How should one go about making picrel suspension handle the track better, except installing Watt's linkage?
>>
>>28195400
Watts and driver mod
>>
>>28195400
Torque arm 3 link and coilovers. Also, subframe connectors.
>>
IRS swap

>subframe connectors.
Well this one's obvious. Could I use just any harder shock absorber instead of coilovers? Trynna keep it cheap

American Iron racing series has rules on only allowing "factory style" suspension.
Because some mustangs had a live axle version plus the IRS cobra variants, either is allowed regardless of what that specific car had from the factory so many convert to the IRS
The wins are about 50/50.
If you automatically think IRS is "better" than a live axle it shows how little knowledge you posses.
>>

Yeah you always crap on about your gay amateur American Iron with the worst IRS ever created.
PROFESSIONAL COMPETITIVE Touring car racing already settled this debate in the 80s
(IRS mogged)

What's irs?

Stiffer spring packs, a pinion snubber, and a sway bar. Add 1 extra leaf to the passengers side for torque twist. Straight axels are easy.
>>
>>28195468
Yes. If you aren't going coilovers you want your rear suspension as stiff as possible.
>>
>>28195400
Gut it and replace everything with multilink.

That has the axle longitudinally located by the springs. You need radius arms or a 4 link. Maybe coil spring
>>
>>28195613
Wouldn't sway bar in front make the rear end have less traction in a turn tho?
>>
>>28195692
No
>>
>>28195692
You want a stiff sway bar in the back and a soft one in the front or none at all so the front corner lifts into the turn for oversteer while the rear stays planted. At low speed it will high G cut into turns and at speed it will evenly slide at the rear when you pull high G. Makes for consistency or predictable behavior and lets you tailor traction with tire compound and weight distribution. It's is the opposite of what you want to do with an independent rear suspension.

I personally would do a low travel stiff rear suspension and a high spring rate high rebound front with no sway bar and 3x the rear travel with a solid rear axel or high torque v8 vehicle.

It always works you just have to learn to drive it, so no twitching at high speed and no excessive acceleration under G force.
>>
>>28195692
no, it's the other way around
stiffer sway bar (or in this case, the existence of one) gives you less grip on that axle

if car is oversteering
>smaller rear sway bar
or
>bigger front sway bar

if car is understeering
>smaller front sway bar
or
>bigger rear sway bar

or a combination of both, however this is usually not entirely necessary, and this is why sway bar kits are often a scam if you're truly just trying to balance the car handling, sway bar kits will often just stiffen everything up to give that race car feel bro, you can probably balance it by just changing one
>>
>>28195982
So now I'm kinda confused. Sway bars are optional, right? So the only two mods I really have to do are stiffer shock absorbers/springs and Watt's linkage?
>>28195952
It ain't a v8, just an old car. There's info on what rally teams did, but nothing about track teams, sadly
>>
>>28195478
Nobody gives a shit about your "Touring Class" that explicitly banned vehicles that would blow their fucking doors off.
You're like the Special Olympics of the racing world.

>>28197652
>heh... Group A touring car racing? That's not real racing....
>Now the American Iron amateur series.... THAT'S real racing!
lmao

kek, I knew you were a driverlet all along.

>Could I use just any harder shock absorber instead of coilovers? Trynna keep it cheap
best you can do is get some koni yellows and weld up your own perches for the springs. whole shebang should be less than 2k which is very cheap for such a good setup. You could make the torque arm and panhard bar/watts aswell but they're already pretty cheap. tigs run around $1k for a full rig. I can't understate how much better coilovers are over leafs in this application.
