Which has more torque?
>>28213341whichever one has the longer crank throw, larger cylinder volume, higher compression ratio, higher combustion temperature
>>28213341Diesel engine obviously (especially with turbocharger)
>>282133412 strokes have a higher potential of torque
>>28213341>using idealized P-V diagrams to show the difference between two Otto cycle enginesngmi
>>28213341In terms of power density, two strokes monster 4 bangers, litre for litre you get far more power and torque and at much lower revs, the downsides will always be fuel economy and nowadays emissions. There's almost nowhere that the power output of a 4 stroke isn't enough for it's size and weight. Personally I far prefer 2 strokes for dirt bikes, they're simple, reliable and powerful. The smaller rotating mass lends itself to quicker handling tooPic related, should have never sold it
>>282133412-strokes are illegal, so 4-strokes have more torque.
>>28213341I wonder if its possible to add the two extra strokes of a theoretical 6 stroke engine to a 2 stroke engine?>pic rel, but other six strokes might work
>>28213574>2-strokes are illegalSomeone forgot to tell KTM (and Husqvarna) that their illegal
>>28213341It depends on how each engine is set up.
>>28213341how long is a piece of string?
2 stroke as it has an explosion in every cycle. Sorry, if you do no work every second cycle too bad your torque halves instantly.

I wonder if we will see a modern 2 stroke gas in the diesel style now that gdi is commonplace and allows it to work
It depends on the gearbox.
>>28213753It depends on the differential (Or sprockets).
>>28213581>KTM and HusqvarnaIt's the same company and they are selling those bikes in Africa and India.
>>28213725There was this prototype a few years back. I haven't really heard anything since. It seemed pretty simple with promising economy results.
>>28213580The torque output for steam would be much more different than a torque output for gasoline
>>28213759It depends on the fuel
>>28213580At this point it just counts as masturbation.
>>282133412 strokeeven if you have LITERALLY no knowledge of engines at all its plain to see that 2 stroke makes more power.also its less complex so the power it does make is going to be more consistent and reliable over its lifespan.on any given day a 4 stroke has a higher chance of having some kind of problem or one of its mechanisms falling out of alignment and lowering the the peak potential of the engine.
>>28214271it depends on the amount of oxygen
ur mom gave me 4 strokes
>>28214339thats half what his dad gave me.
>>28214023>Africa and IndiaAnd the United States
>>28214304>even if you have LITERALLY no knowledge of engines at all its plain to see that 2 stroke makes more power.Power and torque is not the same thing
Torque is *instantaneous*. Look which setup produces higher peak pressure? The four-stroke combustion cycle has less power, but more torque. Most people are spending 90+% of their time in ranges where torque is more important too.
>>28214309>You will never drive in the Carboniferous periodFeels bad, man.
>>28214028miracle designs like this are almost always either entirely fake, or has some crippling drawback.
