Not really crazy for a pickup truck
>>
>>28191769
Why don't you just test drive it instead of looking at spreadsheets of numbers all day
>>
>>28191935
im planning on doing that today

then get a car

its turning radius is pretty bad, its steering also feels heavy and labored. test drive one before buying a 3rd gen tacoma, like i did.
>>
>>28191989
op here, just test drove 2025 frontier and 2024 taco (thats what they had) and the frontier feels like youre driving a semi truck its insane, i drive a f450 at work with a bucket and it feels easier to drive than that n ass in. now i just gotta figure out how old i wanna go with the tacoma is a 2023 fine or is it beyond reproach. i want a newish car
>>
from what I've gleaned from the owners facebook group (I was interested in this truck), most are happy with their purchase save for some problems here and there which include:
>leaking diff cover
>shifting issues requiring new valve body or full trans replacements
>speedo not matching close to actual road speed on release models. it's like 7mph off at 55
>leaking roof seam
these are the main ones other than general fit and finish. quite a few complaints about interior panel gaps or sun warping plastic dash trim. another issue to think of is, is it a good idea to buy a truck from a OEM without a certain future? Nissan is in the dumps ATM. They had a 99% drop in profit YTD at end of Q3 2024. They're also in talks of a Honda/Nissan merger. Nissans market day supply metric also doesn't look good for the frontier but could help you in negotiations if you still like the truck. Currently they have about 140 days supply of Frontiers so don't let the dealer BS you with "these are pretty popular. I have another guy coming right now to buy it".
>>
Just get a fiat 500
>>
>>28191769
I have one but don’t have enough miles on it to have had any real issues. The turning radius is bad though but you get used to it. The stock tires they put on pro4xs aren’t great either, they spin very easily and don’t like the wet at all. Ditch the hangooks for some falken ATs and you’re set.

op here just test drove this and the taco
this truck drives like a boat do not buy this its impossible to park or turn or even just drive around a slightly tight corner the taco feels like a sports car compared to this brick of a car
>>
>>28192327
Do you live in the city or something? It really isn’t that bad lmao
>>
>spend $50k+ on a "small truck" with the turning radius of a full sized SUV that's shit to drive and is already riddled with serious issues
>i-it's not that bad lol
Holy delusion lmao. All to be a hipster instead of buying a better truck you "don't need".
>>
>>28191769
What did you expect from a real truck?
I respect it for having a V6 unlike the Toyota.
>>
>>28192371
“Hipster” this “riddled with serious issues” that, “just buy a better truck bro!!!!”. Look at this faggot whining about vehicles he’ll never own. Keep being inconsolably mad that people enjoy a truck that exists apparently only to spite you
>>
>>28192327
You just can’t drive. But go ahead and get the taco, nobody really cares. The frontiers steering is so heavy because it’s possibly the most overbuilt vehicle commercially available in the United States. Just a warning with the taco, hope you like getting bullied merging on the express way, or any busy road for that matter.
>>
>>28192426
i can drive great, youre just poor and dont have 15k extra to get a good truck
>>
>>28192245
I test drove a 2025 hilux which is equivalent (almost identical) to a 2023 tacoma and the interior on the hilux is awful. If you care about this sort of thing, the 24/25 tacoma is so much better that it’s not even funny. Engine-wise, it’s still up to grabs. The new one has a hybrid v4 which the hilux probably won’t adopt any time soon.
I don’t care too much about the interior myself but I feel insulted buying a truck with such shoddy quality when I can get a 24/25 ranger that looks much better for a bit less money.

>>
>>28192445
t. HELLO SAAR i am ai /o/ bot, i post random nonsense
>>
>>28191769
this truck is a beast in the snow and ice even, the heavy steering makes it easy to recover if it starts to slide
>>
>>28192426
>it’s possibly the most overbuilt vehicle commercially available in the United States
You can't be serious.
You want to see overbuilt, look at the front suspension of an F250 Super Duty and compare it to its competition - Ram 2500 and the GM 2500HD twins. The tie rods and ball joints and steering knuckles on the Ford are waaay beefier than the other ones. The Ford isn't going to ride as nice because of the extra unsprung weight, but it's meant for working.
>>
>>28194314
Ok? Ford and GM are still shit lol. The size of tie rods and other suspension components doesn’t change that
>>
>>28194364
I accept that you've been proven wrong conceding, as that's not an argument
>>
>>28192426
>hope you like getting bullied merging on the express way,
You are a nigger and I thank god every day my country doesn't have to deal with your jungle lifestyle
>>
>>28194390
That still won’t make Fords “overbuilt”
>>
>>28191769
The cybertruck has 4 wheel steering, so does the new hummer. Also a few 2000s GMC pickups/yukon XLs had 4 wheel steering.

Gotta have 4 wheel steering if you want a good turning radius in a full size truck

My Yukon XL turns tighter than a lot of compact FWD's and crossovers. Quadrasteer would be pretty trippy but it definitely isn't necessary to drive something like that in the city.

It's a good truck when you don't have a little bitch in your ear telling you that it sucks
>>
How worth it is getting the pro4x over a 4x4 SV. I like doing light trails and want to consider more road trips and light offroading, but I've never had a rear locker and I have no idea if it's worth nicer shocks at the same ride height.
>>
>>28191769
It's just a matter of perspective. I grew up driving 80s C/K pickups, so anything has a smaller turn radius. I'm amazed by the agility of my 2011 Silverado 1500, and even more so by compact trucks like your pic. Turn radius is fine, any complaints are skill issue.
>>
>>28197465
Rear locker can definitely make a difference and save your ass in some situations, just watch some vids of the things on trails and judge for yourself
>>
>zoomies too weak to handle hydraulic steering
>expect a good turning radius from a truck
Lel
>>
>>28197465

I personally wouldnt bother unless you need it once every other week. I use mine often but that is due to laziness and me wanting to park by the back door without digging holes in my hillside grass when it is wet. If I didn't have it I wouldn't cry and I go down some rough fucking roads that give my old defender a hard time. Also the fact that it needs to be in low range for it to engage is retarded. As soon as the warranty is up I am getting an anytime locker switch
>>
>>28199000
I'm mostly looking to reduce wear rather than doing things I can only do with a locking diff. Slowly pushing rather than full throttle or bouncing the suspension to get over lighter obstacles.
>>28199086
Makes sense. If it were just the locker it wouldn't justify the price in my opinion but with the skid plate, suspension, and locker it does save me a little time and money on upgrades I may decide I want with the locker as bonus.
Hard to say if it's worth the $3,000 dollar difference.
>>
>>28191769
Got a rental and had to drive it out of a parking garage, absolutely awful. If you don't do much inner city driving you probably wouldn't notice but I picked up on it without being told beforehand.
>>
>>28191769
Nissans are so shitty they just went bankrupt. Don't buy any of their shit. Good riddance. Maybe the merger with Honda will sort their shit out. I drove an older Frontier and it was hands down, THE worst vehicle I'd ever driven. Everything was destroyed within a few years including the manual transmission and the manual seats. How the fuck do manually adjustable seats break? Idk, but they didn't adjust for very long.
