Just replace the light + cowl on the top with the classic light and smaller cowl from the bottom, leave everything else up top the same. The trapezoid thing just feels like Izuzu's body design from the 80s, and it's too specifc to be timeless.

but of course there are always trade offs to be made - more aggressive offroad tires means decreased performance on the street, better street tires mean less performance offroad. Where do you live, where do you want to ride/go, what do your friends ride? I switched from offroad the motocross. I do not know anyone who rides offroad, but I go to the track and there are hundreds of people to ride with and I do not even know most of them.

I should add that saw a couple of Honda African twins at a famous motocross track and these guys were killing it. They had to take it easier on the jumps of course, but the turns, hills they were passing a lot of guys. However, the africa twin or any adventure bike is set up for street and light dirt, whereas a street bike is already set up for the street so you do not need to know as much or make as many changes to it for the street. If you get an AT or adventrue bike and decide not to any dirt, you can convert it, at extra cost of course, to something else , I saw vid where a guy morphed an adv in a stoft tail bobber but I can find it.

Of course, the point was many people think you cant do this or that on and ADV bike, but the bike can do it with proper setup and rider ability. You do not need an ultra light bike to be mobile inna woods, but it helps its very tight. If you have no interest offroad, jumps, climbs, trails, then a street bike is the way to go then.

The CRF is way more fun around town but it's unstable on the highway. I ride mine on the highway all the time but it's a little sketchy because it wants to wobble. I have a lot of bikes and the CRF when it's in its element is probably the most fun to ride. If I could only have one bike I would need to have a faster street bike, but if I could have any two then I would get a CRF300L and a big sport tourer.

You'll end up getting two so you should just start with the CRF.

Not OP but this is basically my plan, maybe a KLX 300 instead of the CRF and definitely an ADV instead of the sport tourer though.

An ADV and a dual sport are really similar besides the former being beefier. If you want to have the most diversified 2-bike garage you should get a dual sport and something road focused and fast but still comfortable like a Guzzi V100 Mandello or a Tracer 9 GT
