My bike is a 150 I drove it all round my country. What should I upgrade to? Keep in mind I'm an absolute no self control demon and break every traffic law and speed everywhere (although my top speed is like 125km lol). I brought a 150 to not wrap myself around a tree but now I think I've got the self control for more power I'm thinking like a 300cc bike? I've been riding 5 or 6 months haven't crashed dropped it plenty of times and broken like 4 mirrors mostly learning how to wheelie lol but no proper crash.

Let's be honest the klr 650 is a good bike. Im tired of complaints, the weight isn't that bad.

If you want an adventure bike you get a klr 650 with some good nobby tires.

Dirt bikes are small hobbyist toys meant to be hauled with a trailer by boomers and have no real use. This isn't mad max. You aren't going to be jumping dune hills and even if you could and were skilled enough to do so you really want broken bones and a medical emergency 50+ miles from a hospital?

If you're thinking of dr650 might as well just get a klr for stability on the highway. You're already leaning into adventure territory weight. Might as well go all in with a klr. There's not much the klr can't handle. If other bikes can handle it but in limited scenarios its probably not worth attempting in the first place.

There's a 08 GS500 on FBM for only 2k. My first bike was a 98 GS500 and I loved it; but recently it got destroyed in a crash (woman turned into me without paying attention, etc). I want a new bike badly but I also want something "new" and stronger than a 500; but this 08 is in near perfect condition and at a cheap price too which I can afford outright.

What do you think I should do?
>>
I'm about to get $300 in gift cards for riding gear, as thanks for participating in a scientific study.
I'm trying to think of what to buy with it. I hate getting geared up and down for my commute, so maybe something to make that easier?
I'm thinking either some armoured chinos or some protective pants that go over the top of my work pants, any recommendations for something like that?
>>
>>28204043
See of you can find an old ninja 250 or 300. 40hp, redline 12k, top out about 170kph.
Or if you want something more new get a R3.
>>
>>28204092
Do you know what baek would you like better than GS? Can you buy it now? No? Then go for that GS asap
>>
>>28204098
I don't know what bike I'd like more but have nearly zero experience on anything else. Rode a TU250x at my MSF course and my girlfriend just recently got an old Vulcan because she wants to ride too; which I've rode a few times but nothing seriously. Out of the 3 I vastly prefer the riding style/etc of my GS500.

What would you all say is the "upgrade" to the GS500? Doesn't have to be a Suzuki brand but my options for buying are limited since a lot of the sellers on FBM aren't selling things I'm interested in or they're asking 3k for a used up piece of shit lol
>>
>>28204095
Really good riding bag? New jacket? New helmet? Riding boots? Other small stuff like a phone mount, better gloves, some small "mods" for your bike?
>>
>>28204026
What a horrible fucking bike
>>
>>28204104
The most important question is: what's your budget?
If you had unlimited amounts of money you could get a brand-new GSX-8S or Hornet 750. But if that's too much and you definitely want a naked bike, have a look around for 650s. Things like the SV650/Gladius, ER-6N/Z650, CB650F (unlikely to find one at a good price) and the FZ-07/MT-07. Or you could try a chinabike. You might be able to get a decent price on a 650NK, and they're better than people give them credit for.

I have to install an adjustable windscreen on a dual sport today. It's got adjustment for both height off the front fairing, but also angle.

Does anyone have either experince, text, or a video that goes over how much empty space to leave at the bottom of the windscreen along with the angle to use in order to get the cleanest air at head level? Most youtube videos I've seen just winged it, but a good starting point would be helpful.

Thailand is one of the most dangerous places to ride/drive in the world. That said, I think the Thais drive fairly politely, they just break a lot of rules and the roads are shit. But I’ve done 12,000 km on this bike alone and have had maybe 3 close calls while at speed. I’ve been rear ended at very low speed 11 times in traffic lmao. The anime is pretty mid. The humor is lifted directly from the manga, but it works much better in panel form than animated. I'd say skip it and read the manga. Super Cub was the better anime if you want to stream moto slice of life.

Are there any good remote control mini-bikes you can toy around with? Like something that actually leans and all that? Thinking of buying one as a gift
>>
Genuinely considering buying this thing for zipping around the city. ABS on the front wheel, can do 95km/h, about 90km range, 11kw, ABS on the front wheel only and I can take the batteries out for charging and most importantly the engine doesn't suffer when I do a 1.5km trip like an ICE engine does.
Should help make my ICE bike live longer because it will no longer do short distances on a cold engine and make things cheaper for me to run because gas is 'spensive these days.
Are there any better alternatives i'm missing?
I looked at SuperSocos but CBS is fucking stupid.
I don't want an ICE bike for this because i'll just ruin it with short trips, which is going to put unreasonable wear on the engine.

