I crawled around a 96 rav4 with a measuring tape and im 95% sure you can put a camry's 5sfe + early rav4 transmission into a 2nd gen and it will just bolt right in. IIRC the harness even goes through the firewall at the same point so the entire early rav4 engine harness should be able to be re-used. I ended up closing on my house faster than I thought so I got rid of that project and I have 0 intention of buying any more """cheap""" toyotas
