How common are these things (and other Panther bodies) in the US nowadays? I hardly see them anywhere online on the US roads and they're only 13+ years old now. I remember these being fucking everywhere in any piece of US based media back in the 2000s and early 2010s.
Is this just a byproduct of 1st worldie NPC throwaway culture or was it a case of the late gen ones being shit and the ones from the 90s and early 2000s just losing the battle to rust?

For a real answer:
>Is this just a byproduct of 1st worldie NPC throwaway culture or was it a case of the late gen ones being shit and the ones from the 90s and early 2000s just losing the battle to rust?
It's more just that way less of them were sold in the later years. Town Cars and Grand Marquis were already winding down before the platform was killed and Vics were moved to fleet sales only, and fleet cars are always used and abused to a quicker death than Grandma's Grand Ma that went to church once a week.

Objectively solid and dependable platform. God save us from the plague of crossover retards and 4 cylinder turbo shit certain to be dead before 100k miles or 10 years.
>>
>>28207711
>they're only 13+ years old now
Well they did stop building them around that time.
>>
I still see them, plenty on the road but definitely much less than a few years ago

>way less of them were sold in the later years
MGM msrp: 30k, inflation adjusted 42k
WHAT
People bought slopshit for way more than that. Why wouldn't they buy a dependable comfortable car?
>>
>>28207711
>1st worldie NPC throwaway culture
Uh if they were sold to someone else, presumably another person would be driving them.
Cars aren't on the road anymore because they cost too much to repair when something breaks, so they get crushed in a junkyard.

crossovers were already taking over and an old-man sedan wasn't appealing

Hardly ever is something breaking on a car going to cost more than a brand new car/newer used car. First worlders are just way more into consumerism and keen on the idea of le old bad le new good. There's a reason why the turd world still has fucking zillions of even 80s cars still on the road and in daily use.
>>
Pic related happened, and IS happening to them. There a circle track a couple miles away from me that does this demo derby race thing once a month from April to October so there's usually at least 20 lined up at one side of the property for competitors to choose from to modify for the "race". With shit like this going on you can't draw any conclusions about how well they have aged like some here are trying to do.

Similar took out all the old square bodies, especially the two-doors, but those were expended in old-fashioned straight up demolition derbies.

Kek this was what made me even make this post in the first place. I remembered demo derbies are a thing, looked up some 2024 footage and realized they're still destroying classics from the 80s, saw a Crown Vic in there which reminded me that they still exist.
What a bunch of faggots.

growing up is when you stop being a kid smashing hot wheels together and watching monster trucks run stuff over, and start being sad about the cars that are being destroyed no matter how old or plain they are and especially for older ones, thinking about how someone could have used the glass or one-year body trim
>>
>>28207920
My point is that selling your car to acquire a new one doesn't explain why you see fewer panther bodies today... if you sold it to someone that new owner would be driving.
The only thing that explains it is if those cars are parted out or destroyed. Which will naturally happen over time with older cars. At a certain point after so many owners and miles, it makes more sense to sell a car for parts than it does to repair it. Or perhaps the cars get into big accidents.

Reminds me of Mr. "I hate waste and love recycling" (aka DankPods) destroying that perfectly usable Proton and trying to justify it by saying "it was terrible". Yeah mate, no one disagrees that they're terrible, but it was still a perfectly usable cheap car that *someone* would have been able to use to get from A to B. Congrats on being part of the problem.
>>
>>28208342
Not much aftermarket support for the panther. there is stuff but its not a mustang or a camaro or some f series truck. They will be fewer and fewer on the roads as salt and age eats them.
>>
>>28208342
Yes I get your point but here's the point I'm trying to make in simple terms
>buy a used car for say 10k
>drive it for 5 or so years
>eventually the car gets to a point in its lifetime where a lot of parts wear out and need fixing, say you get quoted for about 1.5k/2k total
Now here's where the paths diverge
>the 1st worldie would simply go "ah well this is le old and le bad and it costs too much to fix. No one's gonna buy it in this state if I put it up for sale so I'll just scrap it and get another newer used car for 10k."
>whereas the turdworlder would set aside some money, fix it and run it for another 5+ years before selling it to someone who'll repeat the process
