I'm considering buying a Ford Tempo because I think it looks cool. What is your opinion about this car? What do you know about it? Can you give me any advice? Thanks
>>28107200Where the fuck do you live where these still exist? I haven't seen a Tempo in 15 years.
I drove one for a while, it had the automatic seatbelts and smelled good. It was supposed to have selectable awd but that was broken, the T-handle shifter was cool, and I would drink robitussin and listen to eminem while driving it. It's not a cornering machine, take it easy in the curves.
>>28107200diesel retards have made ball joints a commodity, as well as all the diesel parts. the aftermarket ball joints/control arms do not fit. 2.3 is just meh, some people have swapped the ohc 2.3, but who gives a fuck? the ford/mazda merger was necessary and the 2nd gen escort/taurus is a much superior car, these dont exist for a reason
>>28107208Mexico. Even here it's rare. More so the first generation.>>28107637>these dont exist for a reasonAny suggestions for a car with similar styling and same time period that is actually good?
>>28108902The Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon comes to mind. I would also suggest a first gen Nissan Sentra. All of these are also fairly hard to find now too.
>>28108911Oh, and I forgot about the first gen Chevy Astro. That is probably the most likely one you're still going to find everywhere.
>>28108902no, this was the bottom of the ninth for domestics, maximum corner cutting was taken to catch up to the imports mopping the floor with them. If honda could get away with their cars rusting away in a few years, ford chrysler and gm were going to do it too. No galvanization, minimal paint from the factory, these cars rust like nothing else, above any aftermarket parts shortage or drivetrain problems they had. Chrysler was already in bed with mitsubishi and had axed all of their own designs that werent in government contracts. GM didnt even try and just had toyota and suzuki produce cars under the GEO brand until the late 90's, ford caught wind and made a similar deal with mazda later.AMC tried to cater to a taste in quality and went bankrupt doing so, their lineup of 1 whole ass car did have galvanization, in flavours of concord, spirit, or eagle. The late 80s were a far better time; gen 2 escort based on the mazda BG, the civic and crx's that rusted much less, the FWD nissans were nicer cars too, i think nissan produced the gen 1 sentra and d21 navara in mexico until 2012.
