My friend that rides tried to teach me how to ride a few years back and his bike was a 1200cc Harley. He explained what to do but was a terrible teacher and didn't properly explain that you must let the clutch out SLOWLY when starting, he just said "let out the clutch when you start moving". It scared the shit out of me how much power it had and I dropped the bike twice. It gave me actual PTSD thinking I was gonna fly right into a wall and die I decided to try again and watched some videos and they all say to let the clutch out slowly until you're moving, sometimes 30 feet or more. Have any of you guys swapped gauge clusters with other bikes? I don't mean a trailtech or something aftermarket but OEM from another bike. Some variety of analog sort. It's easy on a car with a speedo cable and tachs wire up to the coil real simple. just curious if there's a bike that people will often go to for that purpose. perhaps an XR650L cluster on an XR650R.

Guy building the off road harley here.Got it locked in for new shock and fork extension for an extra bit of lift, plus going from a 19/15 to 21/17 rim plus Michelin Anakee in 90/150. Hopefully that will get me out of trouble for the near future, and in case anyone was interested in doing something similar. I’ve got a dirtbike front fender to fit up this weekend and a big steel plate I’ll be welding to the underside but otherwise everything just fits with standard setup.

Most of the parts I needed were OEM but factory rotors are like $600 EACH, so I ordered aftermarket ones for $200 each from Webike that look nicer anyway but they're made to order and will take like three months.Apparently my partzilla order finally shipped today, so at least I should be able to get the exhaust on this week.
