It's still really fun to drive and a nice place to be in. It's honestly on the same performance level as the low $30s sport compact (think GTI or WRX) if you can get Race mode programmed in.

Good call on the front tires, seems to be a thing with Alfas not letting you fit enough tire. Though I think that's common for this class of car, e.g. Lexus IS has the same problem. >>28197232I actually find the Torsen Diff RWD cars hard to find because I live in a snow state. 90% of the ones for sale here are Q4 AWD cars with low specs. >>28197838That's actually really fucking cool. How much does it weigh? What did you do for tuning? How difficult was it to put the race mode in to shut off traction/stability control fully? >>28197240Bigger is always better. I'm used to running 255s or 265s on 300-350hp 3200lb cars like Evos/WRXs/CTRs. I mean stock fitment on a G80 M3 is like 275/285s and that's 500hp/3700lbs.
Also the brakes on this car are the fucking gayest worst piece of shit brakes for driving around town that you've ever tried. No matter what they grab really hard as soon as you drop below like 3mph so that the car can shut the engine off for muh drive cycle fuel consumption.
Literally zero (0) reason to get this over a 340i without mentioning reddit stereotypes about who drives certain brands or something

>>28197972>insecureI dont own any European car brands and never have. I have no skin in the game here. I still think people who buy alfas instead of bmws are just trying to be special snowflakes
>>28198000thats the whole pointif you wanted the fastest best performing car in the segment with no consideration for emotions you buy a tesla model 3 performance
>>28197959It's just brake by wire, I've got 20 year old cars with "electric" brakes and they act the same. They help instill confidence when you can tap the brakes in an emergency (high speeds, late into a corner etc) and you know you're going to have enough stopping power. Once you learn to smoothly roll off the brake as you stop and you'll be doing chauffer-smooth stops in no time.Brake hardware itself is Brembo, and the "Integrated Brake System MK C1" (yes, IBS) is made by Continental and both companies are known for making good hardware. Stop/start should also be the first thing permanently disabled by either an adapter, a tune, or better yet, both.>>28197969>soulless steering>maccas struts>open diff>$10k difference used w/ similar mileageDifferent market. I shopped many 230i and 330i models before buying my Giulia since those were what's actually priced similarly. I did look at one nice M240i that was in my price range, but it had 60k more miles than the Giulia and was still more expensive. No, I don't care that it might be faster in a straight line, I've got other (boosted V8) vehicles for that.>>28198000Trips of truth, I've no shame. I owned many BMWs in my day from E39/46/53/60/90 and generally liked them. After moving to Mercedes after a while it was either go back to BMW, or finally get to try an Alfa that's not a 164, Spider or vintage Giulia. Without using a bunch of cliches belonging in the Top Gear Italian Car Road Test Cliche Swear Box, I just find them fun, cool and rare enough to make seeing another one cool.
I remember working on one of these and it had the most convoluted procedure to reset the maintenance reminder. Wouldn't let you reset it with a scan tool either. They looks nice but I wouldn't own this past the warranty period, Alfa isn't exactly known for their long term reliability. Also hate that they only have 2 pedals in the US.
>>28198011>most convoluted procedure to reset the maintenance reminderNot if you've got the proper software and $30 worth of cables, which anyone owning or working on one of these should invest in. It's one of the most simple resets, in fact. Click "Service Interval Reset" and the menu on the right is what pops up.
>>28197927i could go wide in the rear but i like to keep the weight down as much as possible and I like how neutral square setups drive

>>28198041understandable, 255s all around also keep tire costs reasonable, is the weight (3500lbs/1600kg) a issue for extended lapping with that size tire? i like to fit as wide as possible why i askiirc i remember reading its hard to fit anything wider than 255s up front

>>28198066yeah 255 in the front is pretty much the limit without mods

>>28198066>is the weight an issue?no, I just like it that way. I’m closer to 3340lbs/1525kg after around 163lbs/74kg of weight reduction
>>28198307That's actually pretty damn good. A Evo/STi is on average 3200lbs without weight reduction. It sounds like you have the same p2w as a E46 M3.What did you do for tuning? I know it's usually flash tunes. Does the tune raise the redline? I know the redline on these cars is absurdly low factory like 5700rpms but it's because the turbo is tiny and runs out of its efficiency range quickly.

>>28198391wheres your track cari think its fucking cool you gigantic faggot
>>28198009>Once you learn to smoothly roll off the brake as you stop and you'll be doing chauffer-smooth stops in no time.Wrong. It's programmed to grab as you come to a stop, so there's no true "champagne stop". Even if you do manage to come to a complete stop without any suspension rebound (not even possible every time) it's still noticeably less smooth than it would be in any car with normal brakes. You either are just pretending it's not that bad or you have low standards for a champagne stop. Not to mention how annoying it is to have to deal with it (if you actually care enough to stop smoothly). This is an FCA thing btw, but the Alfas are the worst about it. Plenty of manufacturers have brake by wire that isn't this shit, FCA just forced the low-speed grab since they were getting hit with huge environmental impact taxes.
