MANUAL CHADS WIN AGAIN

If there is something I find admirable about evs and some hevs is that they completely ditch the tranny. Unfathomably based. I wouldn't want that for an offroader or a sport(y) car but for a commuter or cruiser? Fuck yeah.

Tranny is a true bro forever.

Do they? They still have a transmission with fluid, it's just one gear.

The driver becomes the tranny.

I was always hesitant to buy an automatic car because of the black magic that happens inside.

Why are you gay

Fun fact: The transmission paired to the 3800 Series II is an absolute masterpiece. Mine is 23, about a generation old, and still performs like magic. Doubtless it's a bit heavy as watchworks go, but refined as that can go.

Who said I am gay?
>>

Then you've never put it under any kind of strain and you dont drive.

Your 2nd>3rd shift will be the first to do the magical automatic transmission KA-THUNK WHAM
>>
I said you're gay for replying to what I said like a retarded 5 year old.

You're all fucking embarassing and retarded.
Again, an outside persective
>>
its quite simple
sun gear input + ring gear free to move + planet carrier as output = no output .ie natural
sun gear input + ring gear held still + planet carrier as output = gear reduction
any two members locked together = direct drive
planet carrier as input = over drive
Planet carrier held still = reverse gear
>>
Automatics are good for certain things.

Highway driving doesnt matter either way as you are in top gear 90% of the time and almost all autos sold today lockup

Mountain driving you want a manual. I dont care about manual select, autos NEVER have the same engine braking leverage as a manual.

City driving can be either. I do fine in manuals as i am not a fraid to hold first gear and when i am stopped i just throw it in neutral. If i drove a bus or garbage truck however i would appreciate the auto.

Trail off roading? Manual
Mudding? Auto
Rockcralwing? Manual
Rockbouncing? Auto

ECVT’s use a single planetary gear in place of a “traditional” transmission, with an electric motor driving the sun gear.

Fix your own. Everything just stacks up in there. Just got mine on the road with thirty bucks worth of clutches and gaskets. The shops always rebuild them because they can’t be assed to figure out what is actually wrong.
>>
>>28112086
if both inputs are rotating in the same direction the output will be half way between the input speeds, until one input speed is fast enough to override the other.
by counter rotating one input, depending on the relative tooth speeds between inputs its possible to slow, stop, or reverse the output.
>>
>>28112039
You are gae
>>
>>28112092

With the cost of pulling out and disassembling to figure out what is wrong you may as well just put everything new in. Rebuild kits are cheap compared to the labour of a partial repair.

4t65e, based off of the 4l60/65e. They are ok, but they can't take regular abuse like the 4t80. They also have a biasing differential drive so it slips one tire or the other depending on load. LSDs for those are very hard to come by and only ZZP makes a better stall converter/flexplate for it.

Do a couple burnouts into 2nd gear and you are going to fry it, plus the filter is internal and you have to split the case to change it. Anything about 350hp/ft-lbs is it's limit.

It's a great swap for 4cyls though as they seldom put out numbers high enough to kill it.

Automatics should be limited by law to four speeds maximum.
They should require a special permit to buy, you have to show that you need the vehicle for towing, or are a woman or crippled before you're allowed to buy one.
All other cars should be required to have a manual transmission, 5 or 6 speeds.
>>
>>28112290
Go to bed Australia the world doesn't want your gay tiered licensing system.
>>
>>28112124
You may as well. Some of that shit can last forever. There’s really no need to press out perfectly good pressurised bearings and fix a speedometer that isn’t leaking. The shop wanted four thousand bucks and it cost me less than forty. I changed the shaft seal on the shifter thing because I thought that would be likely to leak soon, as it is used on a rotating part.

>>28112738
>4,000
*And I would have had to take it out and bring it to them.
>>
>>28111858
Ackshually it is more of an engine assist. It doesn't increase the engine's power you ignoramus.
>>
>>28111794
A manual... What?
