fun fact: PT Cruiser shift knobs will fit any Charger or Challenger with the 2015+ ZF8 t-bar shifter.
the PTGT has a unique chrome one that matches the silver finish on the LD/LA cars' interior trim. You can find them for free at nearly any junkyard.

I'll never understand why no one else made a Hellcat fighter. The Hellcat and to lesser extent the Demon have been singlehandedly carrying the dodge brand for almost 10 years. Ford and Chevy always aimed at the track focused audience with the GT350, GT500, ZL1, Z06, ZR1, and they were flashes in the pan with no staying power. The C7 ZR1 and C8 Z06 are very very very popular and desirable exclusively among a miniscule little bubble. The rest, no one cares. I don't think many people even know the the ZL1 was still in production until last year. Americans like cheap power. No one gives a shit about the nurburgring. Whipple has probably sold more supercharger kits for the Mustang than Ford sold all Shelby cars in the last 10 years combined. Imagine how many factory boosted Mustangs Ford could have sold if they offered it.

if you stand next to one irl you realize they're actually really low to the ground and they don't look so massive. next to nu-economy cars and suvs it's actually quite short, albeit needlessly long.
it's got some deceptively "fat" styling like the viper that makes it look and feel larger than it really is, i think this is why the stock wheel sizes went up from 17-18 to 19-20, it corrects the proportions a bit.

If you can't get a supercharger then you should scrap the idea of a V6 Challenger all together. They're auto only and the shit head design means you can't use long tube headers to maximize the scavenging effect so NA gains are limited. You'd be much better off with an 5.7L R/T 6spd.

driving my v6 was like that for a while, the hull shape makes it hard to see the ground directly around you so it feels wider than the wheelbase actually is. i got used to it after i noticed the base model hood is styled in such a way that you can ensure perfect alignment in your lane as long as the left side lines on the road are being "inhaled" into the driver's side scoop.

Mopar hid all the Pentastar performance bits in other cars because the V6 Chally sits in some emissions loophole where it can have the "least clean" Pentastar like a truck or jeep instead of the EGR-equipped minivan/suv one.
so when other cars got updates the Challenger didn't, on purpose, so you can build it to go faster using OEM parts.

>Sharing with Mercedes and the myth of the “old E Class”
>At the time, and probably still, a lot of people think is that we were just given the old E-class stuff, and that’s not true at all. They were doing the new E-class, code named the 211, and they launched that one year before we launched the LX. They would invite us and we’d go over and we’d go on their two-day road trips around the neighborhood, you know, in the Autobahn in Germany and Austria development trips, with the new E-class. We’d participate in that and compare notes, because we basically modeled our suspension after that new 211 with a couple of things that we did differently.

>The idea that we were just kind of given the old stuff, and that here you go, just take the old E-class and put your Dodge or Chrysler skin on it, that wasn’t it at all.

>Greatest Muscle Car Ever
>20+ year old Mercedes chassis
>german transmission
So the greatest muscle car ever is a frankenstein of Mercedes W211/W220 parts? I always knew they were muscle cars. Transmissions, rear gears, rear subframe, throttle bodies and likely more are all direct swaps into an E55 for instance. Older LX cars even used MB switchgear all the way down to the turn signal stalks, too.
None of this is implied to be a bad thing at all either.

>>
>>28197914
none of those parts are actually plug and play
chrysler uses completely different plugs and switchgear
the geometry of suspension parts is different, notably the dodge suspension has a wider track width and an anti-roll bar on the rear the mercedes implementation does not have. like yes, technically you can put a mercedes lower control arm on a dodge charger but it won't drive straight afterwards.

the front suspension of the LX actually comes from the Stratus (JA), which itself was based on the S-Class suspension design, but heavily modified for FWD.

>>28197872
none of this is correct. there are no actual daimler parts in any dodge.
not even the turn signal stalks are mercedes parts. however they did share suppliers so the dodge parts do look the same, but are not actually compatible

the original challenger was a "small" sports car of the time, the new one fills a grand tourer niche more like the original 2-door charger. it didn't get fat, it grew more muscle.
and really it's not much of a difference, og challys were not exactly light cars either.

well, yeah, that's kinda what i mean too. with that "fat" comes interior space, chassis stiffness and a smoother ride.

>they've added a vinyl sticker to the bottom half of the body to make it look as sleek as the original
that is actually just factory plastic body cladding, which hides the pinch welds and fender bolts and protects the bottom side of the car from rocks and such on a stock challenger. it's got some weird lip bolted to it, however.
i agree it has some silly proportions but i like that, it's like a hot wheels rendition of the original car rather than a copy. it still has the late jet-age turbine car design cues. it still feels like an imposing american slab perfect to drive around stoned listening to lynyrd skynyrd, but through the magic of friendly corporate espionage it's also a highly competent german-inspired touring car that eats up road like nobody's business. it has earned the beer gut.

the daytona bodykit however is stupid, the nose is all wrong, i guess they didn't want to make it too long or mold that part too big.

I'm sorry but any nu muscle just can't be the greatest muscle car ever. They're just not as awesome as something like '70 Charger with 440 and pistol grip.

67 Thunderchicken. Stock with the 390 FE. Modified it with Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4 EFI System with some other modifications, had the car dynoed at 475 horses. May not be the biggest baddest muscle car there is, but it's plenty enough for me to have fun with.

Surface rust. I already spoke to my mechanic. Luckily looks worse than it is. That's the next next project on the car.
