What is it about a truck that has country guys foaming at the mouth? What are the pros and cons of trucks?
>>28191531Pros big and comfyCons not very fun to drive and difficult to see out of
>>28191554>Cons not very fun to drive and difficult to see out ofExcept they are fun to drive and not any worse to see out of than most vehicles on the road... Maybe you're really short and cant see over the dash?Pros: makes limp wristed faggots seethe, and can haul more stuff around effortlessly.
>>28191563Honestly the only con i can really think of is fuel mileage will be worse than some little car or crossover... Tires will probably be more expensive too especially with the retarded large rims they send them out with factory these days. If you can find an older pickup still running 16" rims then tires are cheap and widely available.
>>28191563>they are fun to driveHow? What are you enjoying? They're just big luxobarges. I've never been excited to take the truck out for a spin. Towing is not a consideration for me, or 95% of other people.
>>28191571I like driving big stuff. The bigger and slower the better. Probably because I grew up on a farm and have driven tractors and other large equipment my whole life.
>>28191571>They're just big luxobargesExactly. Only way to get a 120"+ wheelbase, body on frame construction, and a V8 engine nowadays not to mention the option of having a bench seat. It's why yes, lots of "luxury" trim trucks aren't used for work - they just replaced the fullsize sedans and personal luxury cars that they can't build anymore.
>>28191573That's fair I guess. Whenever I borrow my brother's pickup for something, it feels sluggish and boaty compared to what I would call a fun car. That reminds me, actually,Con people will want to borrow/use your truck
>>28191531Idk I just want a Jap made prius
>>28191566Yeah it’s pretty much just runnings costs but 17 inch tires are available nowadays so it’s not like it’s heinous
>>28191571New ones are very quiet and milk toast but capable in every aspect which is fine for work/dd. Older ones can be a great time with cool noises and aesthetics. Luv taking a spin in my OBS ford and touching 50 psi on boost and black smoke behind me.
>>28191531People don’t complain about rangers and the likes. They complain about F150s, Silverados and similar monstrosities.
>>28191531Amerifat masculinity is larping as a redneck tradie but too stupid to restore a square body.
There is something very satisfying about driving a big ass truck or just any pickup in generalAlso they're great for going off road
>>28191866Old trucks suck. If you truly need your truck for truck stuff then they don't cut it. I have a 96 7.3L F250 and it's only rated for towing 10k lbs, and it gets 8mog doing it. It's also slow and rides like shit and just sucks but it's okay because I don't tow much, often, or far. A new 3.5L V6 F150 can tow 14k lbs, gets way better mpgs and does it with cheaper gas, rides better, has a nice interior, is really quick when it's empty, it's just better. Assuming money isn't a problem then there's no reason to ever have an old truck, other than they look cool. You can't even make the wrenching argument because the engine bay of a turbo diesel is a nightmare. I mean you can work on it but it fucking sucks. You can work on an econoost too but it fucking sucks. At least it doesn't have 30 years worth of dirt and oil and corrosion to fight through
>>28191531>I need a truckbuy it>I don't need a truckbuy a car
>>28191531Like women, piddup twugg drivers enjoy sitting high up on the road, but their fragile grasp on their masculinity won't let them buy a SUV/CUV/cuckover.
>>28193513SUVs aren't as funI mean if I could, I'd have a RAV4 and a Tacoma/Tundra
Pros: Fun to drive, capable for towing and hauling, very spacious and comfortable, physically large, good off-road and in snow, great for outdoor activities, tons of power and passing ability on the highway. Usually have a good variety of engine options and configurations.Cons: expensive, not as good on fuel compared to economy cars, more difficult to park in tight lots (still manageable of course), lack of a normal trunkTrucks have gotten a lot of attention by manufacturers because they are profit centers and in demand. So trucks, even 3/4 and 1 tons, are very comfortable now and have luxurious interiors. This started with top trims but in a sense trickled down to lower trim levels so even lower trim trucks nowadays ride pretty decently and have some good features. For buyers that live in the country or are home owners, having a vehicle that can haul dirty items in the bed or building materials for projects really comes in handy. If there is room in the cab for the family, it really is a do all vehicle. Half tons with IFS and better mileage have become a good value proposition and decently economical recently.Over the last 10 years or so, trucks have become a status symbol item as well. Even still, trucks are viewed much more positively among blue collar folks than luxury vehicles. And for some reason they still cause liberal city slickers to seethe. It really is a head scratcher.
