They’ve been growing on me what are some redpills on owning one
Make sure you take one of these with you , anytime you go out on a drive.
>>28233972I've had the bug for a bug recently as well. I suspect parts would be pretty expensive here though since nothing is manufactured locally anymore so it'd have to be imported from yurop or the states.
>>28233979generally good advice>>28233972Spend the extra money to buy a nice one. They're maintenance intensive (both body and the mechanic side) but even these days some people tend to run them into the ground. Simple tech, but simplicity means it constantly needs adjustment/tuning/cleaning. Lots of cars around that look straight, run ok-ish, registered and driven but actually need a full restauration like this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17jtIflX7CE>>28234004>I suspectwaste of your time, also wrong.
Which years are best years?

>>28233972Sloooooooooow.Unless it's not, there are some pretty serious punch buggies out there.Do it.
Bump , best thread on /o/ right now i am also bugging for a bug , i have no fucking clue as to why.
>>28233972read this cover to cover before you think about buying one
>>28233972Heater/defrost is a suggestion at best. While they handle well in the winter, you will have to dress for the weather, or install an eberspacher heater.Wiring is usually a mess, unless you find one that has been restored or lovingly kept.Brakes can be mediocre. 4 wheel drums, no assist, single circuit brakes were common. The battery is under the rear seat, and unless maintained you'll find all kinds of corrosion there.Washer solvent "pump" is the spare tire, on many years of VW.Fuel tank is under the front "trunk" area, above your feet/legs. If it leaks, you'll immediately know it, and the suggestion to carry an extinguisher is VERY valid. Avoid the ones with the early fuel injection systems or the semi-automatic trans. Unless you really intend to learn how they work and repair them yourself, chances are they will just be a hassle.
My budy just seized his 1914 race engine on his manx we believe its because his long block is magnesium and he just put in forged pistons.
>>28233972The beetle was a relic of a better time. Its not gonna come back unless VW looks at the shitshow that was the Electric Fiat 500 and says, "I think we can top that."
>>28235513Shame, I bet that exhaust sounds wild
>>28235513That has to suck, i just pulled the motor on my 72 bay gonna have the transmission rebuilt. Planing on a full restoration down the road but no money now.
no one will make an aircooled V8 ever again
>>28235516>VW looks at the shitshow that was the Electric Fiat 500 and says, "I think we can top that."The nu-beetle beat the nu-500 by a decade, both were on sale side by side
>>28233972They're not complicated and they're not very powerful. There's simply not much to go wrong.
>>28235537a Fiat Stilo. Basically is much better in every aspect. From road grip in corners, to space, to maintenance... .
Bump
>>28235537Nice Golf.
>>28235541Stilo has sparky bits that the Lucas would be ashamed of. Just letting you know.
>>28233972>what are some redpills on owning oneDon't plan on getting anywhere fast unless you swap out the engine.
