TFW the biggest challenge to wrenching is actually when you dont have a garage/drive in so you have nowhere you can leave your car in case something goes wrong the time for the new part to arrive.

>need to work on my car to do some pretty essential stuff
>have to get under the car to do some of this shit
>mfw the retards who designed my house designed my garage to be large enough to fit a car but not large enough to open the door fully
>mfw i can't jack the car up from any angle because there's not enough room for the jack in the garage
>mfw the driveway is on a sharp slope
>mfw so is the street plus it's narrow and there's cars driving through every 5 minutes
what the fuck do i DO?
living in this terrible house with a garage designed by utter idiots still living in plato's cave with no sense of proportion has detracted from my experience in enjoying cars and has only made me angrier the more i think about wrenching underneath my car

If there is like a less busy street close by, do your wrenching there. This is what I do at the moment, but its a pain in the ass having to haul all the needed tools to your car and back.

Ofcourse you always forget something so you have to put all your tools in your car (including the fucking wheel if you removed it), lock it, go get what you forgot, come back.

I have to carbon clean my car, Ive watched the videos, it seems easy. But I need to disconnect the battery. But what if I somehow get stuck after this step and cant put my battery back, my car is left opened.

I know something will go wrong, it has all the last times I tried to wrench. There is always rust and dirth and for whatever reason a nut isnt coming off or whatever. Things also break etc.

What do anons? Give my 2 weeks salary equivalent to a "pro" to do it?

that's a pretty decent bit of advice anon but unfortunately there isn't any chance of that for me
where i live every street is on a big hill, loads of cars are parked there and the streets are narrow so that's definitely not happening
it's so fucked up where i live
my neighbour who lives at the end of the street has a driveway so steep that it's taller than the height of his two storey house
he drives through the street at high speed in his van to get up the driveway and still gets wheelspin near the top

i know that feel with locking up your tools in the car to go and get the rest of the stuff, it's so bloody frustrating and time consuming; it just eats away so much time in the day

just pay a shop honestly if you dont have the compressor, tools, media. have them do the plugs and air filter too.

should be no more than $800, even something like a 15-21 wrx is like $500 to do at a subaru specialist

i'm so tired of it

How about renting a garage for up to one month? Do it during the month you know you have some wrenching to be done

>mfw i can't jack the car up from any angle because there's not enough room for the jack in the garage
I jack my car up by the crossmember and diff and the jack handle is still completely under the car, sounds like a skill issue

Lads, I changed my oil by myself for the first time yesterday. To whichever neanderthal tightened the oil filter the last time I paid someone to do it: fuck you
>>
>>28200388
oil filters get tighter over time
just get the proper tool to remove it
>>
>>28200803
Yeah a screwdriver that you drive through the oil filter

You guys really have nothing to contribute to this thread? You are leaving us out in the cold (literally) like a bunch of homeless wrenchlettes?
>>
i live in a condo and my association doesn't allow you to work on a car in the parking lot. what i do is to offer free car help to a friend who has a garage and he lets me wrench there whenever i want
>>
i jack off in the front yard
>>
Theres no stupid questions thread but this is off topic enough so what do I do with my old donut spare tire? It's been flat since I got the car and I'm replacing it with a full-size spare. Will throwing away the old donut diminish the value of my shitbox at all?
