I also work in toronto which is one of the most congested shitholes in north America, and trying to navigate it on a daily basis with a full size truck is absolutely aids. Can you do it? Sure. You can drive a semi truck though toronto. But why would I when I don't need to. I just needed something with a bit more utility and space than my wife's veloster, something good in the snow that can tow a trailer and throw bags of dirt in. while still being good on gas. I wanted the tech features so i opted for the lariat. The maverick fits the bill for everything I need it to. The f150 does not. I'm not sure why that's so hard to understand.

I'm not knocking your choice of the Maverick. I fully believe it's an amazing compact truck option. I'm just trying to understand your mindset around towing a load near it's limit, especially in Canada. I thought the general rule has been 80% of tow rating, other anons free to correct me. The F150 platform would have provided you the assured stability needed for that track day at a comfortable 6-8000lbs. Is that tow package on the Maverick good enough to keep your transmission and etc cool without derating power output from overheat on a hill? F150 Hybrid has this issue at it's tow limit on hills too. Everything isn't just about cost and comfort, shit has to be safe when you pull it.

Physics hasn't changed, what's changed is companies being jews and wanting to sell you more expensive vehicles.

Tldr: ford is jews, i didn't buy it to tow shit with. I liked what it offered even not including towing. I will try towing and if it doesn't work out I rent a truck. Not that complicated.

The transmission on the hybrid Maverick is probably the most bombproof part of it. It’s an ECVT; its simplistic concept with few moving parts (comparatively) lends itself to very high durability. But the eco boost? It’s an 8 speed automatic/hand grenade with the pin pulled.

I looked up the tow package on Fords website. It’s not just a brake controller and a receiver. It includes a transmission oil cooler and a different ring and pinion ratio. The eco boost includes a larger radiator, presumably because it’s a turbo so the cooling system has a different duty cycle.

The tow package is a $750 option so I’d suspect most people opt for it.

There are two electric motors on the hybrid Maverick (and Prius, and most hybrids): a motor generator for starting the ICE and charging the hybrid system, and a traction motor for propelling the vehicle. Both are hooked into an electronic continuously variable transmission, along with the ICE. The rear drive unit on a Maverick (and Prius, and Bronco Sport, and a shit ton of other AWD vehicles) is a mechanical clutch pack, also called a power transfer unit.

These guys towed 4000lbs up a 7% incline at 11000 feet, which drops the hp by about 50 on a naturally aspirated engine like this one over sea level. At that level the manufacturer recommends reducing the payload by 20% or about 1000lbs.
