Old british cars were so beautiful and they were incredibly reliable, well made and long lasting even by modern standards. What went wrong after 1970? Except for rolls royce they all died or became soviet tier trash or got bought by foreigners.
>>28208724Kek nice bait. Wrong on all fronts except for the occasional high end/flagship car being beautiful (E Type, Aston martins, coach built stuff etc).
>>28208724>incredibly reliablelol. At least this specific example has a 4L80E so a LS will bolt right in and help with the reliability.
>>28209040TBF the carburetted engines are really good and pretty reliable owing to them being both a simple pushrod and being extremely under stressed, it's everything surrounding the drivetrain that's the problem. That being said, I imagine the LS is significantly cheaper for maintenance parts like water pumps and gaskets, so that engine swap would probably pay dividends in the long run.
Reliable may be the wrong word, but anything that went wrong on an A series could be fixed over an afternoon
>>28208724BMC and everything under it's wings was already trash way earlier. Some of the cars were strokes of genius and/or genuinely fun to drive, especially these days with a few minor upgrades*, but the way the company was run was absolutely retarded, long before the dreaded Leyland era*unironically just a few changes
Ford cortinas looks pretty sweet.
