>muh reliabilityGet the Corolla>muh non-NPC feelGet the Mazdahow do I fucking make up my mind
>>28119308They're both NPC cars, they're both new enough that you shouldn't have any major problems with either, and they're both essentially the same thing. This isn't a hard choice, just pick which ever one suits your aesthetic tastes more. I personally prefer the Mazda for the interior design.
Mazda has the better grill and the best paint I've seen on cars. Wish I could've got it for my brz.
Mazda is peak NPC and nuyotas aren't especially reliable, less so when compared to Mazda. I don't know wtf you are talking about. But to answer your real question, how to make up your mind. The basket weaving forum won't help you and the auto-"journalists" will more likely misinform you. A test drive is good but not enough. The only real way to find out if a vehicle is for you is to actually live with it for a week or two. So go rent a model you find interesting and see how it goes. Its the only way to see how a car actually measures up to your needs, wants and general driving behavior.
Mazda 3 is a reliable car. Built in Japan, NA i4 with no hybridisation, traditional slushbox auto, cheap suspension setup. The one reason to prefer Corolla over Mazda 3 is hybrid MPG.
>>28119314Thank you for the best advice I've recieved so far
>>28119308Mazda is Alfa Romeo handsome without Italians touching it.
Is resellability a factor to consider too? However I don't think that would matter too much considering I'm planning to drive them to the ground
USGSGjust buy a damn G42 M240i already goddamnit
>>28119341I've always said this as well. New Mazda's are fucking based and really nice. They didn't latch on to the CVT meme transmission wave and they're better off for it.
>>28119308Neither, get the miata. But if you really have to ask after sitting in both then you deserve the soulless piece of shit that is the corolla. I had my time in one when I was a young poorfag, I would never do it again.
>>28119308wait for the 2.5 and get a Mazda 3
>>28119308I have a Mazda 3 Sedan with yuro skyactive-X engine. 30k miles zero issues, no oil consumption and a very economic car if you don't go past 120 kmh. Power is enough as daily but it can't compete with 2L turbo cars or bigger displacement, even 20yo cars, for obvious reasons, and gearbox is also tuned for efficiency not performance. The only downsides I can report are the (red) paint job which is insanely delicate and the lack of power when you really want to push it. >>28119406Also this. Probably the best engine for a reliable daily driver on the market right now. Only wish they adopted dual injection from Toyota, that would be perfect.
>>28119314>Mazda is peak NPC>Reached a 25 year high this year for market share>3%Mazda is actually somewhat niche because they're too nice for bottom dollar shoppers but too cheap for luxury shoppers.I don't think that makes them better or anything, but they're not exactly a default pick
'24 mazda 3 NA 2.5L fwd automatic is the best north american econobox. mazda engineers prove they can make something, with the mx5 (still slow and expensive for performance tier, but extremely reliable). toyota engineers have made the GR versions of their cars which sacrifice reliability while still being slow and expensive for their performance range, and based on that i believe the mazda engineering team to be superior.the gen4 fwd 2.5L mazda will outlast the equivalent generation corolla and civic, while being cheaper, and having marginally better (+5% hp & torque) paper specs.>>28119339pic related is a 30 km highway drive fuel eco driving at 110km/h slipstreaming behind transport trucksan average, dry air, 10degC, 110km/h cruise on the highway will produce about 5.2L/100km. sub 4 is achievable at 100 km/h, and its normal at 80km/h highways. these are on new michelin crossclimate 2 tires with appx 500km on them.my average combined is also observable at 5.9 L/100km over the last 20 000km but i usually drive at 129-139 km/h
>>28119561can someone explain me how a 2.5l has better econ than a 2.0 ?
>>28120326maybe working less hard to do the same job so it ends up using less fuel to move the same weight.
>>28120342So that's the famous displacement? In my country i get higher taxes if the displacement is above 2.5L
>>28120326The 2.5L has cylinder deactivation so it actually becomes 1.875L when it shuts a cylinder off. Also it has bigger pistons so produces more torque and is tuned to produce maximum torque at low RPM like a diesel so you can cruise along efficiently.Put your foot down though and it will swallow all the gas, I get 10L/100k in my 2.5 turbo.Fun fact, the cylinder deactivation feature had a bug where the position sensor for the camshaft or something wasn't working right and allowed the valve train to get into a position where parts would interfere with each other and the engine would literally destroy itself and seize at highway speeds. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2019/RCMN-19V497-0047.pdfShould be fixed by now.
>>28120366Damn that sounds really wacky how the engine can attempt to destroy itself due a "bug".Im thinking about buying an used Mazda 3, thinking between a 2015 or 16 to 2021. When i test drove a 2018 i noticed the blindspot protection was quite harsh so dunno if it can be made less sensitive, but really like the rear parking camera (so it has to be a touring version at min). How different are each Mazda 3 on those ranges?
>>28119308>non-npc>mazdacompletely different car categories ban. mazda3 competes with camry
Mazdas are only "peak npc" because the CX5 overtook Honda's CRV. Just get a Mazda, they're better than Toyota because they're not fucking with their NAs.
>>28120578??? Mazda 3 competes with the Corolla on looks (not on mpg) and with the Civic (as comfy)
