Tesla's killer product is self-driving software. The car is just there to run it. Betting on FSD being a disruptive technology that'll blow the fuck out of the delivery and taxi business is the only reason TSLA is valued as high as it is.

the way they design cars is fantastic; they spare absolutely no expense anywhere, very similar to 80s AMG when that company was run by engineers and not accountants, which is probably the main reason why they've been hemorrhaging money like crazy these past few years

as an example, IIRC the CEO of the company states that they fight over every millimetre of space when it comes to the packaging and he (the CEO) actually still designs some parts of the car himself
many reviewers of the air sapphire have said that it's the best sports-oriented sedan that they've ever driven - even better than the E39 M5 - and that it's one of the best cars that they've ever driven, period

I became a stonkholder when V12.2 was in beta. It was kind of crappy, but was very much a proof of the concept.
Now it's on V13.2 and it takes me from my driveway to my parking lot daily, and my biggest complaint is that it doesn't know which parking spot is mine.
I've also nearly tripled my money on my stonks. Holding it until FSD goes unsupervised, it's going to moon then.

Apparently it's a lot harder to make a usable EV than big auto imagined as all of them fucking suck ass and are grossly unprofitable. With all the issues Tesla has had, ESPECIALLY with early vehicles, they are still far and away a better choice for the vast majority of new EV buyers

No. Get it to market in volume and then we'll talk. People have been waiting for flying cars since like the fucking 80's. People will continue to wait for "the next best thing" forever. What is technically possible and what is economically feasible are two totally different things unless you are gigarich.
Lucid has a lot of great engineering but has nothing else. This sounds like all you need; it's not. They are poorly run as a business and is in constant need of cash infusion by Saudi overlords and its product isn't nearly as nice as you all seem to think it is (the software is kind of janky when you live day to day with it).
Tesla isn't successful because it's super ahead technology wise or because it's "not just a car company," this is all bullshit cope by fans. It's successful for a lot of little things. Its cars, even though flawed, still provides an overall package that is intuitively and seamlessly usable for first time EV buyers. Its business is pretty efficient - its overhead is surprisingly low while keeping a decent R&D budget. This is what everyone here, both for and against Tesla, just doesn't get. It's not one big thing that floats or sinks Tesla or its competitors. It's a lot of little things that add up.
I'm not saying you should go buy a Tesla or invest in TSLA. I'm saying you shouldn't think anyone else is going to be the next Tesla any time soon because you clearly don't comprehend the scope of how a big business is run.
