apologize
Nothing to apologize for. It's a decent handling car with a disappointing drive train. Best eps rack BMW has ever used. Styling holds up well, it's comfortable once you're in, but getting in and out just sucks. Overall it's a fun novelty but not a car you'd actually want to keep. Good for a turo weekend
>>28205660Drivetrain is fine it’s the bicycle tires and boaty suspension that do it in.I’ll take one when they drop lower. No aftermarket to fix the suspension though
>>28206508>3 (three) cylinders Lmao
>>28205630The design aged well. I'll give it that.
>>28205630Put an S62 in it so the drivetrain matches the styling, and then we'll talk
>>28206508The 3cyl hybrid setup ruins the top end. The suspension is fine for street driving, not for track use, which is just as well considering the drivetrain but an inline 6 would have been the better choice both for marketing (look at this m340i, it has a supercar engine) and longevity (no battery decay)
>>28206555And the price, I should add. Imagine paying $150k (when new) for a fucking 3 cylinder. Couldn't be me.
>>28206561BMW fans are retards. They'll buy anything so long as it has the badge on it and angry looking headlights
The BMW i8 has become the new Infiniti G35/G37 in the second-hand market.
Aye mayne, check dat bmw i8 mayne
>>28206620>>28206625>>28206626They're affordable now (except maintenance) decent on gas, they genuinely drive well as a daily even if you can't fit much in them, they just weren't worth anywhere near what BMW charged for them new and they have the wrong drivetrain for their appearance
FR FR Mayne, on Gawd... the i8 is THE most exotic looking car you can get for the price. I mean back in the day with 840/850 that shit was top.of.the.line but you got a great all arounder that looked sexy af.the i8 is sexy looking and has aged well but that 3-cyl engine just relegates it to pity status.I would consider one but it's like a plymouth prowler, much more show than go... and that's just sad.
>>28205630Imagine if BMW was a motorsport enthusiast brand and actually put an updated S70 v12 into this with a 6speed.BMW would immediately no longer be bottom tier.
i wonder what kind of power increase you'd get if you put in tesla motors and a bigger turbo.
>>28207394battery will be the limiting factor, motors can always get juiced higher. Vivid racing pushed their i8 to 400 dyno power
Sorry for what? Our daddy taught us not to be ashamed of our lumps, especially since they're such good size and all.
>>28206634They’re almost all CF. They’re expensive to make. Some exec thought a green super car was a good idea and didn’t realize that car people don’t want 3 cylinders
>>28205630I'm not a BMW or high end sports car fan really, but I would an i8. It's pretty much the only modern car in that form factor that I want. It reminds me of the original NSX. It's a sports car with sexy styling that you can also daily drive. It's slower than a Camaro, but that's not the point.
>>28207767for 38k it's the only car i've looked at and thought to myself "i'd be willing to lease" even though it's not the most practical. i wish there were more upgrade options for the engine and batteries though.
>>28207721>They’re almost all CF. They’re expensive to makeSo was the 4C and that only cost as much as a Cayman
>>28206551>The design aged well.Only by virtue that modern cars are ugly.
>>28205630the only reason you'd buy one of these over a used 840i is the exotic looks
>>28209154isn't looks the only factor that matters? who the hell buys a far for functionality?
>>28206532wasnt this the first i3t hybrid?fuck that
>>28209025>I'd be willing to leaseIr's a 5 yo car, dipshit.
>>28209245there's a 2025 model, retard
>>28209234the 8 series is still a nice looking coupe, it's just as luxurious, a little bit cheaper, and you get a RWD B58/ZF8 combo instead of the hybrid 3 cyl
>>28209254idk, the front end is a little too bulky and the belt line is high up, almost tub like. not that it's a unique problem, most cars are like that, which is why i think the i8 kinda stands out as far as new/hybrid cars go.
>>28205630>apologizeFor what? That thing was a fashion accessory pretending to be a car.