I'm OCD about maintaining my own ride and would never buy a truck because washing it seems like a nightmare.I don't want any ol' minimum-wage Hozay to throw a dirty rag on top and scratch the shit outta my roof.Granted it's high up so doing oil changes will be easier, may not even have to jack up the trugg. But gott dayum the washing, and the ass-pain-sive tire changes make me say no.
>>28191531Pros: large enough for everyone, multipurpose, reasonably reliable, almost comfortable, good visibilityCons: low MPG for being new, very large, poor quality, crummy handling
>>28194149You'll never convince me that 3/4 tons and up ride goodAnything above a half ton feels like a chuck wagon, and I say this as someone who DDs an older corvette
>>28191531I need one ton springs and one ton axles for my one ton girlfriend (your mother.)
>>28194620>low MPG for being newPeople need to retire this meme. The small diesel 1/2 ton pickups can get 30+mpg on the highway. Even the V8 half tons can easily get 25+mpg highway. Their city mileage is still going to be 20ish which is on par with most 4cyl crossovers. >>28194623Modern upper trim big trucks ride really nice. Obviously your companies clapped out base model 3/4 ton isn't going to ride like a Cadillac. A new 3/4 ton with coil suspension, big 35''+ tires and good shocks is going to glide down the road. I've driven plenty of 5 ton trucks that were extremely smooth despite having leaf springs all around and extremely thick tires at 120psi.
>>28194149>trucks are viewed much more positively among blue collar folksModern lux brands are insufferable, unattainable, gey, or completely forgettableNutruggs, to me, are a combination of cargo-culting 60's-80's small town suburb american life, and 21st century neuroticismTheir design is a combination of both thought processes:>square, brutish bodystyles>angery lights and techy oversafetyificationThe left wingers saying "smol peen lel" and "low T" are (mostly) just parroting the narrative and/or projecting, they're not actually analyzing the situation or daring to meet or, god forbid, understand, the mythical truck owners
>>28194635>>for being newYeah they'll get much better mileage than a '76 deville but 15 city 25 hwy is lower than a cuckoverI'd eat the gas cost anyways, if I had to own a nucar... I'd go for the LS500 kekBut if that wasn't avaliable I'd go for a trugg because cuckovers are trash and the remaining small sedans/hatches have shit viaibility
>>28191580>they just replaced the fullsize sedans and personal luxury cars that they can't build anymoreYupCase in point: the lincoln blackwoodIt failed because 00's luxotrucks (and SUVs) were lazy and rushed, but this thing had the right idea: the bed was literally just a big, carpeted trunk, thus making said "truck" into an oddly-shaped 1960s-style full-size sedanOf course this wouldn't go over well with a buyer, as who would pay *extra* to *remove* utility functionality? If it got a second gen the bed would definitely revert to an actual bed, but in spirit, the designers nailed exactly what people really want, even if they don't realize
>>28193447>Assuming money isn't a problem then there's no reason to ever have an old truck, other than they look cool. That's why I got my 94 Ford. Just needed a truck for picking shit up and older ones are cheap. Also looks sexy. But new Fords completely stock with no bullshit addons also look great.
This enrages the europeasant
>>28191531on 364 days a year it compensates small dick and social insecurity.on 1 day per year it tows the boat that probably doesnt even exist.
>>28193447>You can work on an econoost too but it fucking sucks.fwiw though they're insanely tuneable with minimal actual mechanical work, usually just an intake and maybe injectors. The dollar to HP/TQ ratio you get is insane compared to tuning N/A cars or even older turbos and they hold it well if you don't go crazy too, Ford will even sell you a 30-50HP flash for like a grand that doesn't affect your warranty.
