>every single truck under 20k has 100k+ miles
the highest percentage of any new cars that are likely to reach 200k miles are trucks and truck-based SUVs.so you likely have another 100k miles of trouble-free driving before you have to worry about fixing anything. what's the problem?
>>28105996Fords eco-boost shits the bed at 100k, the ram eco-disesel is known to die at that milage too.
>>28105996Yep. Truck-based pickups, SUVs and vans are easily among some of the more reliable new vehicles you can buy. If it hasn't had a lot of owners I'd say you have even longer to go relatively trouble-free - I've got a GM SUV I bought from the first owner at 200k miles and it's needed less than $100 of maintenance in over 3 years aside from oil + filters (knock sensor and shifter cable specifically). >>28106051>eco-boost>eco-dieselKeep to an n/a V8, n/a V6/I6 if it's an old enough model and you're good. Notice that it's the overstressed engines intended for smaller vehicles that take a shit early.
>>28106055trannies are also known to go bad at that milage, silverados in particular
>>28105976Not the ones being sold as is. Come on anon, you've got a little gamble in you, don't you?
>>28106072NTA but hear it has to do with the torque converter clutch used in the 6L80 trannies. GM never fully locks the TCC to help with NVH, so the clutch is always slipping. The clutch material gets in the ATF, clogs passages, and ruins the trans. A trans tune for full lockup and/or upgrade to the 6L90 torque converter apparently stops this from happening
>>28105976>100k miles is a lot
>>28107584op is one of those normalfags who believe any car crossing the MAGICAL 100k line is automatically totaled and should be avoided/should cost $0
>>28107584It isn't but it is typically when stuff like tires, brakes and suspension components are going to be replaced. Your timing belt is around the corner too. These can be expensive and scare a lot of people. In their minds it makes sense to put that money towards something new.
Time to think twice, will you benefit for a fat, useless car?