>>28209154And the fact that the newest e31 is 26 years old and the parts of the dash that are still working will look like Christmas morning. The oldest i8 is still 14 yrs newer than the newest e31.I’m not saying I wouldn’t rather have an e31 (because I would) but a 4chan /o/tist is unlikely to even understand what danger they’re stepping into with an old, top of the range model BMW from a quarter century ago
>>28205660240hp/ton is plenty if anything the suspension was just too soft
>>28205630Someone pls post the fat guy trying to get in one
>>28209628>And the fact that the newest e31 is 26 years oldthey made another 8 series anon
>>28209671Yeah but it looks like a melted bar of soap and absolutely nobody thinks it looks good. T
>>28206620>>28206625>>28206626AYY LMAOO LIL BROhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5eLBe6kOio
>>28209816>it looks like a melted bar of soapit looks like cross between an S550 Mustang and a 2010s BMWcould be much worse
>>28209961Anon sort your shit out and get your eyes checked. Yeah it's a current production 8 series and it looks like a melted bar of soap (ie, distilled shit).Sure I suppose that's marginally better than the sniffer grille cars but absolutely nobody thinks of these things as anything more than lease bait. I would buy the i8 before any of these current model 8 series shitboxes.
>>28205630I find it fascinating that the black community gravitate towards the i8 solely for its lambo doors
>>28210672the butterfly doors are pretty sick but if anything it's just that it's hella cheap for what it is. for 50k a carbon fiber mid engine car with okay power and interior is a fantasy combination.
>>28210612>absolutely nobody thinks of these things as anything more than lease baitthey are lease bait but so was the i8the 840i has the same drivetrain as any 340i or x5 on the road, it will be more reliable and easier to own than an mid engine car with a one off hybrid drivetrain
>>28205630>apologizeI'm sorry that a fan of this brand has to deal with this.
>>28206620Unlike XXXTentacion, I wouldn't be caught dead in an i8.
>>28205630350z rapes this
>>28209250where
>>28205630I just saw one of these tonight and I want one.
>>28211007I'm guessing the glass doors were a terrible safety hazard.
>>28205630Imagine if that triple revved and was naturally aspirated tho
>>28205660>getting in and out just suckshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQeL28JoJ44
>>28209250BMW ended production of the i8 in June 2020.
>>28211457Classic bit
>>28205630Oh anon.. uhm.. Look, i know our lives are miles apart and i cant really "relate". But i understand. I do. Your mother abandoned you when you where just a babyboy. Your dad soon got a boyfriend, they neglected you. Left you home in shitty diapers while they where out the entire night. To get "all the chocolate bananas", they said. To make up for all that missed attention you've since dedicated your entire life to getting all of it, good or bad. You want to be the rebel, the edgy dude, the interesting quirky guy, the cool guy who doesn't care, the misunderstood artist, the individualist, etc. I get it, your motivations atleast. But at some point we need to face some facts.. One of those facts is that life is indeed tough, unfair and harsh and we cant fight that. Rather, we need to accept that and navigate through it. And that simply means that, sometimes, generally, we just cant be that special snowflake. We must go with the stream, blend with the crowd. Because how people look at you DOES matter. What they think of you DOES matter. Your public image largely dictates your credibility. You could be the best lawyer in town. But if you insist on wearing a clown suit to court, people would rather get sentenced to life in prison than to be represented by you. Exact same deal with that car. You might think it makes you "special" or "interesting", but i reality it just makes you questionable, untrustworthy, and creepy. >b-b-but its so practical.. No anon. No. This just isn't it. This is not the way you want to be going. Please, just trust us on this. We care about you.
Im sowwee ;________;
>>28209636it's the power curve. electric motors put out a lot of torque at certain speeds but it may as well be a non-m 3 series above 70mph
>>28212439>projecting this hardget therapy
>>28205630It's basically a modern DeLorean but without the hollywood cachet
>>28206561And let's not forget that you could buy a 4 door saloon for less, in the same dealership, that was faster. Genuinely what were they thinking?
