I have a Fiat that recommends 91 octane gas. But I can’t find that anywhere in New Jersey(Burgerland) besides Wawa.Is there any other gas station thar has 91 octane in my area so I can Jew and not pay for 93 octane?
>>28212978just use 93you get better fuel economy and more power
>>28212982My rabbi won’t allow that though.
>>28212982That's not how it works.Higher octane burns slower. You actually lose power once you get higher octane than what an engine is designed for.As for OP' question, just do a 50/50 mix of 93 and 87. That's literally how the gas stations do it.Look at how many access plates there are in the parking lot for the underground tanks. I'll bet there's only 2. The pump itself mixes those for mid grade.
>>28212978Every gas station in New Jersey sells at least 91 octane. Sunoco still sells 94.
>>28213069>Higher octane burns slower.No. The higher the octane rating the more complete the burn is.
>>28213130Retard.It's a rating of how prone the fuel is to detonation (knocking) when compared to pure iso-octane. AKA how slowly the fuel burns.
>>28213154This.Higher octane is more difficult to ignite, not just initially but as the chain reaction burn travels from one molecule to another. Some engines will "ping" from overlapping burn patterns. A higher octane will slow down the burn rate and create a different burn pattern.
>>28212978Google the compression ratio of the engineYou can probably get away with 89 if you don't heat up the engine to max by hooningIf its hot in the summer then perhaps use 91+
>>28213284>Some engines will "ping" from overlapping burn patterns.lols
>>28213130it's literally how it's measured, 87 octane fuel charge burns in 3.2 milliseconds, 92 octane burns for 3.4 milliseconds. Higher octane fuel is pushing on the piston for longer, but you still want max push at 10 degrees after top dead center, so you have to advance the timing. Then if you put 87 octane in an engine expecting 92, you get piston knock.
>>28213512You're not even worth explaining it to.You lack even the most basic understanding of what's happening inside an engine.Take some automotive night classes or something.
>>28213069>>28212982>>28212978OP lives in one of the gayest states when it comes to getting Gas. He's legally not allowed to operate the gas pump. Wagies at the station have to do it for him, and by law, they must use the octane rating written on your car (if provided near the intake), or they will ask you. They will not mix octanes for you, nor will they let you.
>>28213128You seem to be making stuff up. Most gas stations only have regular at 87 octane or premium at 93. I want to know of another station besides Wawa that almost always will carry 91 octane.
>>28213801Leaf here - just about every station in my city has 87, 89, 91 - and some also have 93 like in picrelAlso on the the subject of octane I think Colorado has stations that still sell 85 octane gas, supposedly to do with how it burns at higher altitudes
>>28213815>>28213801Nerts, forgot the image
>>28213815>>28213817Yes, I live in New Jersey. I’m not going to drive to Canada. I’m better off buying 93 octane here.
>>28212978I live in NJ, just put regular in, you won't get as good performance but if your knock sensor is doing its job, your engine will compensate automatically. >>28213713No one cares if you pump your own gas here, but honestly I don't mind not getting out to do it myself like the rest of the 49 states that are forced to in the middle of winter. https://youtu.be/B7dO7-RtZwA?si=M0pgszGlYmjo3Vj6The only real issue is you can't find ethanol free anywhere unless it's a boat gas dock and it's a dollar more a gallon.
>>28213519Right, if this is 1980 and you're manually advancing or retarding timing by moving your distributor cap. Engine computers alleviate this concern unless you've got a bad knock sensor.
>>28212978sell the fiat and get something less gay and unreliable
>>28212982i wish this myth would die. of course it never will because if your customers are willing to give you more money, why not?
>>28212978Buy 93, when it gets to half tank refill with 87. It'll blend and average to 90-91.
>>28214232>>28213069>>28213284God yall act like putting 93 for 91 octane car minimum will adversely affect it. Maybe for your econoshitboxes, they will do jackshit and be worse but most turbo performance engines will benefit from it. Whether it's worth the price is another question https://youtube.com/shorts/Ys_ZQFLTh5E?si=YgzB67p8TEben3BE^Literal family SUV gets a higher than 91 octane and made 15 WHP.
>>28214281no, people act like putting 93 in a car that was designed for 91 is going to somehow make it run better or worse, cleanerengines with efi, and electronic distributors can advance timing until pinging or knocking is detected to take advantage of the resistance to detonation, but there's only so much improvement to gain by doing that without actually increasing the compression ratio.i can only assume that engines made since the mid-late 2000s with coil on pack ignition or newer can advance timing or eke out even more power than older ones, but by how much who knows.>turbo performance engineswell duh, it's been like that since turbos have been installed in petrol engines
>>28214440>is going to somehow make it run bettewhoops, i should clarify:>is somehow going to give a huge bump in powerbecause the normies ive talked to act like that, they insist their butt dyno notices big gains
>>28213069>octane burns slowerkek based confident retard
what a stupid fucking thread
>>28214440read the manual
>>28214486read my follow up >>28214444
>>28214489I translated the german manual for my car and it clearly stated that the engine will perform best with 98 RON 93 AKIthere is no need to rely on myths
>>28214495
>>28214489I'm not very good at reading.According to some basic research 91 aki is recommended for fiat 500s.so if it's not available op should use 93
>>28213069>Higher octane burns slower.>>28213130>No. The higher the octane rating the more complete the burn is.Octane rating is a measurement of how resistant to detonation fuel is you brain-cramped tiktok faggots.
>>28213069Bro youre wrongYou are not loosing power with higher grade fuel. You just dont get any gaines when you use 93 compared to 91 when your car is rated for 91.Anyway you should never use lower grade fuel. Modern engines can still handle it most of the time but you will loose power.Low grade fuel also leaves more deposits in the engine over time.@OP just get the better fuel and dont go lower. Also dont be a jogger and start mixing fuel at the pump.
>>28212978Op here again…Holy sperg did you guys do everything but handle my question. Is there any chain of gas stations in NJ that widely carry 91 octane gas?
>>28212978I'm in upstate NY and we have Stewart's, a small convenience/gas station chain. All their stations have 91 octane free. My car needs 91 so it exclusively gets that gas, as do my small engines. I don't think they're in Jersey though, sorry OP.
>>28215798You have to go to reservations to get 93 at the pump when i lived in upstate ny.
