>fun shithatch that comes in a 5-speed>tons of low km options listed on japanese sites for literal pennies>importable up to 2010MY (15-year rule)>meanwhile even the shittiest honda fits (in southern ontario) are incredibly overpriced and likely rusted out by saltthere has to be a catch. tell me why i shouldn't import one of these bad boys right now
Western enthusiasts continue to sleep on the Swift. They're lightweight, cheap to run, and have quite good dynamics.I've been considering a Sport as a grocery getter myself, as my Civic is getting a bit too old.
They're everywhere in my country and are pretty shit, they're pretty much a girls first car here and don't have much appeal. The concept of people being desperate enough to import one sounds insane to me.
>>28203486How do I go to the bank if right side drive
>>28203508non-swift is a basic box that's a girls first car, the swift sport is very fun
>>28203486Why would you import one with the steering wheel on the wrong side from Japan when you could import one with the steering wheel on the correct side from Europe? You can find a nice one in Hungary, where they were made, for less than $5k Canadian Tire Money.
>>28203873because i'll be traveling to japan later this year, and most importers here are specialized in JDM cars. i'm sure i can ask to see if they can swipe one straight from europe
>>28203498Euros know about them>>28203873Rust
>>28203486going through all the trouble of importing a car only to have it be a right hand drive swift sounds awful.
>>28204977There's worse carsI want a 206 RC or Clio RS if they're not $10k by the time they're legal
>>28204982206 RC is indeed an example of a worse car, yes.i drive a swift sport (gen 2 so 6 speed) and it's pretty good, but I wouldn't want to import one, let alone drive a right hand drive one.RHD is kinda cool when it's a rare sports car, not on a grocery getter.
>>28203486ugly, slow and gay

>>28204987https://www.bluestarmotors.com/showroom/7241/2004_Peugeot_206_RCHow bad can a 180hp/2400lb French Hatch be to drive? It can't be that unreliable. I love the interior in them too. This dealer in Vancouver Canada sold one for $25k. This or a Saxo/106 would be nice.
>>28204996i wouldn't be caught dead in a 206, but that might also be because i see them driven by retarded boy racers all the time. also they look absolutely horrible when the 205 was a great design, which is a shame.106 is pretty cool, the carburated engines were nice, even if they're slow.
>>28204987Have you driven a ZC33S? If so, what did you think?
>>28203486the hungarian trannies have bad synchros
>>28205002no i specifically wanted a naturally aspirated car so i only looked at the 32. the 33 is lighter though, and I know people use them on track too (rent4ring used them for a while to replace their ZC32, they now use automatic Minis though).
>>28203873Not OP, but the benefit of the JDM model is that it comes with 5 doors/5 seats. The EU model only comes with 3 doors/4 seats. Though someone might prefer that. For me this was a deal breaker.
>>28203486swifts probably my favorite hot hatch would love to make one into a baby rally car
I've had one for two years. Amazing little car. Been reliable so far, fun as fuck to throw around, amazing shifter (You can even swap in a 6-speed from a ZC32 and drop like 900rpm at 120km/h).It also oversteers surprisingly much for an FWD, i've been skidding it around in snow a whole lot this winter. With that said, it doesn't quite have the same magic as the old Ignis Sport did, even if its a much better car
>>28205252No such thing as "hungarian trannies"
>>2820574133s are significantly easier to find here. I'm not too concerned about price, but I was hoping the fun factor isn't worse than the 32s.
>>28204999That's nice and all but the 206 is literally the best-selling Peugeot car ever, it's literally the ps2 of cars.Numbers don't lie, the car was a massive success and still to this day adored and driven by many.
>>28203486>there has to be a catchnopesome of the best fun you can have
>>28203486>there has to be a catchThere is: The first gen Swift Sport requires 98 ron fuel.
>>28208410I forgot the other problem: Using a plastic scraper to remove frost from the windscreen will scratch the shit out of it. You must use deicer and nothing else, the windscreen is not heated either.
>>28208410>requires 98 ron fuelwants but it will run fine on lower. I didn't start buying the 98 equivalent(93) until recently. it ran fine on 90
My 2007 Suzuki Swift 1.3 GL is my first and only car.Suzi I call her. Unlike the Sport, no air con or alloys.Had her since 2015 or so, lovely car to drive. Drove her on a 1500 mile trip up and around the Scottish Highlands by myself (with the rear seats folded down for my hiking gear and mountain bike) and absolute loved it.Main problem with them is the gearbox, hers had to be reassembled once a few years back, only for 5th gear to go last year. Which wasn't too bad around the city, still got like 35mpg in 4th gear.Apparently the reason 5th goes is because it's actually originally a 4-speed gearbox, and the 5th gear is basically shoved on the end with its own casing.Unfortunately she failed her MOT a month or so ago, and probably isn't worth the repairs she needs to her rear axle and stuff (also I backed her into a metal CCTV pole), never mind the fact she only has 4 forward gears lel.I want to buy something a bit bigger now I'm 32 but almost feel like just getting another.
>>28209580Take the sport-pill, anon. You won't regret it. It's not as fun as a miata, but damn near it, in a much more practical shell
>>28209580>I want to buy something a bit bigger now I'm 32 but almost feel like just getting another.get a ZC32S sport
>>28203486they're stupid reliable too.had a colleage once, also drove a 1st gen Swift. dude was a total idiot who never takes proper care of his car. even something as simple as checking the engine oil. Apparently, dude was running on NO oil at all. Not a single drop, engine cooking dry. Know why he never noticed? Because the thing never stopped driving.>picrel swift
>>28209580RIP Suzi
>>28204982Hot 206s sold like shit so they're rare, but they're still somewhat slept on because everyone wants a 205, 106 or 306 instead. Clio 172s and 182s are already going for upwards of 5k where I live, while I distinctly remember you could get them for ~3k at one point. Same with Twingo RSs, they're 4k+ now, but GTs are still available below 3k here and there.
>>28212265>>28211718 (OP|YOU) Oh anon.. uhm.. Look, i know our lives are miles apart and i cant really "relate". But i understand. I do. Your mother abandoned you when you where just a babyboy. Your dad soon got a boyfriend, they neglected you. Left you home in shitty diapers while they where out the entire night. To get "all the chocolate bananas", they said. To make up for all that missed attention you've since dedicated your entire life to getting all of it, good or bad. You want to be the rebel, the edgy dude, the interesting quirky guy, the cool guy who doesn't care, the misunderstood artist, the individualist, etc. I get it, your motivations atleast. But at some point we need to face some facts.. One of those facts is that life is indeed tough, unfair and harsh and we cant fight that. Rather, we need to accept that and navigate through it. And that simply means that, sometimes, generally, we just cant be that special snowflake. We must go with the stream, blend with the crowd. Because how people look at you DOES matter. What they think of you DOES matter. Your public image largely dictates your credibility. You could be the best lawyer in town. But if you insist on wearing a clown suit to court, people would rather get sentenced to life in prison than to be represented by you. Exact same deal with that car. You might think it makes you "special" or "interesting", but i reality it just makes you questionable, untrustworthy, and creepy. >b-b-but its so practical.. No anon. No. This just isn't it. This is not the way you want to be going. Please, just trust us on this. We care about you.
>>28212342Go finance an F150 like everyone else already
>>28212342I can afford more than one car. FF is perfectly fine for a daily.
