1 who gives a shit you weren't going to go out and buy a brand new hybrid crossover anyway2 i don't love it but you do get used to it. i don't know exactly how vw does it but most of the time you can control everything through the steering wheel. people will make the biggest deal about "it's a distraction because you have to take your hands off the wheel and your eyes off the road" well no you don't. now you keep your hands on the wheel at all times

VAG is on a warpath against physical buttons. Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, all trading buttons for screens.
Physical buttons are expensive They need to comply with like 20 different regulatory bodies They need to last a million clicksMost of the tine they are made by a 3rd party that's sells them to car manufacturers for whatever price they want. Each button requires a part of the harness to connect to it.A single touchscreen can replace every single physical control for the cost of a single lcd screen. The cost saving are not passed on to you Manufacturer are never going back to physical control unless regulations make touch screens illegal
If there's two things that we can change about modern cars for good from a SAFETY perspective, it's remove physical controls in touch screens because they distract you. I mean we have laws against looking at your phone. Extend that to touch screens. And for two, put a brightness cap on headlights. LED headlights are way too bright EVEN in low beam mode and EVEN when angled correctly. These are things everyone can agree on. It's not about car design, or engine powertrain stuff.
>>28120024>They need to last a million clicksSurely this is not a problem, with all these Chinese switch brands that all claim 50 year 50 million click service lives, many with suspiciously similar names too.Oh wait, they usually just last a year or two before they're missing clicks or triggering multiple times from each press.Microswitches are starting to feel like yet another technology that just worked at some point, and then somehow turned into total shit.
>>28119379their consumers do?do you think whoever considers buying a brand new VAGina hybrid cuckover is also considering a 1971 plymouth cuda?
>there are people ITT right now that twiddle with their AC and audio constantly while drivingGet help. Audio is such a fucking non-issue. Any decent car has full audio control via your steering wheel buttons.
