What pointless purchase are you looking at, anon?
>>
I need a place with a garage before I can consider buying anything other than a DD
>>
Something old without computers.
Opel GT, '56 F100, 240/260Z, '65 Continental, 1970 Barracuda, Honda N600, Trans-Am, Ranchero, hell even a 70's pickup would be fun.

I say old without computers because I think those have mostly exceeded the hype train of "old car" pricing (other than super popular immaculate examples and resto-mods) and depending on your region, pickup trucks are massivly overpriced in the south, but all the north trucks have rusted away. I'd love an R34, Type 65, TVR, or a coyote F150.

They're all worse than modern cars in just about every metric; the old stuff with carburetors will be down on power, loud, smelly, and most parts will be "universal fit" for any updates, upgrades, and repairs. The more modern stuff just costs insane money and still will be expensive to make power, parts are extra expensive because everyone loves these cars, and they'd be constant magnets for unwanted attention.
>>
I still live with my parents yet I want to have a C4 or C5 despite the fact we already have 3 cars
>>
>>28202214
You can rent garage space somewhere and just keep your shit there, if you're working on it. I did two seconds of googling and in my city I could rent an entire warehouse space for $140/mo, enough for eight vehicles.
>>
>>28202248
>I still live with my parents
>we already have 3 cars
Are you sure your parents don't have 3 cars and you have nothing?
>>
>>28202250
That sounds like a huge pain in the ass. I don't want to have to drive to my car to wrench, I want a fridge full of beer nearby and my own toilet to shit on
>>
>>28202301
So park a camper in one of the 8 spots.
>>
>>28202198
>>expensive
For what it is, probably. $12-15k for a decent manual turbo car these days. Much cheaper than the alternatives. The NA ones are laughably cheap.
>>rare
These were the most popular of the import sport cars at the time. Nissan sold way more Zs than the competition.
>>heavy
Relative. How much do you think it weighs? ~3250 lbs after some weight reduction.
>>hard to find parts for
ConceptZ, Z1, SpecialtyZ got you covered. Tons of OEM parts still available new. For anything else, ebay or fb marketplace. Rare parts can be ordered from Japan still. Many NA parts are interchangeable with the TT.
>>not even that fast
Fast enough.
>I still want it.
Good.

A fucked up one of these to pull the drivetrain out of and stuff in a Twingo. Would be monumentally stupid because when it's all said and done it'd probably cost more than just buying an RS, especially with all the paperwork and re-inspection crap involved with actually getting it registered with the new engine.
>>
>>28203307
The Twing/o/ meme has taken over your brain. What you really want is a 9000rpm Prius engine in an Echo.

https://youtu.be/mNAPapKgC0c
>>
>>28203322
I already have the Twingo. Great little car, but it'd be more fun with a bit more power.
>>
>>28203333
>THIS NIGGA OWN A TWINGO
Nice quads, also
Its too late, you're far too gone. You bought into the meme literally by buying one. Premise still stands, get Prius engine, ITB it, make 9000 RPM in your Twingo. Surely it would pass whatever-country-you-live-in's inspection and emissions.
>>

Manual 550i.
Driving around in a 6 speed German barge with a V8 is so badass.
>>
>>28203350
Found that guy's thread, looks like a riot. Unfortunately dropping something like that in a Twingo would be quite a bit more work than just yanking a K4M+JB3 combo out of a Scénic, which only needs an engine mount fabricated, a bit of clearancing on the cabin intake, swapping over a few connectors/extending some wires, and some coolant pipe fuckery to get running.
That's the problem. It's almost too achievable.

E30 325i so I can slap a huge turbo on it

Go to work, australian scum. Nobody likes you when you announce all the cool fucking cars you guys have for basically dirt cheap while you're putting around in some 4cylinder flat bed truck.

i do have a cool car suck my cock

I'm looking at a Porsche taycan. They've depreciated so much I buy a $150k taycan for $60-70k and it's still built like a car and handles like a Porsche and has actual door handles and a mechanical key to open the driver door, unlike the other electro-slop.

>Shitty autopilot.
Good.
>250miles of range
Don't need more than that, it's gonna be a daily for me and the wife.
>Outdated software.
Good.

