Diesels are more fun to drive
>>
>>28211170
I had a 330d for a year and got rid of it precisely because it wasn't very fun
To be fair that was more to do with the rest of the car than the engine, I thought the engine was excellent most of the time but it was at its best in normal driving rather than fun driving.
It's brilliant up to about 7/10ths and then when you want to really push it you just get noise. I think a big diesel is the perfect car for a lazy fat bastard, doesn't need to rev much and just shunts you along with minimal effort. But a nice chunky V8 petrol does the same thing while sounding better and actually being able to rev so aside from fuel economy I think most 30/35d enjoyers would be happier in something like a Mustang or a supercharged 5.0 Jag.

>>
>>28211170
I agree. Diesel trucks are what I like. Old school pre emission diesel.

>Be brit searching for cheap 3.0L+ cars
>Go by cheapest first on autotrader
>All automatic petrols or manual diesels
Is this because nobody wants to buy such a shit matchup or is the market seriously flooded with these?
>>
>>28213295
Cars are fine, just prefer diesel trucks. One day I will restore 90's W body Grand Prix. Next is building a 4x4 truck for the old lady. High on the list is a 5.3 silverado but all still in the planning phase.

>Diesels are more fun to drive
Correction: Diesels are more fun to work on
>>
>>28211190
unlike 30d 35d pulls all way up. Literally feels like v8
>>
>>28211170
Imagine driving a car with an engine named after a bald, mulatto, faggot actor

Us bongs bought almost nothing but diesels between like 2000 and just a few years ago because we're all clearly cheap fucks terrified of anything under 40mpg. Look at the ratio of petrol to diesel Jaguar XFs on Auto Trader and cry.
>>
>>28213397
I get the diesel thing to some extent, the gov virtually financed the car for you, on top of diesel coated basically nothing back then
Still don't get how it seems most of the big engine diesels are manual, then the few petrols are automatics
>>
>>28213407
I can only make guesses, but maybe it's because diesel buyers are typically MPG minded so they buy the manual instead of the fuel wasting auto, whereas those buying big petrols clearly either had money to burn or didn't mind the fuel and tax cost so bought the autos for luxury's sake.

TDI chads WW@?!

Fuck 2.0 tdi and it's intake bullshittery

>supercar is fucking diesel
They wanted to make a diesel r8 but couldn't get a tranny that could fit and take all of it's torque
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMtKqVS1FX0
>>
>>28214987
More like they didn't want to spend money developing a suitable gearbox because they knew it wouldn't be worth the investment
BTW, this is the same VAG that did put a diesel V12 in a Q7, built a Bentley with a VW badge that no one bought, and developed the fucking Veyron from scratch, and they still didn't go through with putting a bigger engine in a R8
>>
>>28214997
Look at how slow q7 shifts, I feel like it was the only way to not break the tranny, plus its a bigger car so they had more room for the tranny
>>
Where can I find a list of AWD 1.9 tdi cars?
