsa doors. Okay so I made a mistake in thinking that you're supposed to pull a handle when in fact in Teslas you're supposed to push a button to open the doors.
Doesn't change the fact that the standard door opening procedure that you're going to be trying first in an emergency is something that requires power.
>>
>>28107349
Teslas are the most dangerous brand of vehicle on American roads.
>>
>>28108312
Why is that? They're one of the safest cars on the road.
>>
>>28108358
By the metric of what? Laboratory tests by the IIHS?
In terms of passenger fatalities per billion road miles, they're not. Of course, in real world data, it's impossible to separate car from driver. Perhaps Tesla appeals to a particularly retarded audience? That seems likely to me because of how high Kia scores compared to Hyundai.
>>
>>28105527
Not in trumps america they're not.
