By that age your effort reward feedback loop should be based on longer term financial goals and not depreciating consumer assets.

I love my car. It brings me great joy just to look at it. I unironically go outside and smile at it when the sun hits the paint right and it shines. Ever since I was a kid, all I ever wanted was a fun car, a good wife, and a decent enough job to afford the first two things. That car in the garage is validation that I’m on the right path. Not only does the car help me make money by getting me to my job, it lets me see extended family I probably wouldn’t bother to go see if I had to take a train. The fun car means taking the scenic route. Not wanting a fun car is like living in a house with no art on the walls. I feel genuine pity for people who see a car as just a tool like a hammer. We live in a very interesting time that will ultimately be very short lived in the grand scale of time and it ignite the artistry and pride that comes from a cool car to me is like being a knight who doesn’t care about his horse or a cowboy who just rides whatever and never forms a bond. It’s sad but to each his own I guess. I’m just lucky I love my car.
I want to have a "cool car" at all points in my life. Never anything soulless or boring. Can be the powertrain, the looks, whatever, it needs to inspire somethinge. I dont want just an appliance. EVs and hybrids are off the menu. So is anything with a CVT. I dont understand your question though. how much car you can afford depends on how much money you make.

I wasnt always a car enthusiast, i actually became one at like 21... most people it seems were car enthusiasts from little children. i didnt think my life was so much less fulfilling before really, but im glad i found this hobby.
