I just don't go in reverse faster than 1 mph so I won't damage anything even if I hit it
What's the point of making reverse be able to go 20ish mph for anyways? I hate it when I let the clutch out a little too fast and send the car backwards.
I can live without a backup camera but I'd hate to not have backup sensors. That being said, backup cameras are awesome when trying to back out of angled parking spaces where you just have no fucking rear visibility.
>>28105913If they geared it too low you can damage the ring and pinion as they are more designed with forward in mind. Also snow.
>>28105916>but I'd hate to not have backup sensors. If only there were a visual way of seeing exactly how close you were to backing up to something.
>>28105913skill issue>>28105904You've never driven anything larger than a tiny sedan
>>28105973i drive a 2016 transit. you get 180° of real visibility and the wing mirrors. backup camera helps a tiny bit. but. you know those parking spaces that are on a 50-45° angle. literally unusable unless I just back out slowly and hope for the best. we got intersections like that to
>>28105904I think beyond a certain point safety measures like this actually make a car less safe in the passive safety kind of way. I want to see out of the car! My current car has terrible rearwards visibility, and it's just a normal hatchback. That said, even I don't need a backup camera or sensors. If you really have to, you Ace Ventura it.
>>28106131>unless I just back out slowlythe backup sensors that beep at you would be literally useless.
>>28106159you don't say
I've been in situations a few times a week where you can't even look back from the driver or passenger side rear view mirrors if a came is going to swipe you when you're slowly reversing because of fuckhuge American pick up trucks. My sedan is only so small, so the backup camera is a godsend.
>>28106246>if a camea what
>>28106146How do you see what’s coming if you’re backing out of a space and parked next to an SUV? Do you just keep going and hope for the best? That’s what we had to do before cameras and it was a pin in the ass.
>>28105913Even my front loader does 35kmh in reverse
>>28106325i rev bomb blind corners so fuckers will look up as i creep out
I need a backup camera. I blame the fact that visibility in modern cars is so bad with modern safety standards, that i actually NEED a backup camera. I couldnt imagine life without it in my modern car. In an old 80s/90s fishbowl glass car? Probably wouldn't need.
>>28105973What, getting out of the car? Because the mirrors sure as shit don't tell you.
>>28106325hazard lights on so any oncoming traffic in either direction will (hopefully) see you, and if they still haven't, creep out very slowly.
>>28106131Try doing that with a lorry. Fucking hate angled intersections.
>>28106767Thirdie here. We have a ton of those. Guys in box trucks have no choice but to just roll out slow because by time you unbuckle and shuffle across the cab to check and shuffle back you already have 3 cars appear around the blind and pass you before you even sit back down
On the topic of cameras, which dashcam would you recommend? It has to be "dumb" without botnet ecosystem where you need to create an account and access settings with mobile app
>>28105904I drove my current car for about a month without noticing it had a backup camera. Who the fuck looks at the dashboard while reversing?
>>28106325I avoid parking next to SUVs if poss. If I have to park next to one, I reverse park so I can see sooner, and make sure to have a look before I get in the car.
Wouldnt it make more cents to put the camera in the front of the car who has time to look at the road when you can watch the tv in your car
>>28107226Mine has a camera in the front.

>>28107080Tech reviewers went on preposterous deep dives buying dozens of the things to compare, tear down, and see if there are any good ones. There aren't any good ones and turns out they all have the exact same components from 2-3 suppliers in a slightly different box and a slightly different software. The short answer is it doesn't matter which one you get because they're all the same and won't capture the drivers face or the license plate when that nissan altima sideswipes you.
>>28107273>>28107298thanks for info bros
>have backup camera>never use it because I have 15 years of driving a chevy shitbox seared into my brain
>>28105904>so I won't damage anything even if I hit itLol. If you get caught that won't stop the other driver from getting indigent and demanding your insurance, calling you a hit-and-run if you don't, and still somehow submitting a 2K bill to your insurance if you comply.
>>28105913Manual problems
>have single cab pickup>un-tinted, big windows all around>excellent visibility>no nannies>easier than any car to parkI have it so easy
>>28105904Based, that's how I did it when I was a lot jockey. We were literally taught to go slowly and gently until the car isn't rolling when you let off anymore, then roll forward slightly to even out. Just watch out doing it with trucks/SUVs with a hitch. This was before cameras were standardized, but recent enough to where everything already had a squishy plastic bumper.
>>28105904I only use my back up camera to see how close I am to something and my back up sensors are useless since they beep when nothing's there.
Dad bought used car that someone had fit with a parking sensor kit. Too bad all the sounds it made were projected outwards - literal gtfo my way signal.
