Are you implying in yurop you have lots of affordable fast cars? And what are those? Autotragic cuckboxes with 4 cylinders instead of 3?
>>
>>28211423
You're kind of setting it up so that you can't win, right? "Everything should be 40% cheaper than it is".

Nu-muscle, at least models with independent rear suspensions, are much better cars in base trim than a lot of what's on your list. If you can one with a manual, you can probably get a very good deal. If you can *find* a Camaro Turbo 1LE, it will be a screaming deal compared to a lot of cars with similar lap times.

But if not, driving a FWD shitbox with a manual builds character.

I don't think dreaming about what a 200hp shitbox with a solid rear axle could be with enough mods is worth it either. I was there, they were terrible compared to real sports cars. They weren't all that great compared to tuned shitboxes, which is how we got tuner culture.
You're living in someone else's made-up past.

Enjoy your CVT hatchback in the meantime.

It's happening now. Rather obsolete collector car at this point though. Any nu-Mustang is going to be better driver's car and ownership experience out of the box.

If you want Grandma's Mustang Cobra, there's always the Lincoln Mark XIII if you can find a decent one.

Got mine for 5500 a year ago. 89 auto, not great not terrible. Many parts are shared with other GM cars of the era, and specialty parts are on Mirrock Corvette. Based on my knowledge of this part of your argument I'm just going to assume the rest is equally trash. Yeah things could be better but it's not all Doom and gloom yet. Go get a surplus charger or caprice ppv off govdeals and be happy. Hell, the 3.6 mustangs are as fast stock as the 4.6 v8s ever were, get one of those. You can put a single turbo kit on and do 500 at the tire on pump gas. But you strike me as somebody who could never log off the internet and be happy so I guess the best thing you can do is kill yourself.

Toyobarus and VA WRXs are $10-15k, and you can find older EJ WRXs/LGTs for $5-10k all day long. Often with built motors.

NC Miatas are also $8000-15,000 (can find ND1s for $15-22k now)

C4 Corvettes are $5-7000 for L98 cars and $7-12,000 for LT1 cars

S197 3vs are $6-10,000 for decent cars with 5.0s and even 5th Gen SS Camaros reaching $12-18,000

Sounds like you need to look for a bigger market like Cali or Northeast USA

>low mile BMW 128i are like $5k, manual available
>can get a 335i with under 100k miles for under $10k, manual (n/a E90s good too tbqh)
>M235i and similar models starting to get down into the teens in price, early B58s rapidly depreciating as well
>can get an E55/S55/CLS55 etc with a supercharged V8 + 493hp for $8-15k, auto only
>C4 Corvettes are somehow still dirt cheap and great platforms for the price, manual available
>early 5th gen Camaro V8s are like $10-15k/100k miles, with a manual
>unloved domestic sport compacts all still under $10k/low miles with manual (Cobalt SS/HHR SS/PT Cruiser GT/Caliber SRT4 etc, don't sleep on any of these just because ugly/FWD)
In just a few years early '90s cars will be turning 40, as much as car culture still seems to be stuck to that era quite a lot of time has passed. S2K and S-Chassis are either antiques or about to legally be considered antiques at this point. Third gens and foxbodies already have been, too. E30/E36/E46 are also classic or about to be classic cars at this point and drift kiddies are ruining the rest of them, you're completely ignoring the E90s that are all like $5k and the F30s that are starting to drop below $10k as well. Early Toyobarus are RAPIDLY depreciating, I don't know why but I can buy a bunch for like $5k all of a sudden with around 150k miles. Budget under $10k for a clean, low mile, manual example.
There's plenty of now-affordable cars that haven't yet entered the meta or been "memed" because they're just now starting to get cheap enough to get into the hands of many more enthusiasts. Go to somewhere like AutoTrader and go all in on the search filters without entering a make/model (search by RWD, manual, coupe/sedan only etc + price) and you'll probably be surprised the types of cars you can get into that you might've never considered.

