Up until two weeks ago, it was looking pretty clearly like the landscape for new gasoline automobiles was fucked, the Federal Government is holding a gun to manufacturers' heads and telling them they have 5 years to switch to electric or die, you can't really put it on them for making it an EV because that's the only way the Scout would be able to carve a niche out for itself between the Wrangler, Bronco, Land Cruiser, Defender, and G-Wagon as a boxy, retro offroad SUV. It's also got an onboard gasoline generator for 150 miles of extra range, it's probably the most genuinely capable EV anyone's made if it lives up to the spec sheet.

Yeah, as EVs go it's easily the most appealing. I might actually consider the truck one with the range extender if there's some government incentive or whatever that brings the price down to the level of an equivalent ICE truck, I've already got a newish midsize truck and will probably replace it with another eventually, and I've really wanted a PHEV one for a while but I could probably live with a range extended electric. (Fuck pure battery though.)

I would need more details on how exactly the range extender works and whether you can practically run it entirely on gas without plugging into the wall though, I do a lot of road tripping and often go to pretty remote places without charging infrastructure.

I... learned International actually made cars before their trucks and shiet were common place after playing Forza Horizon. Since then, I appreciate old SUVs a bit more. And Iearned why restofags always swap LS/Coyote/Hemis into these old things and give it a 4l60 or 4 speed manual with a whole bunch of gaudy luxury for 100-300k beyond original price.

I think the smarter thing would have been for International to leverage their existing relationship with GM building medium duty trucks and just do a Suburban with the International grille on it.

Don’t care. And no I don’t care about the generator either.

A couple of their trucks were featured on a recent videogame
Grab yours before they get meme taxed in ~10 years

PHEVs almost universally never need plugging in, but I'd be skeptical of that range extended version. They claimed it will have 500 miles of total range, but didn't say whether it will have the same EV range as the full EV version. PHEVs tend to have reduced battery sizes to save on cost. For all we know, this could be a "500 mile" PHEV with 50 miles of EV range.

The video I saw claims it adds 150 miles of range
