Anybody hag-maxxing with cars? Younger cars are shitty and more expensive.

I've been sinking money into a 2010 Toyota Matrix XRS for some retard reason. One of my other friends has been fixing up a 2007 Ford Focus. And another has been working on a 06 Mustang (V6 :/) that he got for dirt cheap because it was abandoned on the side of the road and sold at a government auction. Luckily, none of us seem to have over $3k in projects, for now.

I drive a 2004, but I also live in the rust belt. I don't know what I'm going to do once the rust gets too bad.

NTA, and you're right that guy sounds like a kid, but cars after the late '00s all suck ass to drive. Born in the '80s here and I think my '10 is too new. I want the physical throttle cable back goddamnit.
>>
>>28111809
I'm 32. My first car was an 86 Tempo. I live in Ohio, nothing pre-05 has survived the winters. I'm not going to go to the south or out west to bring something here and doom it.

This. Also rack-and-pinion steering and mechinical brake linkages.
>>
>>28111829
Weird greentext, boomer, but no I'm not going to ruin it.

I'm going to make it better.

I used to drive a 1985 Cavalier. That thing was a piece of shit.

It's not a GC8 being a USDM model. The 8 means 2.0 turbo. A 4 door 2.5RS VIN will say GC6.

Please don’t let that Prelude die. It’s beautiful

My car is a 500 year old loli tyvm.
>>
I love my '00 3l ranger. I plan on buying a remanned engined for it and hopefully a transmission too. People keep telling me not to because it won't increase the resale value. But they never considered that just maybe I don't plan on selling it. I mean it is a florida truck that lived away from the coast. Does it get any more preserved than that?
>>
>>28112745
Don't worry anon, my prelude gets absolutely spoiled. I wrench on that bitch every weekend.
>>
>>28111805
Park it in a field and let it rot while you get something else

I prefer the first gen more but I probably would have done the same thing anon. Based Matrix chad, you are.

One day I'll have a Matrix of my own again, and I intend to sink money into it as well. For now, I'm going ride or die with my 2005 GMC Envoy.

I don't think I've spent $8k since I agreed to buy my car.
>>
I plan on dumping an insane amount of money into my LS430 because I genuinely love it.
>>
>>28112631
Love these. Does it have the 4 wheel steer? B21?
Grew up (in the UK) seeing a lot of 4th gen Preludes. I prefer the 3rd but I do like thos H22s
>>
Spent $9k on and engine rebuild, $2k aftermarket ECU, $1k on new wiring and connectors for the engine loom, lots of other $$$ on other sundries for the carbie to EFI engine swap. The final power figure on the dyno was the same at-the-wheels power output that the factory carbie engine from 1981 had at the flywheel when new.

My 99 RAV4 4dr is still more fun to drive than most of the+ 2020 rentals I've driven.
>>
>>28115842
how's the throttle response?
>>
>>28115928
3sgte swap NOW
>>
>>28116377
After I swap it to manual I would consider it. The 3sfe maybe be slow as shit but it's reliable and comfy. I'm installing a rear locker and 2" lift at the moment.
>>
>>28116374
Fine, it's still cable throttle and a non-stock ECU so there's no software pussy footing for emissions when you boot it. The only thing I miss is how easy the carb engine would start, like didn't even need to turn over just bump the key and it would fire immediately. EFI needs a few rotations to get full synch before it can get the injectors and spark timed right.
