Today I tried out Ultra Bee.
It is even lighter than I thought, easier to lift than a 50cc sumo (or maybe I just got stronger).
As advertised, charger fits neatly under the seat.
As not advertised, it has 3 holes on each side at the rear, it's possible to screw eye bolts into them so securing luggage will be easy.

But the handling is weird. Grom feels like a proper motorcycle, just small. Ultra Bee feels like a powerful bicycle.

folks, please help. Yesterday I 'passed' my cbt. However. bc im 19 i was suposed to do it on a lil 125 but i could not even fucking take off without losing balance and having to put my feet down. Instructor said in all his 20 years of doing the courses he has never seen anyone struggle with balance as much as me. thats probably over 10000 different riders hes seen come and go. I got moved on to a 50cc moped and even on that i could not even do figure of 8s or do u turns without losing balance. Instructor suggested I may have dyspraxia. When i did the road test I didnt lose balance and did relatively ok and so i passed. the thing is, I fucking love bikes, always have done. I just wonder are some people just genetically not cut out for riding. I mean how fucking bad must you be to be accused of having a mental disorder. I dont know whether to just get a cheap little moped and get familiar with the physics of being on 2 wheels or whether i should just forget the idea of riding completely. Here i was thinking this could be a new positive chapter in my life. making real friends for the first time, group rides, bike meets, places to see etc yet leave it to me to be the fucking donkey brain who cant even keep upright at walking pace. i dont know what to do and would appreciate your thoughts.

Ok, riding slow with control is actually hard for beginners. When you come to do your mod 1 its mainly slow control, rifding figure 8s round cones, u turns in the road, riding behind the examiner at walking pace etc. Best way to learn, like everything is to practice, find an empty car park and practice riding slow and controlled. Some of it is counter intuitive, eg if the bike start tipping in on slow turns, dont slow down, speed up a little.

And dont panic, nobody is born being able to do this shit.

Can you ride a bicycle? Thats where most people learn 2 whell balance.
>>
>>28590416
Shit, you got me paranoid now.
>>
>>28590404
as others said, ride a bicycle first. if you are this uncoordinated you are not ready for riding even if you happen to get the license. the most important thing to remember is that a low speeds is when a 2 wheeled vehicle is the least stable and you have to rely more on handlebar turning, but as you speed up it literally keeps itself up with physics and will continue straight even if you jump off it. so go as fast as possible to be able to clear the obstacles.

I loved the scooter I had. 2018 Honda navi. It was a fun little machine, I used it to learn basic 2 wheel skills. I'm a big ol fat redneck (6'2" 295), so I traded it toward something bigger since it struggled to go up anything more than the mildest incline with my bulk. It was a neat little machine all the same.

>>
>>28590427
No reason for paranoia really.
Phone-induced injuries happen less often than deaths from tick-borne diseases.
And the way lithium batteries explode makes it unlikely to be harmed by a surron battery, there's enough gap between lithium cells and rider's ass for it to be safe, safer than a phone in your pocket unless you keep sitting on a bike when it's already burning.

In other words, my risk calculation tells me that touching grass is more risky than sitting on top of that battery.

But riding it will be dangerous if I don't immediately change the tires.
Stock tires are no bueno on tarmac. Lightest pull on the rear brake and your rear is sliding, lightest lean and the rubber already loses grip.
>>
>>28590404
Fuuuuck, I see this as soon as i start thinking about doing my CBT to stop being a /n/ig. I would suggest, along with others to learn to bicycle first, even a

The "people" importing millions of browns are massive corporations and leftists. Corporations profit off of them for dirt cheap labor and leftoids profit off of them for unregistered voter base.

NTA, but first hit, National Bureau of Economic Research estimated total consumption of alcohol dropped heavily in the beginning before rebounding to 60-70% of it's pre-Prohibition levels until prohibition was repealed. So it's not a lie to claim prohibition reduces supply of a product. It just always comes with unintended side effects, and Prohibition came with some really, really fucking nasty ones. So was the juice worth the squeeze? They didn't think so when they repealed it.
>>
>>28590761
He's right you fucking mongoloid it reduced incidence, wether you like it or not.
Enforcing laws means it reduces incidences of breaking said laws. They put a law to enforce helmet wearing and riders without helmets would be fine, and whaddaya know, lots of people suddenly wore fucking helmets.
Just as it's easy to spot a rider without a helmet as it is spotting a brown in the street. Except instead of giving them a fine you throw their fucking asses out of the country.

By all indications the Ninja 300 is being brought back because of the cost explosion of bikes in the US market as as something cheaper than the Ninja 500 by bringing it in from India, where they are still getting barely warmed over versions of the one they sold elsewhere until 2017. It is remotely possible they'll start building them in Thailand again only because they still build Versys 300s there and they're mostly the same bike other than wheels and bodywork, but once again you're just getting a 2013 bike with fancier headlights and more emissions fuckery.

>No reason for paranoia really.

If you live in the country or the burbs and can park it outside your dwelling. ebike fires are reasonably common and are starting to get more attention.