A used 7.2 Zero will save you a couple grand and get you more power and range (especially as the 11kW restricted CE-02 has less range for some reason).

I feel like I'm a retard for trying to buy a used bike online. And any time I find something I like, ask for a test ride or haggle a lower price (because their used up POS is obviously not worth the price), they don't even answer or say some shit like "price firm".

What am I supposed to do? Honestly? I'm not going to waste my hard earned money on some jank shit that might break or die on me as soon as I leave their place

okay bros I need some advice. I'm riding in the slush, ice, sand and SALT, and the bottom of my bike under the stock bash plate was already peeling and rusted when I got it. My idea was getting under there with a wire brush, knocking off loose bits of rust and chipping paint and putting on some layers of either wd40 or some grease until I can figure a permanent solution or until the roads are back to normal. Good idea? better ideas? I don't know what I'm doing just spitballing, don't want it to corrode even worse.

Not a meme its maintenance. Makes a big difference if cables are binding and sticky.
>>
>>28205974
Rinse it with water every day you ride. If you chip paint and brush it, you're just exposing more of the metal to the hostile elements and only a permanent coating is going to make it worthwhile. Wd40 will not stick around, and doesn't have the film strength to protect against salt anyway

Do you guys have any nice trips planned for the year? I’m trying to figure out what to do myself. Either north from Washington into canadia or around Europe. But Europe would likely be difficult to pull off
>>
>>28206277
I want to make the touratech rally this year because it just seems like a fun time and it's nearby. I missed the desert 100 last year because my van broke down, so this year I'll try to make it again. A WA BDR trip would be dope, but so far I've had little luck with planning one because I don't know anyone else that wants to go. I could go by myself, but it's more fun with others since it's otherwise not a challenging ride. The fun is in the trip
>>

How are your pictures on the phone so crispy?
>>
>>28205825
Facebook has worked twice for me

Granted the second bike I bought was a bit meh it had old tires old break pads and either he or the mechanic had over tightened the oil tap, which was fucking annoying. But he did warn me about all that ahead of time. So I’d go with Facebook, people seem less dubious when it’s their name attached

Pixel has some basic editing features that let you adjust brightness and contrast a bit. Most of the time it doesn't take much adjustment to get the high highs and low lows. The camera itself is actually quite good too

really awesome, wouldn't trade it for any other. But like I hint at in what I said, the sound is quite muted. homologated exhausts for it (euro5 compliant) are a rare, underwhelming and expensive thing so far
>>
>>28206348
Where do I live? Do your highway Jannies really care that much? I realize Texas is much different from some other places, but I've never had a cop question my exhaust on my bikes or cars in the 18 years I've been driving.

in europe, I've had a friend get a ticket just for having the license plate a few degrees too inclined. they are really stingy here with bikes

>>28206368
Oof. Yeah, they'd give you a hard time then. I have the plates mounted at absurd angles on my bikes, but I did it with factory brackets removed from the tail fenders so it looks like it could've been factory if you don't really know what you're looking at. I wish I had been recording the time I got pulled over and the cop asked me if my plate was bent up. I said, nah I think it kinda just mounts there like that. He stared at it for a good 5 seconds and just said "huh" then walked back to his cruiser. Kek.
>>
>>28206371
If this really is your thought process and you're not trolling, you should kys. Next you'll be bragging online about how much Thai pussy you pulled for being a basic ass white dude in SEA.

>>
>>28206407
Where are you at that doesn't have nice places to look at?

I kinda want a T7 to go with my Tracer 9. But I've never been off road, only graded gravel/dirt roads, so I should probably get a smaller duel sport.
>>
>>28206391
This.
I wouldn't even rent.
I'd buy some pos from a local of whatever flavor moped was the most common in the area.
When I left Thailand I'd literally leave it in the hotel parking lot with the keys in it.

Its a new harley, the rear is 130 wide currently.

I was looking at the Michelin Anakee but they are only in 17, the type of riding I’m doing is a couple thousand km loop with stretches of hundreds of dirt kms.

The battleax and trail wing are probably a bit agressive for this kind of stuff, and a mate doesnt rate his scorpions so will pass on those but I’ll have a look at the dunlops.

Assuming I can fit it under the guard I cant really think of anything else that might be buggered going up a couple inches, the extra height is appreciated at this point so not miffed there.

After getting a job in December i finally have cash saved up to start fixing up my Ninja 500 i bought for $600

What would be the preferred sprocket size for a commuter bike?

