/o/bd2 threat!What scan tools do you guys use, and how is it? I have, vcds (cracked), odis (cracked), bmw ista (cracked), torque for Android, and this nexpeak tablet.Its good to check for codes etc but for changing settings or to find faults i prefer the "oem" software.

Works on e90s and 2020+ GM. in fact, it has worked on everything I ever used it on.It's $30 and in every store. 99 percent of the time I don't even need it because what's wrong doesn't have it's own code.Scan tools are basically for cam sensors or o2 sensors, and at best crank position sensors.

Have a Launch brand scanner. So far it has worked on everything i have hooked up to it and will graph data and show multiple things on the same graph. Been handy a time or two. I don't do a ton of work on newer stuff so I guarantee I'm not using it to it's full potential. Also has a bunch of free updates you can download for each car company and extra programs you can purchase and download if/when you need it.

Never had an OBD2 reader or for that matter an OBD2 car. When you say you have a cracked vcds for example, what does that mean? Some kind of dedicated hardware imitating vcds or a program/app for a pc or android?

I have a chinese clone of the dealership scan tool with a cracked version of the companion software running on a laptop. It's quite nice for troubleshooting electrics as it allows me to toggle individual actuators inside the car and read various sensor data.The first thing I used it for when I bought it was enabling the trip computer.
Love my OBD11 scanner. Gave my car cool shit like remote-fob-controlled windows while parked and fixed a washer fluid leak by disabling the headlight washers.

What's a good scanner that gets rid of the e90 faulty seatbelt/airbag warning light?
>>28208859ISTA does damn near everything on these cars and the Standard Tools kit (INPA, NCS, WinKFP, Tool32 et al) does the rest. All you need is a working laptop and the cable to connect to the car, iirc the E90 is old enough that you can get away with a 30 dollar DCAN cable.
Cracked copy of Ford IDS the dealership level software along with a chink VCM clone that fools the Ferd into believing its a legit Ford OEM device. But its rare I need to break that out as Forscan can do almost everything. There's only like two really uncommon things I ever needed to do that only IDS could which was some weird force-run state to figure out a specific intermittent sensor issue I was having and why I bought it. Forscan couldn't do it.One of the only advantages of Ferd is their software seems to be the most easily cracked out of all the major manufacturers.

I only have their scanner because it just werks and makes me more money making diagnostics faster and easier than I pay for it, and their split top tool cart because my coworker has an older one, and it's legitimately a "buy it for life" well built tier cart that will last forever, and it's one of the few things they price competitively. Everything else I get from brands like Icon, Gearwrench, or Tekton and they serve me well for far less.

How do you get into a GMT800 ECU to program/tune it? I'm thinking about switching to electric rad fans and need to set it up in the ECU. It seems like most people use HP tuners and their interface. Is there any way to do it with my BT OBD2 scanner?
