Why does this scare you so much?
>>
>>28193394
It's not fear, it's convenience.

Let's make an example, the newspaper is a dying industry right now. The reason it's dying is the internet. But ages ago all other tech advances were supposed to kill the newspaper, radio news was supposed to kill the neswpaper, then TV news, but that never happened, and the reason was convenience. Radio and TV news required you to be at a certain place (in front of the TV or radio) and at a certain time. The newspaper was there all day, for you to dear at your leisure. It wasn't until the internet came along and you didn't have to buy the newspaper anymore that it's finally dying as an industry.

Same deal with transmissions, it's not that people are afraid of manuals, it's that autos and CVTs allow them to just accelerate and brake, just put the car in D and accelerate and brake. with manuals you need to know how to shift lest you destroy that reliable shit on your own. why learn when you can buy an automatic or a CVT and just accelerate and brake?
>>
>>28193394
I love manual transmissions. It sucks that new cars come with fake manual transmission like the new tacoma.
>>
>>28193407
Fake manual transmission? The fuck?
>>
>>28193394
Not at all. All 3 of my tractors have manual transmissions. My car has automatic because as the first poster said, it's about convenience.
>>
>>28193419
He probably means there is no direct mechanical connection to the gearbox.
Your in cabin controls just make suggestions to an ECU that then does the shifting.
>>
>>28193394
It doesn't though. I enjoyed my manual car when I had it and I enjoy my automatic car that i have now. People who make a big deal over it are frankly autistic.
>>
>>28193394
It's old tech
>>
quite the opposite for me, automatics scare me (cause I've never driven one). I've got absolutely no idea what to do with it.

As if old tech can't get the job done and in many cases more reliably.

"Old" should never be automatically be equated to "ineffective".
>>

Convenience will be the death of us. Im so tired of this shit.
>>

there is literally nothing wrong with a commercial model keurig especially since they got rid of the anti-competitive qr code reader. you can just buy your own reusable cups and fill them with your own coffee.
a big drip machine is great for making a lot of coffee for multiple people but for a couple of cups a day for yourself that thing is top tier.

and of course some fag will claim french press or a moka or whatever is better but the french and italians are fucking gay so it's completely irrelevant

>implying normal coffee machines are not also made of plastic
>implying there isn't filter material and "food grade" glue in your drip brew

the boiler in a keurig is metal, the reusable cups have metal mesh, if you wanted to avoid microplastics you wouldn't be drinking coffee you didn't pick, roast and grind yourself.
>>
>>28193739
>its not just plastic but also chinesium metal
youre right let me just poison my next 3 generation of offspring instead of committing the impossible task of roasting and grinding my coffee.

YOU give a shit and use re-usable k-cups with your own grinds. There's probably dozens of you, anon. Dozens! Everybody else is busy filling up landfills with little plastic cups with every brew.
>>
>>28193781
there is a recycling program for the cups and used grounds at office supply stores where keurigs are primarily sold.
there's far more than dozens or else the reusable cup wouldn't exist.
also fuck india or wherever landfill they end up at

i """daily drove""" a 5 speed manual for 3 years. i'm not afraid of it, i just don't care to waste my time doing it anymore.

As a euroboomer I’m more scared of picrel.
Like… what are those letters even? What do I do?
>>
>>28193394
It doesn't. Shifting gears is fun, and DCTs aren't the same.
>>
>>28193853
where is the MSDS that shows the plastic in k-cups or the machine itself contains bisphenol A? where was the uproar for them when baby bottles and food storage containers were found to be contaminated?
surely if this were true and not inane schizoid delusions caused by lead poisoning from your "organic" coffee beans, you could produce some documentation or study demonstrating it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polypropylene

here is the plastic from which the cups are made. are you suggesting that this material, which is also used in the medical industry to make drug delivery products like eye droppers and syringe bodies, is somehow not appropriate for the task of containing some hot water for less than 30 seconds?

are you fucking stoned?
>>
>>28193394
It doesn't, I yearn to own another manual transmission vehicle again but until I own my own home so I can store all the multiple vehicles I will have to wait until then.
>>
>>28193394
>2/3 of my cars are manual
Why are you implying that it does?
>>
>>28193394
It doesn't, it's just that every single one I had so far had lackluster reliability
>>
>>28194003
PP, especially low grade, begins becoming unstable at boiling temperatures. Aluminum will leach in acidic conditions. Im sure theres also some glue in there somewhere, totally safe though and nothing to worry about. The science we have today on these new, exciting and most importantly, convenient products is final and definitely not subject to change. Enjoy your troonshine coffee.

Transmissions are scared of me
>>
>>28193394
It doesn’t scare me, I’d love to learn it I just don’t have a manual and can’t find one to learn it or know anyone with one :(
>>
>>28193406
>why learn when you can buy an automatic or a CVT and just accelerate and brake?
Because I'm not gay
>>
>>28193708
>drinks goyslop
>calls people who care gay
woman were such a mistake
>>
ECVT currently reigns supreme as the most dependable transmission.
>>
>>28193394
It's weird; my cousin is 36 and was looking to buy a cheap used car yesterday since his old car was a write-off but he flat-out REFUSED to buy one with a manual transmission even though they were the cheapest junk cars. He simply said "I don't do manual". This nigga was born in the 80s too. It must be a mental thing. I remember being at high school here in Australia 20 years ago and other guys made it out like you must be gay if you drove a car with an automatic transmission.
>>
I learned on a manual and fortunately haven't driven one since 2003. Never going back to that caveman shit lol

i want to learn but i don't have a manual car desu. maybe i should get a cheap one to learn, but i wouldn't even know how to drive it home lol
>>
>>28197788
just remember it's ok to let the clutch slip a bit, no more than 2 secs is a good rule of thumb but as you get better, try to make it quicker and smooth
>>
>>28197727
>he can't move at the average speed of the traffic
>>
>>28193394
I dont know.
I can ride my motorbike just fine but put me in a manual car and I stall the fuck out/ shift like shit/ forget to shift.
I think I just need more time behind the wheel but a sequential manual and a cars stick feel worlds apart in how you work the clutch and gears.
imo doing it hand and foot is way easier than foot and foot
>>
>>28198043
sorry for that last sentence, I need sleep
I think having the clutch and throttle controls at your hands and gears at your foot is easier than clutch and throttle at your feet and gears at your hand
>>
>>28193394
It doesn't

I drive a stick

>>28197788
>>28197853
it's easier than it looks
you could always ask someone to learn on their car, go to a course/class or just watch youtube videos honestly

>>

I'm transgender and my dad disowned me, let me tell you about the zf8hp and how fast it shifts
>>
>>28193394
I had to drive a manual truck for work (Nissan Frontier) that would stall going into first at random times. I'd stall 3 or more times per workday in the middle of the road when the light would turn green or at a stop sign. The possibility of just stalling out of nowhere is a no-go for me. A vehicle is a convenience, might as well be fully convenient. You're basically saying you'll still put gas in your vehicle and pay for it when nuclear reactor vehicles come out and you can drive with free fuel. You just want some arcane time snapshot, you like the noise and grinding of the gears. If that's the feeling you want, cool. I'd even get an EV because they're quiet and less stinky if the batteries weren't such a shitshow with their weight, charging times, and lifespan.
>>
>>28194952
Brainlet here, what's wrong with that picture?
>>
>>28193394

It's been a while since I've seen this. That transmission has to be butter smooth.
>>
>>28201107
>rear engined bus
hate to break it to you, but its an auto manual with a fake shifter. the synchros are being mashed into place by air pressure, the transmission is at the rear of the bus
>>
>>28198107
That's some zesty shifting right there.
