Looking to buy an f-150 xl soon. For sure I am going to get one with the 5.0. From 2011, to 2023, what year is the best year for these 5.0 f-150 xl's?
not really gonna be any major differences engine wise, a newer gen one will have slightly better fuel economy tho assuming the rest of the truck is stock
Nu50s have an oil pump belt and cylinder deactivation. Get an older one. If you go pre 2015 then get the backwards opening rear doors or an extended cab. The regular 4 doors fill the rockers with water and rot out the cab corners. Aluminum body 2015+ don't rot from the inside out but have their own retarded issues.
>>28211958interesting
the body is aluminum but the frame is steel. wouldn't that cause galvanic corrosion since they're touching?>>28211970>Aluminum body 2015+ don't rot from the inside out but have their own retarded issues. what would be some examples?iIve been genuinely thinking of buying a single cab long bed xl 5.0 for a while now
>>28212850Same. I wanted to buy a 2 door coupe sports car, but I live near offroad trails and the truck would be perfect for camping and offroading and fishing. I might get more fun out of it than a sports car.
>>28212850>the body is aluminum but the frame is steel. wouldn't that cause galvanic corrosion since they're touching?Ummm, no?
>>28212175also might have to deal with 10re issues on a newer one, i'd get a 2015 because its an alumiduty with decent mpg but still has the 6 speed trans
15-17 is the best combo of interior engine and transmission. Alternatively if you can afford a 17± F250 then get that because the 6.2 is one of the greatest gas powered engines ever put in a truck, up there with the GM 5.3 and 6.0
>>28213032Is the 6 speed better than the 10 speed?
>>28213462based on the Ford technician I watch on YouTube he likes the 5.0 with a 6 speed. I thought he said 2016 was the best year for it.
>>28213473Good looking out anon, going to go test drive an 2016 xl i found near by a city away.
Why specifically an XL?It's just a trim level. It affects price but in the used market you'll see deals on XLTs and Lariats.
>>28213896He can get crank windows, and a single cab, not possible for xlt or lariat. If he wanted nanny features he would have gotten a sex change already.
>>282119442011-2014 might only have the first gen engine, but the bed is still steel. After 2015 they went to aluminum. Less tech also means cheaper and less electronics to fix WHEN they go bad and not IF.
