>>28108638this will kill rivian. But maybe it's a good thing since they're near dead anyway and I presume they're the main supplier of software and engineering for this vw brand.
>>28108639They had me at physical buttons.
>>28108638Literally another generic appliance
>initial production targeted 2027>website doesn't workGrab some pre orders and early investorsClaim bankruptcyRide of into the sunset
>>28108676>Volkswagen is going bankrupt
>>28108670They said 80% of the parts will be consumer serviceable
>>28108638Too big.
EV SUVs are peak larp. You make fun of the bronco sport for looking like a bronco but secretly being just an escape is disguise. Well this is that but electric. You know you're not going overlanding in this. You know you're not going offroading in this. It's the "I want a model y but they're ugly" car.
>>28108638Looks retarded but you do you girl
>>28108638I wonder if it'll be horribly unreliable like the original Scouts
I thought it was the new Dacia while looking at the thumbnail
>The all new... 10,000 lb giga box shaped SUV that costs like 70k kek
>>28108638w*man are going to freak over this slop
>>28108638You couldn’t hit me hard enough to admit I fell for this
>>28108743>"I want a model y but they're ugly" car. Also as much as everyone hates Elon, Teslas are still FAR superior to other EV's. Buying a Tesla EV is an insanely retarded decision when ICE is legal still and far superior. But buying a non-Tesla EV is something we can't even discuss. It is pure distilled retardation.
>>28109477Women don't know "Scout" brand. This will be a disaster. >launch new brand>solely produce EV>at the period of absolute lowest EV demandKek. Good luck you idiots.
>>28109547they could have just made a non-retarded grenadier and be in production tomorrow. Sad.
>>28108687They are in trouble.Anyway, only a numale would be caught dead in a nuScout.
>>28109477>>28109547The market is honestly likely going to be redditor nu-males, the same types I see that like to buy Rivians and the other "rugged" EV vehicles. I guarantee "Tesla Model Y/X but square" is likely a factor, along with the "not owned by Elon Musk" part now I suppose as well. Just go look in the Rivian or similar owners groups, it's cringe. Hell, I interviewed (more than once) and almost worked for them so I'm quite familiar with their corporate spiel about "sustainability for a better future" and all that marketing bullshit.Similar to all those LARPing overlanders, these may see the beginning of a trailhead once or twice - where they'll be parked next to all the regular cars that could make it there as well.
>>28109544you know this isnt VWs first EV right? They are perfectly competent and the scout looks badass
>>28109558>you know this isnt VWs first EV right? Was this point supposed to help you?? Yes, please review with me the long story of VW EV's. Let's go through them one by one and you can point out why each one was a colossal failure larger than the one before.
>>28109558>VW EV demand super high>mega sales records>VW opening three new factories to keep up with demand!!!>sort ofhttps://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/volkswagen-plans-major-layoffs-shut-least-three-german-plants-works-council-head-2024-10-28/
>>28109547thats not really ev tho, its basically ev drivetrain with generator
>>28109588>ev drivetrain with generator>Pure electric models offer up to 350 miles of range. Scout’s extended range models offer 500 miles of range or more through a built-in, gas-powered generator. Even in the middle of nowhere, you can still get there.Guess on the take rate of the "gas generator edition"? I bet it will be a lot more money. Most will be pure EV.
>>28109641>Most will be pure EV.But they will all be pure shit.
>>28109552He got a purdy mouf.
>>28109641yeah they will probably be different models. with erev being 30% markup kek
>>28109673I copied that from the Scout official website, so this is definitely what they're doing. The ratio of pure EV to generator is unknown, but we'll see.
>>28108638What is that? Chinese Bronco?
>>28108638Women will make their husbands buy this. Its like broncos and jeeps fags and hag's love them.
>>28109455No, it *starts* at $70k. Meaning initial founders edition, dealer markup, whoops its been 3 years and parts cost more, it'll be a $100k truck and they'll wonder why nobody is buying it. >>28109544>Also as much as everyone hates ElonThe only people who hate elon are idiots who cannot see past his association with conservative ideas.
>>28109765>akshually I can seperate the artist from the artShut up.
>>28109553Wow, getting neutered by an EV must be like +10,000 good goy points.
>>28108639Probably software and maybe some of the EV architecture. Not sure about the chassis engineering, it's a proper BoF with a solid rear axle etc. and Rivian doesn't have any experience with that as far as I know, nor have they done a gas range extender. >>28108743The thing about the Scout that's unique is that it WOULD be a totally legit competitor to the Bronco, Wrangler, 4Runner, etc. if it weren't an EV, so it's kind of a cut above the others. I still wouldn't buy one because of the EV thing, but if I were somehow forced to get an EV (say I worked for a company that offered a company car but it had to be EV) it's definitely the one I'd pick, and if they ever decide to do a regular ICE version I'll definitely consider it because I'd like a BoF SUV but I hate removable tops and Toyota's ergonomics.
>>28108638Looks like a next gen Bronco.
>>28108676Works fine on my machine, bro. I made the reservation without any problem.
>ThoughtsWay too late to the party. Its been winding down.
>>28109565Those German plants have been on borrowed time for a decade or even longer. They pay their entry-level assembly line workers more than what doctors and consultants earn in large parts of Europe, and that's before the bonuses and benefit packages, all negotiated by one of the strongest workers' unions in the world.Maybe they could sort of afford this when Volkswagen was Das Auto, the one famous car brand that everyone everywhere could buy knowing what they'd get, and they hadn't yet gotten screwed by Dieselgate and trying to compete with all the other brands making disposable plastic software platforms.Wonder how those unions of theirs are going to react to what must be done.
>>28108638I like the idea behind it and it looks sleek, but the fact that it's a VW AG product is probably a bad omen since their only brand that's remotely competent about QC is Porsche.I feel the same way about it that I do about the Ramcharger, even if I'm inclined to cut it a little more slack. It's a cool idea on paper and looks slick, but I want to see receipts and real-world usage data before throwing money at it.