There are good performance bargains out there but you absolutely need to look outside the box to find them. I just bought a house and have no money for an actual good car, so I bought a 2007 Sentra SE-R Spec V with 140k miles for $2000 a couple of months ago. it's absolutely a shitbox AND a Nissan malaise era product, but it has an LSD and 200hp. it's good enough to be a fun daily and doesn't have all the usual Nissan quality control issues that come with this era, but its also unloved because it's ugly and worse in every way then a similar Civic Si. I'll beat the shit out of it for a year or two until I can buy a Fiesta ST, but even those are well over 10K for a decent one which doesn't seem worth it considering a dogshit Sentra with an Altima motor is just as fast.

Yes, gyrocopters seem like a blast to fly, especially something completely open like a Bensen B-8 (pretty sure Popular Mechanics had plans for building one).

Truth be told, I was looking at this one guy who builds his own ultralight and then sells them for pretty cheap. He is seeking one called the Flying Nickel on Barnstormers. It is featured in this month's EAA magazine. See picrel.

Sorry about the picture for ants.
>>
>>28212440
How does it drive?

I realy liked those but hated how wide/heavy they were + inability to fold the rear seats. IIRC Its based off the same year rogue platform.

I actually think they're a decent proposition since the QR25DE Rev2 (2007+) from those cars fixes all the issues with the old ones.

And fyi you gotta watch out with the Fiestas, they were great cars but they all get really bad rust/rot (arches, rear subframe in particular) + headgasket issues at high miles (100k+, its the head or block that splits too iirc). Look for a B48 Mini S or MK7 GTi instead (2015+) its the same reliability and price.

>a fucking meme at this point, even a trashed unfinished project is 25k minimum

>>
>>28212560
A used diff is like $500, a little over double for a new diff. Diffs are also easy to install.
A re-tune is around $700, plus like $70 more for the DNA button you’ll also want (to disable traction control). So all in, you’re ar around $13k for a reliable, sporty DD that is probably at the bottom of its depreciation curve (OP is too poor to afford a dedicated sports car, so he’ll also need a DD).
I think this is a goos choice for those reasons. Only major drawback is the lack of a manual transmission. Theoretically it would be possible to swap someday, since they sold a few manuals in Europe, but you’d realistically be stuck in an automatic.
>>
>>28211423
Late 70's American V8s. Nobody wants them because everyone remembers how slow they were because of early emissions, so they're super cheap. Find one in good shape and then just kind of decide what you want to do with it. Many of them are just a re-gear and a top end rebuild away from being pretty spicy fuckers, and parts are cheap because those blocks all got used for decades. Or you can just enjoy the cruise - they often ride like a couch and pull 20+ mpg at 70mph while still being torquey enough to not feel too awful at a stoplight. Bonus - nobody has them, so they're super unique, but today's old dudes all remember them as the family car.

NTA but cars are not a richfag hobby, that’s only been pushed the past 10 years because car enthusiasm has gone mainstream. If a poorfag is unwilling to put in a bit of effort that’s on them, but middle class people who actually worked on their cars are what made the community great

The best way to describe the whole car is "Adequate." Interior quality isn't great but has some nice touches like a factory oil pressure gauge and red seat belts for extra rice. engine pulls well and makes good power but has absolutely zero character or personality to it. transmission has short ratios and an LSD, but the shifter feels like something made by Logitech. Seats are comfy but have no side bolstering. Handles decently but not well enough. Looks really ugly and is heavy but has a roomy interior. The most appealing part of it is the price to be honest, $2000 gets you a single cam civic where I'm from, so this is definitely an upgrade from that.

Unfortunately there's just nothing really special about the car, and for me it really boils down to the engine. It makes good power on paper but has absolutely no character or zest to it. maybe I'm just spoiled from driving VTEC B series Hondas and other great hot hatches but the Spec V just feels like it's missing the magic. I test drove a 8th gen Civic Si after buying the Spec V and the Civic was better in literally every way, but it was also 3 times as much as my Nissan and in far worse condition. I'll probably dump it the first major issue it gets because there's just really nothing worth saving here. It was a parts bin car from the Nissan Dark Ages, and it may be impressive to teenagers or people who haven't driven anything better. I'm stuck driving it because I'm house poor and can't afford anything better currently.