>>28195500>muh dickWhy do all you seething copelets always have only one thing on your mind?
>>28191531idk about country guys desu, they probably have reasons to like trucks. if u are suburban person there are better things for ur money over truck, its just larp i guess. unless u work trades for later, then its actually very handy
>>28191531>>28196074idk whats with americans and larping as laborers tho, in my country its opposite
>>28196074You know trucks are good for more than just hauling things, right? Are you following these "larpers" around for months at a time? How do you know they're not using it on the weekends to go camping and shit?
>>28191580Hey retard, everything about old cars that made them comfy to drive was the soft suspension travel, long travel, soft/large sidewall tires and long wheelbases. There is nothing inherently good about body on frame that makes them comfortable to drive. In fact it's the opposite. Its floaty and keeps jiggling after you hit every single bump. It feels like ass. I'm sorry your poor trailer trash ass was raised in the back seat of one but they're not good. Look at old toyotas. Those were peak comfy and unibody. Also who the fuck thinks a truck rides well, there's literally a phrase called "rides like a truck". Are you guys retarded?
>>28196074Even if you work trades, an Estate, a big SUV or even a minivan is way more practical.
>>28196295first thing i did with my truck was haul a load of old shitters to the dump i wouldn't want to be fucking up the interior of a vehicle with that kind of load but i understand an electrician or plumber getting more use out of a van for sure especially from a security standpoint.
>>28196289What kinds of trucks have you driven? Why bother posting this bullshit when it's 2025?
>>28196078>in my countrywhere laborers larp as Americans?
>>28191531I lived in a sedan for three months and decided I'm never owning a vehicle I can't make cozy in a pinch ever again. Minivans, SUVs, and trucks are my only options now.
Europoors and otherr thirdies just can't imagine having any disposable income, that's why they can't fathom Americans driving a truck everyday
>>28196367You don't even need disposable income to drive a truck in America. You can be a Mc worker and comfortably afford one. Euros think every truck is $100k when in reality they cost as much as a econobox in Europe.
>>28195178>"europoorths btfo," he lisped to no one in particular
>>28191531Uh, you do know what "foaming at the mouth means", and you do know what the stereotype about "country guys" is with regards to trucks is, right?
>>28196305where blue collarfags buy latest iphone and shit like that. in usa rednecks just wear old flannel and jeans
>>28196382Show us your 1.3 liter citroen, europoor
>>28191531I rather drive a muscle car, sports car, luxury car, convertible or super car
>>28196484Because you're immature and low test.
>>28196078accessible form of white masculinity
>>28191531when you actually get into the country you usually see the beater or somewhat nice family sedan, a beater truck or sometimes a nice truck along side the beater
>>28196376most used trucks within 4 years in my area are running $25-30k. These models basically get the same mpg as non-ecoshitter sedans 10 years ago so why not get the truck if you're getting into something newer.
>>28191563So the benefits are for other people's use?
>>28191573I bet you'd cream yourself if you were put behind the wheel of that moving platform for the space shuttle
>>28191580Too bad they're far less cool that what they eeplaced
>>28196298I used to work in the trades, and my boss drove a Chevy Express van with a trailer. All his tools were inside the van, somewhat safe from theft and definitely safe from the climate, and if he ever needed to haul dirty shit, he just threw it in the trailer. In practice, that van could carry WAY more shit than my coworkers' pickup trucks. To me, the full-size body-on-frame van always made more logical sense if you were a tradesman. But a lot of them just refused to buy vans because "hurr durr looks like a pedo car"
>>28194635>Highway mpg is good therefore all mileage is good My shitbox gets about 32mpg highway
>>28196502Seething
>>28196503its not like tyrone and paco dont work labor jobs
>>28191531Nothing wrong with pickups, I hate the current absolute state of pickups being made now though, rather the lack of options. If I need something small for random odds and ends, and move shit around, I no longer have an option for a truck on the smaller side from the factory. If I just want to haul a bunch of plywood my only choice is an oversized monstrosity luxury brand truck. Where the fuck did all of the options go?