The only way I'd store an ebike battery in my home is inside an industrial flammable storage locker (which I have, they can go cheap at auctions) or similar like a dead chest freezer lined with cement board caulked with firestop etc. Milsurp steel ammo boxes, rocket boxes etc are tough but I'd have to either remove the lid gasket or install a screened vent in the lit etc to vent gases. The screen would be stainless as a spark arrester. Batteries burn hot and fast.

I recommend shooting junk batteries if you have space and nothing flammable nearby. A .22 is fine because it doesn't disintegrate the battery but the flames and molten metal are amusing.

If I still went camping I'd use cells to start camp fires that way.

>>

Depends on the motorcycle, it's age, condition and location. If you're observant there can be deals anywhere.

Buy for how well it starts, runs, rides and stops. Pick a PROVEN COMMON model with a long production run and rep for reliability. Then download the factory service manual (common bikes with large user groups often have .pdf factory service manual or if not an option an aftermarket book like Haynes or Clymer.

I knew what to look for on every used bike I bought because reading is free.
Bikes are mostly easy to wrench but ensure you buy one that is since it's yours to either work on or pay someone else (fuck that) too much money.

In the Southeastern US I could get a useful variety of bikes in decent condition for that money. They might need cosmetic work but that's easy and cheap compared to mechanical work. I bring a spark plug socket etc and a common Bourdon tube compression tester, and my jump start pack and jumper cables just in case. Know what colors happy spark plugs should look like. Hear the bike start from cold.

The more ya know about anything you consider buying the better for your wallet because ignorance is expensive!

check out fb market place, national and local dealers and other things locals use (like craiglist in certain american cities or kijiji if youre canadian)

generally a bike that cheap, it isnt going to be amazing, but you might be able to find a barnfind or a deal
>>
>>28591032
one reason i like the 60-70 horsepower range is i feel like i can use my entire bike
75mph cruising in sixth is still maximum comfy but if i pull through in 4-5-6 then i can do 95 which is about as fast as i personally want to go in public
im not a BROTHER but thats also why i always though the hate on the harley engines for being relatively low horsepower was silly. where can i use 150 horses except the track ?
an engine like on the old sportsters or on the V7 is just about perfect
>>
>>28590404
im assuming youre UK since you said cbt, what school did you do it with? some of them offer post-cbt instruction and advice, or you could meet with a /dbt/ anon thats got a spare bike for practice
the fact youre 19 years old and posting on 4chan for advice probably gives me the incline you mightve had stage fright or performance anxiety on the day, but the fact you got a pass is a positive
since they moved you to a moped, I assume you did the rode ride on a moped too, or did they check you off for being safe on a geared bike?

Like other anons said, getting a bicycle for a bit, or even one of those rental scooters you see in every town now, could help you with your balance

Even in the $1500 range you can find decent bikes that will run for years. Its just more ideal to save at least $2k imo since there's a lot more options. A cruiser like the c50 boulevard is amazing for the price. Its a bulletproof shaft driven cruiser with ≈50hp and is easy to handle and ride. There's also stuff like the klr650 which is also bulletproof and easy to manage if you don't mind the seat height. Only sport bikes have shitty options since under $2k your pretty much relegated to beater ninja 250 & 500 hell. You can still find a handful of cheaper naked bikes like honda hornets or suzuki bandits and gs500s though, so your options aren't too limited. Just do research on any achilles heal issues that will affect longevity of the bike you want. Each bike has its own riding characteristics that lend themselves to different types of neglect

Thank you, that's good info. I'm looking forward to hearing what they officially announce because I'm gonna be buying a first bike late this year or early next and I'd like to support a brand bringing a new low cc bike to America. But if it's nothing special and I find much better used options I'll just do that
>>
>>28591040
Yeah its funny cause unless you're just exclusively blasting down the highway every time you ride, 99% of people actually only use about 50hp in normal riding. People don't rev the piss out of their bikes every time they accelerate, especially if their bike is making >70hp. I enjoy my vfr, but I'd really love to get a boulevard or scout some time since it really is just nice to be able to use the whole power band if you really want without worring about constantly breaking the law or exceeding your skill level

I’m in WA. I’m looking at cruisers, dual sports and touring bikes.

>what are the bike laws in your country/state (i.e. do you have to start small, or can you just buy anything)?

USA so I think I can have anything. I need to get my DL and my endorsement though.

>check out fb market place, national and local dealers and other things locals use (like craiglist in certain american cities or kijiji if youre canadian)
>generally a bike that cheap, it isnt going to be amazing, but you might be able to find a barnfind or a deal

I’m just looking for something that won’t give me trouble. There’s plenty in my price range, but I don’t want to buy something that’s going to give me a bunch of hassle.

