Why are EVfags delusional about the fundamental issues with the technology?> batteries are never good enough and manufacturers constantly lie about the estimated range (which is not true if youre going uphill, in winter, or going fast on a highway)> working on EVs will NEVER be safe owning to the fact that 400+V wiring is everywhere, and a wrong touch can kill a mechanic or a first responder> battery packs are inherently unsafe - even if you somehow magically managed to construct one that doesn't catch fire, shorting it will make it turn into a furnace from the heat output, meaning something in the car or its environment will catch fire and burn for 24+ hours> battery packs are wired in series, meaning even if you have 20 cells, which could be redundant, even if ONE fails (or just goes out of sync with the others), the whole battery is scrap> fast 100+kW chargers draw so much fucking power that for a 20+ unit charger draws as much power as a small town - to make all cars EVs, you'd need to build giant charger parks in the middle of nowhere>Even firstie countries are going broke installing fast chargers>Everything in the car is factory sealed and unserviceable>Due to how heavy these fucks are, suspension overall will be less reliable and there will be more road and tire wear>Modern ICE car engines last the lifetime of the car for normal people with just oil changes>Shit quality power electronics in inverters can die to age, exposure and usage, just like mechanical parts canEVs will NEVER be safe and reliable due to these factors, they will consistently be more expensive than ICE cars and die earlier and permanentlyThere's NO silver bullet

>>28213515blablablabla they're fast as fuck and i like not having to do maintenance everthe rest doesn't matter.
>>28213515EV's are an excellent option for city bug people and are already good enough to fulfill the role of basic commuter car for most people, especially if you have a second vehicle for normal driving. But, the politicians pushing EV-only cutoff agendas are geriatric retards that do not understand the technology is not, and will never be viable for total replacement of ICE. EV shills are typically leftist faglords that trust the government implicitly and always point to these passing regulations as gospel to prove their point that EV's are going to take over without thinking about it too much themselves. Most of the quality issues have to do with the fact that manufacturers in general fucking suck and have been putting out nothing but garbage for the last decade. It being an EV isn't the issue because all cars are over-computerized, poorly engineered piles of shit now. EV's could be stupidly reliable and user-servicable, but they aren't because no modern cars are. Electric cars could be so cool, but they're cucked because they're built in [current year]. Imagine a 600hp, rwd electric crown vic with no nannies, touch screens, or cell connection that you can simply charge up in your garage off solar to frustrate the oil jew. Maybe after TKD that'll be something you can walk into a dealer and buy instead of having to build yourself.
>>28213629Slower on road course than just about everythingSlower on drag strip than a fucking stock dodgeSlower on street than pretty much any other street build platform (gtr, vette, etc)

>>28213712Yeah, you literally don't like cars; we get it.
Governments are already doing a lot to subsidise EVs/legislate out petrol cars, and yet it still isn't enough to bring down the costs of EVs for the majority of the population which is all it comes down to in the end. For example, whenever you see someone say "well I can charge my EV overnight using the charging infrastructure at my house", they are putting the cart before the horse - home ownership rates in my country (and others) are falling, and pretty soon the majority of the population won't even have property of their own to install said charging infrastructure. How's the government going to solve that exactly - buy everyone a house?
>>28213728>the majority of the population won't even have property of their ownwho do you think inherit houses mate?if boomers have houses, gen z will have houses perioddont fall over bait. housing is shit for immigrants, that's why there's a war on real estate.
>>28213736Boomers will still be around in 20 if not 30 years. What sometimes happens as well - the husband dies and the widow continues to live in the house for a while longer, until she needs 24hr care and so the house is sold to help pay for that.
>>28213715i like that my car is faster than your car and i like that it makes you angry

>>28213835but by your farm truck?
>>28213515>> fast 100+kW chargers draw so much fucking power that for a 20+ unit charger draws as much power as a small townSo much for a better environmental choice.
>>28213804>Crazy shitIt's just how the world works. Inheritance tax includes the value of assets that you inherit, and property is an asset. Zoomies will have to pay inheritance tax on properties granted to them during inheritance, and because they will not be able to afford that tax, so they will have to sell off the property to get the cash to pay the tax. The buyer will almost certainly be blackrock, since other zoomies don't have the cash to pay the tax, either, and millennials and xers either already have a house or are renting and can't afford one, either.
>>28213515i could disregard all that however there is one big issue no manufacturer has yet addressed. they all look gay.
Counterpoint: the Honda-e (aka the best looking modern car) is electric. That aside, batteries will practically always be, at best, just sidegrades to ICEs. Honestly, the real problem is all the chinese/garbage tech bro slop that's going to flood the market eventually and the fact that EVs will be planned obsolescence on wheels, effectively pricing out many from even owning a car because 2nd hand ones will be worthless.
>>28213862>the best looking modern car
>>28213651Get tf out of here with your reasonable response. I'm not an evfag, but have considered getting a tesla because it's a 4 door car that's quick. But any time you try to have an open discussion, the retards on this forum act like you're some ev shill.

Most people just have a total monthly expenditure of their car which includes fuel, maintenance, and loan payments. This monthly expenditure will be lower for an EV owner.>>28213862ICE cars are also planned obsolescence. It costs more to own a modern ICE car because you can't le wrench these things anymore. I'll just wait until the Japs figure out EVs.
>>28213651>Electric cars could be so cool, but they're cucked because they're built in [current year]This, Mate Rimac said something along the lines of:"we make electric cars not because of environment but because they are fast". >>28215056Plaid is pretty cool.
>>28215918>Plaid is pretty cool. No, its not. Its just a plain sedan with the most powerful electric engine they could fit in it and a performance setting that lets you permanently diminish the lifespan of the battery with each use to get it to accelerate stupid fast. It gets the same performance as Bubba throwing a 1200 horsepower engine into an old Crown Vic but with none of the fun or noise. I watched a clip of one getting clowned and lapped repeatedly on a simple oval track by a base trim Corvette. All it can do is accelerate, so I guess it would be a good drag racer if you can live with your car sounding like a buzzing electric dildo.
>>28213651Hear me out.>some variety of >200hp four banger turbodiesel>two independent battery packs, each only good for ~20mi of range>630hp rear drive unit>3200lbs or lessDiesel motor recharges the batteries reliably and lets you store most of your energy via liquid hydrocarbons, as God intended. Rear drive unit provides surge capacity for when you need to "gap a nigger," parlance.
>>28215971It'd be be better if you could fit about 100 miles of highway range into it, you'd get 99% of daily commutes + a grocery trip into it without engaging the engine, and a little extra headroom for power without damaging the batteries.
>>28213532sounds just like with buying a bmw
>>28215971Motors don't make power, they convert it. You're not getting 630hp from two little battery packs even with a little 4banger actively charging them

>>28215971That's pretty much exactly what Edison motors is doing with their pickup conversions. They already do it on a big scale with their logging trucks. Best of both worlds for stop and go with lots of regen braking opportunities, but you do get efficiency losses at constant highway speeds when compared to just having the motor hooked to the driveline with a normal transmission.
