Turned too tight in a parking garage. Should I even pay to fix this? Camry with 161k miles
>>28209903if you dont fix it right, its all gonna rot and rust. eww
Paint it white. Good to go
>>28209911Can I paint over rust?
>>28209903Cover it with some rattle can paint just so the bare metal doesn't rust at the least.I don't know how much you were concerned with the car's appearance beforehand, but like having a car that I don't care about cosmetically (paired with one that I do).
>>28209913thats not the proper way to go about it, but I guess if you dont care about the car, you could spray it with paint BEFORE it rusts. there are spray cans and they adhere well without primer and bullshit. its not gonna look mint though, but hey, i guess you just dont care.
>>28209919>but hey, i guess you just dont careI've put about 40k miles on it in a year and a half so I don't think I'll have the longest life anyway
>>28209923its a camry.it can go a long way
>>28209903It will buff out.
>>28209903I would, just to make sure it doesn't rustBut if you really dgaf, you don't need to
>>28209903BUFF IT OUT
clean it up anywhere it's gone to bare metal, skim it with body filler if you want, sand to your preferred grit (it's an ancient Camry so anything over 320 is overkill), prime, sand, get a can of off the rack toyota white (or you can have NAPA mix you up a rattle can with the color code for $15 more), paint. It's not a pro fix, but you can do it for like 60 bucks and if you do a decent job it'll keep.
>>28209968>>28209914>>28209912Do I need to use a primer or base layer?
>>28209903Yes you should, Toyotas have great resale value bro.
>>28209983That's not legit damage and it's not rusted, so even a layman's attempt at a repair will look halfway decent if you take the time and steps. Yes, you should prime it. You probably won't get the clear to match unless you go the extra mile and put it down, but even the color code matched rattle can stuff looks fine on a beater.
>>28209989You think I need color code matched or just base white from AutoZone?
>>28209903Spray and pray
>>28209911>>28209919Rust looks cool in small amounts though. Every see you Uncles pickup?
>>28210144>Every see you Uncles pickup?I've seen his penis hard
>>28209903a cheapo shop should be able to get that done for $800fix it, dont look like someone who cant drive>toyotatypical
>>28210236>$800You're a sap
>>28210242>sapDo I need sap for my base layer?
>>28210236>>toyota>typical
>>28209903Just pay someone to fix it
>>28209919My beater is rusting where it has paint though. Can I stop the rust by spray-painting over it? Corner of the roof panel and the trunk.
>>28210110I used toyota green on my landcruiser and it wasn't even close, so I had to resand reprime and repaint for it to look even passable. If it were me I'd spend the extra few bucks, but for something as simple as white, you'd probably have a better result with the off the rack stuff than I did.
>>28211398Yeah I think if it was anything besides white or black I'd go to napa
>>28211162Cut it off
Sanded bondo and matched rattlecan paint + clear coat will make it 5 foot invisible if you care
>>28209903$75 in materials and a weekend can have that good as newdepending how bad that door skin is, it might make more sense to get a used replacement door from a junkyard.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wuu3Gd4Q6Uo
>>28211083kek, that's $3k at a body shop
>>28211873Not it's not, see >>28210236
>>28211878source: somebody who has never been to a body shop. they won't fix a door ding for $800.
>>28211871>>28211398>>28209989>>28209968Do I need to use a gloss coat or anything?
>>28211880Yeah they'll do less
>>282118734k minimum
>>28209903I had a similar situation last summer. It wasn't quite as bad but if that was my car, I'd still fix it myself. The materials you need won't even cost $100 altogether. Make sure the paint matches the car's paint code.
>>28210236you gotta be a fucking retard to pay $800 to fix op's pic
>>28214514Proper paint takes time, dicklet, a shop doesn't just throw a can of spray paint on it and write a bill, it's a fuckload of work to smooth out the body damage, prep the area, prime, sand, do several coats of paint, clear, and then bake the paint out. Any skipped work gets you a glaringly obvious paint mismatch.
>>28214532I repeat, you'd have to be a fucking retard to pay $800 to repair the damage in OP's pic
>>28214534>nooooo looking good is BAAAAAD you have to look like a poverty stricken loser like me all the time or you're stupid!Keep seething, shortdick, the creases in the metal and the location of the damage makes this a long job to properly complete. Shop would probably want to replace the door because bodywork that close to the edge is more time consuming and expensive than just putting a new door on.
>>28214507White is close enough to any white
>>28211880>>28211873i said a cheapo body shop.shit just needs a new door skin, some bondo work on the fender and a blend job.my dad hit a deer. 2 shops quoted $4kgot it done at a beaner shop for $1500. looks pretty damn straight , paint blended well, no orange peel. saved money on buying new ebay headlights, and gluing the mirror back together
>>28214534You'd also be delusional to think that any shop would do it for any less.I guess the conclusion is that you should do it yourself.
Someone scratched my bumper yesterday in a parking lot. No idea who did it but car repairs are jewishly expensive. $800 OP or $13 for this and forget about it.
>>28214953>Snake oilWaste of money
>>28214953what do you think this is gonna do for you lmao
>>28214534true, id charge at least a grand
