Fucked up the thread name, so here we are I guess. Moving on; new years is but a few hours away, so what are your Miata related resolutions?

My suspected failure related to the clutch not disengaging seems to have been due to the clutch pedal not being adjusted correctly, which is a relief. That beings said, I discovered the my master cylinder is weeping slightly on the cabin side, so currently debating whether or not to rebuild it or just buy a new one. Leaning towards a new master, just because I know that the bore will have no imperfections, which is unlikely for the 29 year old factory original item. Anyone here ever rebuild their clutch master before?

I have an oil catch can for my ND2. Had it for a while and keep putting it off. Also, some gass strut hood props. After that I don't know what the fuck else I'll do. Already done full exhaust with tune and some suspension upgrades. Feels as good as it can be. Not doing any kind of boost.
>>
>>28185198
>gass strut hood props
>ND
Are they STILL not standard equipment on Miatas this late into the game? Jesus fucking Christ.
>>
Any car that doesn't come with a metal stick as the standard for holding the hood up can get fucked. You know what I love doing? Grabbing a 2x4 to hold the hood up so I can remove and replace those gay little shits that are supposed to hold the hood up. Wow so convenient, this is luxury.
>>
>>28185268
they literally take 15 seconds to swap out and cost like $10
>>
Are NA miatas worth it anymore? They've gotten so expensive now. I want something cheap to track and drift around in.I also want a manual car again. For reference I daily a 21 Audi s5.
>>
Been collecting parts as I have no garage and I am not freezing my ass off to put them on

>FM steering bushing upgrade
>Speed bleeders
>Rear cannon brace
>Hood and fender vents
>RGR side skirts

Been putting off the vents because the car was just painted and I don't know how to cut without wrecking paint
>>
>>28185480
NB.
>>
>>28185480
The only reason to choose an NA over an NB is quite literally aesthetics. Underneath they are essentially the same car, but the NB has some added chassis strengthening (which can hide rust, admittedly), a marginally more powerful engine, and bigger brakes for the later 1.8 sport model, and all at a cheaper price than most NA's. I love my NA, but when viewed solely as a tool, it is easily eclipsed by the NB.
>>
>>28185636

nbs really grew on me. if i bought a miata it would probably be a nb.
>>

>>
>>28184343
A new clutch master isn't that expensive, I'd just replace unless you think rebuilding would be fun
>>
>>28185636
Are NBs still less expensive than NCs?
>>
>>28186699
Yeah, that's pretty much the conclusion I've some to, too. It would also be way quicker and easier, and would better match my new master cylinder, for what that's worth.

>>28187078
Generally speaking, yes, at least here in the UK anyway. The cheapest usable NB's can be had for as low as £1,000 here, but the floor for NC's seems to be around £2,000. Not sure if the 100% increase rings true for other parts of the world, though.

I made an intake adaptor to go on the AFM with a cone filter, just temporary until I go standalone with MAP. I picked up a couple PSI of boost all through the range, very effective compared to stock GTX airbox. Every time I do an intake or exhaust mod I have to dial the boost controller back down a little because it pegs the 15psi boost gauge. 15 is safe, but I bring it down to 13-14 so its in range and not just reading maxed out.
>>
No idea who this is, but completely baffled as to why he continues accelerating while sideways. Poor NB.

could be annoying when i need to check the rear view mirror but its arms flying back at high speeds would be funny

>>
>>28187958
Probably difficult to tell what the fuck the suspension is doing after bottoming it out that hard lol. His car seems really understory for some reason.
>>
>>28187958
bro had some close calls even before the wreck. Driving way over his limit.
>>
>>28189239
Not really, he's racing at the limit of what the car and tyres are capable of, which is arguably the whole point of racing. Sure he misjudged the corner 0:46 a tad, but he was still in control of the car, and he was otherwise doing pretty good up until the corkscrew.
>>
>>28187958
He thought he could spin it straight, instead a wheel gripped and guided him into a wall. You can see the technique when racers lose it coming out of a corner and their rear tires keep smoking, it will keep you going in a straight line depending when the traction was lost and momentum angle.

Is there an archive with a comprehensive list of miata trims from every year and their features, including packages? I just noticed that Mazda updated the site for 2025 and there's no way to go back to older years. I've found a handful of articles and forum threads but they usually leave something out.

To be honest, even though I was driving for a couple hours last night, I have the memory of somebody with a long career in football so I'm not certain on the first two questions.
This is what I think I remember but I'm gonna go for a 20 minute drive after breakfast to confirm.
>1. 3, 4, 5
>2. It does feel different but I think my shifting issue is a separate thing since it can happen regardless of temp.
>3. Yes
>4. ~1500
>>
>>28193458
unless you're terrible at shifting and don't know it, you definitely need a new transmission anon, you just perfectly described a failing ND tranny. every shift should feel clean and notchy, all the time, once at operating temp
>>
>>28193699
well shit, I'll take it to the dealership tomorrow then. I hope I don't have to wait a long time to get it back but I've read they usually take a month to ship the replacement tranny.
>>
>>28193902
>1500 on the ODO and it's grinding
what the fuck? I wonder if it'll be something stupid like the clutch height / CMC wasn't set correctly or a failing slave.
>>

their prices are too high but it's nice for finding part numbers to plug into other oem part sellers. like going into brick and mortar stores to look at stuff before buying on amazon.
>>
>>28194696
I can really never find cheaper prices than the dealers. Jim ellis mazda, med center mazda, etc. Atkins rotary has very fast shipping at least but more limited selection.
>>
>>28194698
yeah i think all the mazda part sites i'm looking at are just the online sales front for various dealers.
>Jim ellis mazda, med center mazda
following the links to the parts stores from each site leads to links that time out. did they change the domain names and forget to update the links?

Does anyone with LS or general swap experience have any comments or advice for my V8 swap plan? Anything I'm missing?

Already bought the long block, a hoist, and a 2 post lift to facilitate this project so I'm about to dive in to the motor build/refresh
While I'm doing that I'll drop $6k on a transmission, diff and front subframe
Then I'll be ready to start disassembling basically the entire car...

should I be worried about driving on brined/salty roads for maybe 1 or 2 weeks a year if my car is new? how long does it take for rust to be an issue? is this just something to think about when your car is 20+ years old?

What are you going to do? Stop driving?
Don't worry about it

If you must, spray off the undercarriage when the temperature transitions from freezing to not freezing for a couple days. Don't bother if it's blow freezing the whole time.

The shifter turret takes oil, yes. If you have an NA or NB Miata and it hasn't had a shifter rebuilt yet, then this would be a good time to do it. They're often torn or perished, and it can tighten up the shifter. You can usually buy it as a "Shifter Rebuild Kit" that includes everything you need.
>>
>>28201116
Resonator resonates which is what you don't want. Google heimholtz chamber, a lot of higher tier exhausts use it, I think GWR has one for the ND. You can make one too.

Thicker exhaust pipes hold the noise better, old rx7 trick

One step closer to joining the Cult of the V8

>LC9 5.3L aluminum long block with 799 heads - $300
>LS6 intake, LS1 throttle, Deka injectors, Holly HF fuel rail - $600
>Going to pick up some used MSD coils tomorrow - $100

$1000 before accessories is way better than I expected to do with this motor.
Then it will be time for the $1200 Cam + DoD delete kit...
