So i was practicing doing donuts in an empty parking lot earlier today. Turning to the left I had no problems, but when I started circling really hard to the right my engine (1.8L VVT) lost oil preasure for a second, and I could hear some really bad engine ticking. after I heard it and straightened out the oil preasure went up and the ticking went away.So how fucked am I?
>>28199808That’s all the oil sloshing away from your oil pickup. I would fix this by not doing that anymore. If you insist on doing that check your oil pickup and make sure it’s not fallen off or something. Maybe there’s a different oil pan you can get with more of a sump or something.
>>28199817Start by checking the oil and making sure it is topped off.
>>28199808Those things don't have a baffled pan?
>>28199808>turn too hard>assplode the engineYeah I can't into jay dee em
You have low oil. The oil pressure gauge on the NB Miata is a dummy gauge, it only shows 6+psi, if it went down that means you had less than 6 and more likely 0. Oil sloshed away from pickup tube.
Today anon learnt about the benefits of a dry sump engine
see how much oil you can go overfull before you get crank slap
>>28199808pretty fucked, you gotta do some crazy shit to lose oil pressure on a Miata. You probably have no oil and are just dogging the car or like most wrenchlets.
>>28199821can also overfill your engine with oil as cheap insurance against starvation, most engines can take about 1 us qt/1L without issues like the crank frothing the oil up. some can even go 2 qts.depending on your engine it may also make oil changes easier, just dump a whole bottle in and done
