How easy is it to wrap your own car? Any tips for a beginner?

yet another poorfag seethe thread about the cybertruck

I wrapped my rear quarter panel as a first time wrapper recently. Did a lot of research
It's relatively difficult to do well and requires prepping the surface. I was able to get the wrap surfaces pretty flat, but having cleanly cut edges was extremely difficult. This isn't a big deal for most sections, but there is one part where an edge doesn't lead to a gap, it just kind of slopes down. Hard to explain. The point is that you can see I didn't cut the edge straightly, and that small section looks bad, if you look.

Prep the surface and remove any body panels or open any necessary doors/trunk as needed so stretching the vinyl is easier
Don't be a retard like I was by slashing your own tire when trimming the wrap paper. I will only make that mistake once.
Get high quality wrap
Stretch the wrap down over edges/corners and preshrink it back into place with the heat gun before trimming the excess

kek sorry to hear that anon.
What if your car has dents or cracks in the body panels? Should I buff them out or use bondo to fill them? Never really done any bodywork either

Idk bro I only did this once lol

It depends on the car and depends on the environment you work in. Something dusty and exposed to open air will lead to worse results than an air conditioned clean garage or a tent with filtered ventilation. A cybertruck will be easier than a SLK

Ok, I am planning to wrap my rx8 and am moving somewhere with a garage hence why I am planning to do it. Where is a good place to buy the vinyl from? I read that cheap vinyl will only last a couple of years and I at least want it to last 4+ yrs if possible

Not that easy and insanely time consuming. Expect to spend 40+ hours for your first time. It's cheap and looks great, but you have to put in the time.

Yes. The wrap doesn't hide damage to your car at all, if anything will make it more noticable. Bondo and sand

I've used vivvid both times I wrapped my car, looked fantastic for 2 years and then 2 okayish years after that until I decided to redo it. People like 3m too but it's usually more expensive.
>Pic rel, wrapped my RSX this summer