>>
>>28206728

>>
>>28206771
The EX500 is setup perfectly fine from factory.
I wouldn't change the gearing.
I commuted in california on one for 2 years and it does just fine on the freeway.
It has plenty of top end and I wouldn't want to lose any of the bottom end.
>>

If you're white you're making yourself a target.
Getting mugged is the least of your worries.
The average Thai despises westerners.
You'll be fine in the tourist districts but once you get out of town and go for a nice ride through the country to "try out a different bike" you're going to feel like a lost army scout in Vietnam at the height of the Tet Offensive.

Cant stop winning, except for when it comes to finding info on scrambling a hog it seems.

Its super comfy on long cruises but the outback is a lot of frontier shit and dead empty dirt tracks so the standard config needs a bit of work for me.

Im in the process of welding up a big skid plate, and if I can get some half decent shoes under her we’ll be in business.

>>28206814
Yeah he wrote me a ticket for the plate, noted that it was intentionally mounted at an angle so that the toll cameras can't get it. Which is absolute conjecture.
Also wrote me a ticket going 91 in a 60, when I was barely passing the other cars. I told him I try to just keep ahead of traffic a little for my own safety, but he didn't care. Told me to use lane positioning instead so cars can see me. Like, nigga are you serious?
Starting to consider the dark side of riding. I figured he would write me a ticket for the plate and warning on the speed, but nope.
Female cop pulls up next to him and starts in on some shit about seeing my bike on the toll road before, they watch the cameras apparently. I haven't ridden that bike on the toll road in a hot minute though, but it could have easily been mistaken for another bike.
>>
>>28207033
>not having a bike so cool the cop just wanted to ask about it

>Female cop pulls up next to him and starts in on some shit about seeing my bike on the toll road before, they watch the cameras apparently. I haven't ridden that bike on the toll road in a hot minute though, but it could have easily been mistaken for another bike.
This was a lie, they just say shit like that to everyone dude. "Yeah bro your friend already ratted on you about it all, so might as well tell your side to us now." "Not so fast bud, we have been following you for weeks and know it all, better just admit to it now in front of my dash cam here, judges put a lot of weight on honesty you know."
>>
>>28207086
I didn't know if she was making it up or not. I know they can watch the cameras but to what extent they do, I don't know. I didn't admit to do anything of course. Not my first traffic stop.
>>
>>28207099
They lie ten million times for each truth. It was total BS trying to get you to admit to shit.
>>

>Female cop pulls up next to him and starts in on some shit about seeing my bike on the toll road before, they watch the cameras apparently. I haven't ridden that bike on the toll road in a hot minute though, but it could have easily been mistaken for another bike.

One thing I leaned having a government job, cops and people in authority talk out their ass all the time. With most of them there is nothing you can say to convince them they're wrong. Its not even their job to be 100% right. They just have to think their doing the right thing to the best of their knowledge of the law. From what I learned is part of their training. I have found the best thing you can do is give them ID, state your name, and whatever but nothing else. Be fake nice but just don't give them anymore rope to hang you with.

One time I was pulled over and after exchanging a few words the cop and I just stared at each other for like a solid 10 seconds. He was trying to get me to dig my own grave with my own words.
>>
>>28207107
People talk out their ass all the time, regardless of job.
>>
>>28207110
No one has made it into their core ethos like cops.
>>
>>28207107
I know what to say and what not to. He got me on radar with the speed, so that's a dead end in court. Figured I'd try to talk my way out of it. It's worked before, but not this time. As for the plate, they can say whatever they want, try to accuse me. I just play dumb if I know they have nothing. "Yeah, I really don't know, it was like that when I bought it, not really sure. Guess I'll have to figure something out of you say it needs to be more visible."

I've been pulled over by the same cop before and they remembered me, so now that's a concern and I'll have to do something with the plate.
>>
>>28207116
>I've been pulled over by the same cop before and they remembered me, so now that's a concern and I'll have to do something with the plate.

You may want to take it easy in your home town.
>>
>>28207116
get a new bike and helmet and lose/gain some weight
>>
>>28207126
Not my home town but I am in this area quite frequently. Yeah. Honestly this one was my fault. I saw him on the on ramp getting on. He didn't pull out, then I sped up. I should have stayed at the limit longer and watched him but I didn't. Cops in this area usually don't care, I've passed lots of them no plate speeding and they never pull out. I was just kinda lax in my observation of the cop and assumed he wouldn't pull out after I had gone a ways. Lesson learned.
>>
>>28206983
Ya it wasn't much of a difference
Gen 2 lost a couple mph at the top for slightly more grunt down low (all on paper).
I had an "89 (1st gen) and replaced my rear a couple times but always went with the stock size.
Even riding doubles you can still take most cars off the line.
Either choice is fine but I wouldn't go beyond those 2 factory offerings (I think it's literally 1 tooth).