I already have a Ford super duty and a jeep Rubicon that's on 37s with a LS swap and 1 ton axles that I do rock crawling in. So I figured a small sporty car would be nice. Wife hates driving the jeep when I take the truck.

btw compare its interior to a new Poorshe of the same year

fucking Poorsche interior looks like a fucking Lada from 1952

That Z back in 1989 was futuristic AF

Poorsche fags will tell they don't need a good interior and the look of a used cargo box is superior because muh sportcar must be simple

Poor fucking bastards

WTF is dynamic capability?
>>
>>28204443
>WTF is dynamic capability?
Probably means objective handling stats, talking about how it's built for comfort.
>>
>>28204458
Sounds like marketing wank for "its too comfortable and isn't sporty on a track as a luxobarge".
>>
>>28203971
I bought a 2007 4.0 v6 with a manual transmission last year and it's a dream. I love driving it.
>>
>>28203971
Having driven a 1st gen Mustang, owned foxbodies and SN95s, and driven multiple S197s I have to say this is an utterly ridiculous statement. The S197 feels 1000x more solid than a first gen. Hell, even the SN95 feels tight/solid compared to one.
>>28204721
Does yours have the pony package?

>lost my 2009 v6 rustang last month
>was on its last legs, needed it to last a few months more to get an undercoating on my "new" camry

The sound system, the comfy seat and steering wheel positions. It's all these little things you can forget about.
>>
I'm looking at getting my fucking Challenger fixed
>work in rural part of country with no road access
>company HQ is in a city, let's remote employees park cars in company lot
>get into townNew Year's Day after a huge freeze-melt-refreeze period, car covered in ice
>driver's side door won't open, can still hear the doors unlocking though
>assume it's frozen shut
>try to piss on the lock/door to defrost, doesn't work
>have to hike to gas station for hot water cups
>they don't work
>try to break the ice by bashing the door
>bend the front fender in
>turns out the key fob the dealership gave me wasn't working
>have to sit in Walmart parking lot trying to bend the fender out enough that the door doesn't keep fucking it
>hideous dents and bends, paint chipped, door starting to rust
Fuck. At least I found some front fenders for less than $200
>>
>>28203599
That’s why it’s a pointless purchase. Buy it enjoy and then sell it.
>>
>>28203296
>$12-15k for a decent manual turbo car these days.
I'd like to know what auction sites or dealer sites you're looking at then because I cannot find a manual turbo for under $40k. They have to be straight up banged to shit salvage titles with 200,000km on it, or from Japan. And I was actually going to get one from Japan because they are far cheaper than NA, around $12,000 to $24,000.

I'm okay with fixing one up though.
>>
>>28203444
There isn't really a "why". I love them and that's enough. People routinely swap the engines out of these Zs and put something lighter in, but I'm a purist and I like them how they are.
>>
>>28202250
if they find out youre wrenching youll be out on your ass immediately since thats a massive insurance liability. And they will since everyone has cameras everywhere now

>I could rent an entire warehouse space for $140/mo, enough for eight vehicles.
Where the fuck are you?
>>
>>28207802
Don't fuckin bother. He'll either say some third world garbage dump where nobody can even afford 8 vehicles worth putting into a garage space, or he'll lie and make some shit up like Kansas where you know, nobody with a warehouse is renting it out for $140/month.
>>

Here's a peek at my wanted list:

Chevy Avalanche
Panther either a P71 or a late model Continental.
C5 or C6 vette
Mercedes 300SD
Bugeye Subie hatch
Focus SVT or import a first gen RS "soon"
Old ass F150 Single cab short bed 2wd fleet spec I6 manual
Diesel Econoline

I have a 2022 Corolla, 1990 300CE, and 1994 E320 wagon

What would you get first?

>>
>>28207815

honestly, a bugeye hatch and 10k will always be nice. id pick the focus svt but why no fiesta st on that list? it seems to fit in nicely there.
>>
>>28209661
But does it have the pony package? With the GT wheels and rear sway bar.
>>
>>28211530
no.

>>28202198

>>
>>28211470
Focus SVT would do everything I'd want out of a Fiesta ST and look better. The Fiesta would be sorta redundant. I wouldn't mind one but I prefer the looks of 3 door hatches over 5 and we didn't get a 3 door Fiesta in the US, plus I like New Edge an immeasurable amount more than Kinetic.