>>28194149>Fun to driveYour autotragic shitbarge is not fun to drive. You enjoy sitting up high in a larger car. You have a woman brain.
>>28196981If 500hp and 1200lbft doesn't sound like fun then I don't know what to tell you. If I want to shift gears I drive my mustang.
>>28196660>But a lot of them just refused to buy vans because "hurr durr looks like a pedo car"This is a valid concern when you're assumed guilty until proven innocent in pedo allegations. I don't think the tradesmen should plaster their company logo on their personal work van though just to avoid that assumption.
>>28196977>If I just want to haul a bunch of plywood my only choice is an oversized monstrosity luxury brand truckOr.... you can just rent a truck for the one day out of every 6 years you buy this "plywood" that every truck lover talks about.
>>28196078Even in America, the idea of a big sedan, a vehicle that was strictly to be used on roads and not off road and to strictly haul people around instead of cargo, that meant you were wealthy and not blue collar. It's only a recent thing, I think since the 90s where there's been an obsession with trying to appear blue collar or rugged
>>28197768rent cucks should be executed
>>28197768>having no options for the average consumer is okay because... IT JUST IS OKAY!??!?
>>28191531"Goddamn sums a bishes took away muh column shifter an stuck this hockey puck ah can barely get my glove fisted hand aroun when dumpin bales for the cattle!"
>>28197768Okay then what do I do for the other 300 days of the year I need to move a bed of tubingBecause buying a behemoth meant to move a trailer is not meant for people like me. There is nothing in the current market straight out of the factory for people like me.
>>28191531>country guysUsually truck guys in the country prefer HD trucks. F150s are the modern sedan for every man, man.
>>28196977You can still order regular cab short bed trucks.
>>28191531Pros: everyone will know you have small dick and treat you nicer out of pityCons: you might mistaken for some sort of peasant that performs manual labor
>>28199520When are you euros going to start living in 2024?
>>28197768Plywood is a meme for people interested in trucks and will actually use the bed. Because the plywood test is literally the most basic litmus test on if your truck is has a usable design, or if it's a glorified luxury vehicle for white women or those who aspire to be one. Guess what the first thing the new generation of trucks started to fail on.
>>28191531You can put one children's size mattress worth of dirty shit in the back without having to worry about cleaning interior upholstery. Means you don't have to hitch a trailer to your SUV for muh quad and muh dirtbike, you just have to leave one wheel hanging off the edge of the bed unsafely.
>>28196977Having used a pickup truck to move once, I feel much safer using a trailer, preferably an enclosed one but an open top will do. Much easier to load and tie shit down. The best thing is a damn box truck if you really need to haul shit, which can be readily rented in pretty much any city. I wouldn't waste all that gas and struggle to park a truck daily when it's so easy to rent what you need. I'd only get one as a work truck or if I were taking a dirt bike out every weekend and even then most these truck beds don't even fit a bike in them. I kinda don't want a 25 foot long vehicle anyway, they all park like assholes.
>>28191554I can see just fine out of my 95 obs.Maybe you shouldnt buy overpriced plastic goyslop.
>>28200049but the plywood thing was always so stupid. >"you can't even put an exactly 8ft long piece of wood in the bed!"yes i can. i can prop it over the tailgate. i can get a bed extender. i could just open the tailgate and strap it in. >"...n-no that doesn't count!"it's like the people who claim to be such truck purists forget that the tailgate goes up and down. bed extenders completely over write the need for an 8ft bed. it turns a 5.5 bed into exactly 8 feet. so you have all the practicality of an 8 ft bed but with the added bonus of a full size cab. that's an extra 3ft or so of safe dry storage. or you can put passengers in it. or fold the seats up and throw your dogs in the back. you can always find a way to put an 8ft thing in a 5.5 ft bed but you can never ever substitute an 8ft bed for backseats.
>>28197768Spoken like someone that doesn't own a home.