They say things like, ‘runs great,’ and I have friends who could take a look for me because I have no idea what I’m looking for in terms of problems.
>>

Clean chain every 500miles. I do airbox every 10000km or one year.
>>

>cruisers, dual sports and touring bikes.
realistically, in that price range, idk that youre gonna find a good cruiser or a tourer with less than like 50k miles, sadly, unless its a fixerupper and youre ready to wrench

could probably still get some nice dualsports tho, japs make some really good ones, look for something your style and then get your buddys input
(or make some schizophrenic collage of pictures and post it on here and ask us to rate them)
>>
>>28591058

>Just explaining my preference, obviously yours is different
How many gears does your bike have? The Sportster has 5 in its most recent model. I felt like a sixth gear would make interstate ridung better. They're also geared for more low end torque than a sports bike, and that will also make a difference.
>>
>>28591121
I have six gears, with the sixth sitting me at 4000rpm at 70mph
Speaking in ignorance, it seems from Google like fifth gear in the sporster at 70 is a similar rpm, so I don’t think I would find it uncomfortable. I’ve never even ridden a sporster, maybe they’re uniquely shit at 4k rpm. I just mean to make a general case for 40-80 ish horsepower motorcycles. For me it’s a sweet spot.
>>
>>28591127
All I can tell you is my 1200cc Sportster could break 100mph but was very uncomfortable at interstate speeds for a variety of reasons, and moving to a big twin Harley made everything about riding better.
>>
>>28591135
I believe you man
For me I disagree, and I think many others if they give it a go will come to agree with me, but certainly some people will agree with you and that’s fine too
Far too many though jump to 120+ horsepower because that’s what they think they’re supposed to do without really trying out the other options

Do a lot of clutch feathering and maintaining balance on your bike without putting your feet down, that's usually the better exercises for rookies, after you can go around 2-3mph without falling or putting down your feet, you can start more with doing slow turns, and yes, counter steering still matters for this. If you need to grasp techniques quicker, check out Moto Control on YT, he has great videos, you can also buy a cheap beginner exercise guide/video from his site for the cost of a McDonalds menu if you are interested in more. Also if you can learn offroad techniques, do so, learning there like I did right away on my 390 Adventure helps tremendously, it makes riding on asphalt a cakewalk later. I took classes with an instructor myself, wasn't cheap but in 3 months with classes once a week, I can even ride with a single hand before even getting my license, if you can do this, I highly recommend it, or at most, find someone who has some knowledge to teach you the basics well that doesn't charge you that much.
And I would say that your balance issue is because you are getting too tense when your are over the bike, all your tension instantly translates into the handlebar, so relax, let the bike do the job.

they'll no doubt have changed something slightly so you need a whole new system to be designed
euro5 will kill the fun
too much tech will kill the fun

In the Morgan three wheeler forums we used to talk about how the S&S engines were more desireable than stock Harley engines that Morgan originally wanted to go with. Funny that now the m8 is considered a highly superior engine. Really good work from the motor company to turn that around. I miss my three wheeler sometimes

my opinion doesn't matter as I'm not going to buy one. I want suzuki to give it the full tft and all the electronics on gsxr1000 and the gsxr750. I don't care much for the gsxr750. Also, hopefully they price it competitively unlike what they did with the vstrom 800 / gsxs 800 series. I'm not telling its too high, but its higher than Honda, the competition which is what matters.

Should I buy the new GTS 310 supertech?
I really would love me an smol vespa, but holy shit it's fucking pricey for what it offers.
7.7k euros for it without any addons, while an xmax 300 tech max is 7.5k euros and the map app is supposedly free.
>>
>>28591804
bit of both. I wanted a bigger naked to replace the 390 duke I learned on and the price was right but I also prefer the looks and seating position of the Z to an MT or something.

can't speak to the z1000 since it's discontinued in the US and I never see them. I think a z1100 is coming soon though?
>>
>>28591808
monke is rather smol anon, especially for taller guys, why don't you want a bigger bike?

>>28591808
I'd recommend a grom. 120kg is a lot anon. Do something before its too late.
>>
>>28591850
>why don't you want a bigger bike
I wanted something that had enough power to do 90kmph and was rather easy to handle, and I would rather not spend the over 7k euros a 300cc scooter costs.
But I guess if I take a 1 year loan and finance just the 4k I need more, I could make do, and finish paying more or less at the same time than my car.

I like the ktm 390 supermoto and adv x, xmax 300, vespa gts 310 and honda rebel 500, I've tried the xmax and did the exam with a 390 duke and like how they handle.

But yeah, if I pick a beaten bike from over 20 years ago surely I'd find them, but all of those can't enter a city in $CURRENT_YEAR since the emissions law that the EU forced on us and everyone in the EU is reverting but not this commie, criminal government.

are these laws enforced? in the US, most states technically require an annual inspection, including safety and emissions control. I don’t know anybody that gets their bike inspected each year and i dont know anybody that’s been ticketed for not getting inspected.

Sadly yes, there are usually controls in several places, if they decide to stop you, you need the sticker to prove you passed the inspection visible or else they put a ticket on you, same shit if the exhaust is too loud.
Although I drove my gramps scooter that didn't pass the inspection in over 10 years and no one ever stopped me, but you're basically playing with fire doing that.
