Im like 3 years in to this and i am still struggling, i get it im a slow learner but fuck how can one immerse themselves even more in this field
Really? It's mostly plug in diagnostic reader, check code and delete. The most tedious bit is changing a sensor because you have covers over covers over covers.
>>28214218>The most tedious bit is changing a sensor because you have covers over covers over covers.No.
>>28214231Yes.
>>28214211How hard is it to un-do bolts and change parts? (Auto)Mechanics shouldn't even be called skilled labor since your entire career is documented on youtube
>>28214211You just gotta lock in and understand how metal works
>>28214253You can find full Harvard classes on YouTube. Does that make Harvard an illegitimate educational institution?
>>28214287trick question, all educational institutions are illegitimate >T. graduated from the Britney Spears college of medicine and mechanics
>>28214211What you're not getting is that the system is stacked against you. Labor times are figured on the tech having done the same exact job ten times TO BREAK EVEN. Beating the time would take more familiarity with the job. Warranty times are even lower. You're only going to stand a chance of getting that kind of familiarity with the various common repairs at a dealer. If you're working at independents you'll have to find an owner who looks out for his people and charges what he needs to to make that happen. Fortunately that's more common that you'd think since most owners were mechanics before.
>>28214256Yeah after a while shit just becomes second nature to work withAverage zoomzoom goes from soft touch interfaces and fragile plastic directly to 200 ftlb stuck bolts and rusty rough edges, it takes a minute to reorient
>>28214211I had great teachers and then a boss who was insanely smart. It can take a few years to be really good. I suggest working at one of the higher end shops like bmw mercedes etc otherwise you won't make much.
>>28214256What did you mean by this? Seems like some retarded sales pitch slogan that is supposed to be inspirational, yet is completely meaningless. I do understand how metal works. How do I lock in? What am I locking into? Is your picture some kind of flex showing how to properly "lock in"?
>>28214470yeah
>>28214231Yes
>>28214293>all educational institutions are illegitimate^After the Eisenhower administration.
>>28214211
>>28214234>>28214731>t. never done a timing set or valve springs.
>>28214948>Feed some rope from spark plug hole>Turn engine over untill piston presses valves closed>Change springsNot that difficult
>>28214726>yeahIs Locking in™ lifting moderately heavy stuff with lifting equipment? I'm still trying to grasp how to properly Lock in™Please advise.
>>28215052It’s just a retarded zoomer phrase about getting super focused and dedicated
>>28214253This, it's literally not a skill you just put the new parts in and that's it, anyone can do it, there is zero skill involved in it.
>>28214211>job for sub 90 iq mexicans>need 120 iq to do it wellNo winning in this field.
>>28214470Don't listen to retarded tripfags.
>>28215481Not seeing you doing jack shit brother
>>28215100>It’s just a retarded zoomer phrase about getting super focused and dedicatedYou don't say... I'm making fun of him for using a stupid zoomer phrase.>>28215603Is this Locked in™?
>>28215624Pretty damn locked in, pulled the engine from the truck, pulled an engine from the junk yard and installed the junk yard engine all in one day
>>28215630
>>28214211This is why I wouldn’t consider doing it as a job. I’m slow as fuck at everything I do. Plus you wouldn’t get to choose what you work on.
>>28215028>Not that difficultSpring keepers are TEDIOUS, no one was talking about difficult. Also: Rope from spark plug hole? WTF kind of ESL is this?
>>28215380>there is zero skill involved in it.Not breaking, snapping, or sheering bolts is absolutely a skill.
