I don't have all my cars stored in one location right now due to selling a house and moving into a flat while my next house was finishing construction. I still own them, they are just clogging up relatives driveways for now.

I wasn't saying you don't still own them. I'm saying you posting an old pic of you owning multiple of them doesn't mean they're not a rare occurrence in the wild nowadays.

Dude this could have been great if only you kept the original radio, or added another one with an aluminium faceplate. This early-2000s one is so out of place.
>>
>>28199486
I don't really care. This worked. The original clarion nissan units for this time were ass and many cars had their head units replaced multiple times. To add insult to injury this car had the separate DSP module and amp under the passenger seat.
I went through 5 units in the s12, in addition to the 3 it had replaced under warranty. As long as the lights matched the dash, I was happy enough.

I did end up replacing the dash in my S12 sadly. When the power supply failed for the VFD and Dash driver board, it pushed 24V through the ttl circuits, frying seemingly the entire logic side of the of the cluster.

That's a really nice dash with those aftermarket gauges. Out of curiosity, why swap the cluster? What else is custom about the car? How are the gauges wired?

I've thought about using them too, but that's still quite far off.
>>
>>28200999
The original cluster died. I spent hours trying to repair the dash and replaced a long chain of components to try and revive it but it was a lost cause. A replacement digital cluster was about 900 dollars, untested at the time and I was not about to take that risk.

The car has a steel syncroed competition box, it's on lowering springs with thicker shock oil up front, fox body rear struts, full poly or delrin bushes, modified twin spark (bridges to both plugs in each cylinder fire at the same time, and the biggest webcams camshaft it could handle without needing additional modifications.

The dash gauges are all wired up in the cluster area with intermediary adaptors I made. The original car uses an optical spedo output from a sending unit in the engine bay. That's powered by a relayed dcdc buck converter at 5v, and feeds it's non standard 24ppr output signal into a 555 counter chip to get it back down to a normal range for aftermarket gauges. Tacho signal is just a straight hook up off the dizzy. Oil sending unit and water temp are replacement two prong sensors, instead of old fashion single wire slow report units. The fuel level gauge also has a DC/DC buck to feed the rear sending unit with the 9volts it works with and then the gauge is just calibrated in the car.
