California outside of LA isn't terrible, but not good either. Texas and Massachusetts drivers are complete sociopaths. Northern New England is goated in general except when you run into refugees with free licenses - they are the most clueless people on the road and its' downright dangerous
Boston is still the worst I've seen, although I'm visiting socal right now and the ducking and weaving through traffic is pretty unnerving. Utah had pretty decent drivers especially in the winter but the whole state treats yellow lights like a suggestion, so you have people blasting through intersections with half a second of yellow light remaining
TexasHouston specifically, houston is a cesspool of the worst dregs of humanity all put into one. You'd really have to grade Florida across each major metro, Miami is 3rd world tier danger, no turn signals, just aggressive honk and unindicated lane changes. Additionally we keep getting more Chicagoans and New York/Jersey people moving to Jacksonville and it's steadily getting worse. Everywhere outside these cities is just fine barring the speed trap 1 stop sign cities where limit drops from 70 to 15 in the span of 100 feet. But plenty of straights to speed down if you know where the cops hang. Jacksonville flat out will not pull over speeders, Florida Highway Patrol will though.

Tons of deer, and the only highways go through the woods and are surrounded by trees so you either pay attention constantly or you hit a deer and write off your car. Winters typically last from 5-7 months so we get double the amount of winter driving experience each year. Most of the UP is super remote and has minimal cell service so if you go off the road or get into an accident it can be hours or even days before someone finds you depending on where you are. Most people in the UP are also very poor and can't afford to replace their cars if they hit a deer or a bad pothole, most municipalities are also very poor and can't maintain their roads so we have to dodge even more potholes than the rest of Michigan.The only real place in the UP with shitty drivers is Marquette because its a melting pot and has a bunch of transplants from out of state that haven't been weeded out by their lack of attention while driving yet.
